The empty scrap metal yard was illuminated only by a single white searchlight, casting a beam of light on the rusted iron gate of the yard.
Yang Huanhuan sat in the shadows outside the light, occasionally checking the time on her phone.
The person should have arrived long ago as agreed. But at the far end of the road, not a single car light could be seen.
"Brother, is the person you called reliable?" Yang Huanhuan couldn't help but ask the person next to her.
As soon as she finished speaking, an arm pressed heavily on her shoulder.
"Little sister, don't you trust your brother?" His arm drooped down, gripping Yang Huanhuan's blouse...
"Brother!" Yang Huanhuan stood up abruptly and took a few steps away.
"Hahaha!" The man slowly got up and limped toward Yang Huanhuan.
Half of his face appeared in the out-of-the-way light of the searchlight, revealing a fierce expression with one side bright and the other dark.
Yang Huanhuan dared not back down any further, letting him walk up to her and grab her by the neck.
"You little bitch, how dare you not trust your brother?!" The fierce face became even more ruthless.
Yang Huanhuan was so frightened that she couldn't help but tremble.
This man is a devil! She knew he was a devil all along! She began to regret it; she had finally escaped from home, and she shouldn't have provoked this man again!
"No! It's just that time has passed and I'm in a bit of a rush," Yang Huanhuan hurriedly explained, tears welling up in her eyes.
"Don't cry, my dear sister. I've always loved you the most since we were little, haven't I?" Yang Xiaolong reached out and patted Yang Huanhuan's face hard a few times.
Slap! Slap! Slap! It sounded like someone was slapping someone's hand.
Yang Huanhuan felt a burning pain on one side of her face immediately, and tears streamed down her face with the slap.
Seeing her cry, Yang Xiaolong grinned and said, "Good little sister, I'm just playing with you, I'm not going to beat you up."
Ding ding ding... A cell phone ring interrupted the siblings' "communication," and Yang Xiaolong swiped open the screen to answer it.
"Boss, I'm so unlucky, I got followed and lost you halfway there!"
The sound from the other end of the phone rang out clearly in the quiet storage yard.
Yang Huanhuan instantly forgot she was afraid of her brother and frowned, waiting for Yang Xiaolong to speak.
"If it's lost, it's lost," Yang Xiaolong said calmly, as if the sudden change had nothing to do with him.
"Brother! The person is missing, aren't you going to go and bring them back?!" Yang Huanhuan was unwilling to give up.
Yang Xiaolong slowly put away his phone and looked at Yang Huanhuan's face:
"Didn't you hear someone following us? Are you trying to force your way in and kill your brother?!"
"No," Yang Huanhuan said, lowering her head and quickly denying it.
Behind the pile of scrap steel, the heavy breathing grew louder and more rapid.
Yang Xiaolong lifted Yang Huanhuan's chin, his smile sinister.
"The people you found can't come, and the two behind them have been given strong drugs. Who's going to deal with them?" His voice echoed in the darkness, as if it came from hell.
Tears streamed down Yang Huanhuan's face, and she trembled like a leaf: "Brother! Brother! Please! Don't!"
Yang Xiaolong's smile remained unchanged as he quietly stared at her.
Yang Huanhuan knelt down, trembling, and pleaded, "Please! Brother! I'll do anything you ask!"
"Really?" Yang Xiaolong bent down and took Yang Huanhuan's hand.
"Really! Brother! Let me go!"
"Then show your brother first whether you're really obedient!"
Yang Xiaolong dragged Yang Huanhuan forcefully behind the pile of scrap metal!
"No! Please!"
"ah--!"
"......"
A series of piercing screams echoed from the scrap metal yard, reverberating through the empty mountains and along the deserted road...
Xu Zhe woke up in the hospital ward and saw Xu Zhengxi as soon as he opened his eyes.
"Zhengxi?" She propped herself up to sit up.
Xu Zhengxi helped her get up, then sat on the edge of the hospital bed and pulled her into his arms: "It's alright, I'm back."
He received a call from Si Kangzhu as soon as he landed, and he wished he could fly to the hospital.
Fortunately, Xu Zhe was unharmed, without even minor skin abrasions; he was just stunned into fainting.
"Where is Qin Yuyang?" Xu Zhe asked, disregarding Xu Zhengxi's prohibition against their contact.
“At the hospital.” Xu Zhengxi paused for a moment, then continued, “Still in the operating room.”
"What?!" Xu Zhe jumped out of bed. "Where's the operating room?! Take me there!"
Her voice trembled, and tears streamed down her face instantly.
She remembered clearly that when she fell from the car, it was Qin Yuyang who rushed over and caught her. She was unharmed now, so he must have been seriously injured!
Xu Zhengxi suppressed his emotions. Now was not the time to argue with her; he needed to deal with the matter first.
“The best doctors in Lingnan are in the operating room; you can’t help at all.” He pressed the person back onto the hospital bed.
"But......"
"Listen to me!" Xu Zhengxi turned Xu Zhe's face to face her.
Seeing his stern expression, Xu Zhe dared not disobey him any longer.
"What injury did he suffer?" she asked.
"Skull, hand bones." Xu Zhengxi only mentioned the location of the injury, without specifying the extent of the injury.
"Skull?!" Xu Zhe's body trembled, and the image of smashing the watermelon flashed through her mind.
Qin Yuyang wouldn't...?
"How serious is the skull fracture?!" she exclaimed anxiously.
She couldn't walk for three months after her leg bone was broken, and her skull... she couldn't even imagine.
Xu Zhengxi didn't say anything, but comforted her that the doctor was already treating her and that the success rate of the surgery was very high.
Seeing that he wouldn't say, Xu Zhe decided to ask the doctor himself after the surgery.
"Who did it? Have you found out?!" she asked.
Xu Zhengxi sighed softly:
"Si Kangzhu found the car that kidnapped you. It was a stolen, abandoned car. We haven't found out who ordered it yet."
He investigated all the people he suspected, but for the time being, he found no leads.
The ward fell silent, each lost in their own thoughts.
Xu Zhe was worried about Qin Yuyang, while Xu Zhengxi had mixed feelings.
