[The male and female leads are not siblings! They are not on the same household registration! They are not legally related! They are both over eighteen years old!]

[This is a fictional story; all characters, stories, and locations are not set in the People's Republic of China!]

"Xiao Zhe".

"Sweetie, go close the door."

The man gently patted Xu Zhe's back and gave him instructions.

Although she didn't understand why he had to close the door, she always obeyed his orders.

A soft click.

The silent door lock was slid into place.

Xu Zhe closed the door, and as soon as she turned around, she bumped into the man's broad, thick chest, which was dressed in a suit and leather shoes.

The crisp, cool pine resin enveloped me, clean and distinct.

She looked up, her bright, almond-shaped eyes, like a doe's, meeting those unfathomable black eyes.

The man's long, slender arms encircled her as he braced himself against the door.

The close proximity made her instinctively back away, but she only took half a step before her back hit the door.

"Happy 18th birthday!"

The man's voice was languid and tender, carrying a faint smell of alcohol, as it fell from above Xu Zhe's head.

Along with the sound came a string of pink and red conch beads.

Xu Zhe lowered his head, revealing the delicate and gorgeous shimmering light beneath his neck.

She looked up and smiled back, obedient and innocent.

But she didn't notice the man's increasingly heavy breathing and the sharp angles of his jawline tightening.

"Zheng Xi..."

She looked up at him, confused and innocent.

"elder brother."

She deliberately added an honorific after his name, intending to remind him that the distance between them was inappropriate.

"elder brother?"

Xu Zhengxi's deep eyes narrowed slightly, a cold glint in his unfathomable gaze.

"Xiao Zhe, you're being naughty."

Xu Zhe knew he had overstepped his bounds and lowered his eyes, not daring to look at him.

He never allowed her to call him that.

Even though they were ten years apart, and even though she felt it was impolite to call him by his first name so directly, Zhengxi.

Soon, Xu Zhe experienced the consequences of being "disobedient".

Xu Zhengxi suddenly lowered his head and bit her earlobe hard, then her lips.

Xu Zhe's head had long been smashed into a pile of rubble. In her daze, her knees buckled, and she almost fell to the ground.

"Can't stand?"

Xu Zhengxi put his arm around her.

He looked with great interest at the rosy little face in his arms.

"Hmm~"

Xu Zhe obediently admitted it.

Xu Zhengxi gave a slight smile, then reached out and scooped the person in his arms up in his arms.

He walked towards the inner bedroom...

A bolt of lightning streaked across the sky and struck the window.

The girl's delicate voice was broken by the thunder.

A pink conch bead necklace swayed on her fair neck...

Xu Zhengxi, a powerful figure in Beidu, is the youngest high-ranking official in H country.

He was portrayed in the news as a proper and upright young cadre.

He is the most distinguished single gentleman in the country.

But things got out of control tonight...

Xu Zhe didn't blame him; this kind of growing pain was far better than the nightmare she had experienced.

Two years ago, she used her last bit of strength to grab his trouser leg and beg him to take her away.

She said that she would do anything he asked if he was willing to take her away.

That was the lifeline that Xu Zhe grasped desperately in his moment of despair.

But to my surprise, he actually took her away.

Not only did they save her life, they also took good care of her for two years.

Xu Zhe closed his eyes. It was her eighteenth birthday, and he had come back especially to give her a gift.

It turns out it was telling her that now that she's an adult, she should keep her promises...

Xu Zhe returned to his room and collapsed onto the large bed.

Her lower back and back were in so much pain that she felt like she was going to break apart.

Thinking back to Xu Zhengxi's previous demeanor, he was a completely different person from his usual self!

Before tonight, he was her respected elder, a sanctuary that sheltered her from the wind and rain.

What about now?

What is their relationship?

Xu Zhe covered his head with the blanket, afraid to face such a question.

The door handle slowly moved downwards, and the latch made a soft clicking sound as it opened.

Xu Zhe opened his eyes wide under the covers.
