Chen Cheng walked into the house without looking to the side. As he passed Si Kangzhu and the beautiful woman, the sound of their laughter was grating and pierced his heart.
He clenched his fists and vowed never to speak to Si Kangzhu again! He was going to block Si Kangzhu's WeChat and phone number right away!
Chen Cheng walked through the front courtyard and up the steps, leaving the two behind. The laughter and chatter gradually faded, and a strange pang of sorrow welled up in his chest. Why hadn't Si Kangzhu called him back?!
As Chen Cheng stepped onto the stairs and was about to enter the gate, his eyes welled up with tears.
"Chen Cheng!" Si Kangzhu's voice came from behind.
Something seemed to settle in Chen Cheng's heart. He blinked hard to dissipate some of the dampness before turning around.
"What is it?" He glanced at the beautiful woman beside him and added, "Mr. Si."
Although Si Kangzhu's orientation changed to gay because of Chen Cheng, his personality is as straight as steel. Chen Cheng's address of "Mr. Si" left him completely bewildered.
The beautiful woman reacted quickly and took the initiative to extend her hand: "Hello, Secretary Chen, I am Miss Zhe's personal bodyguard, Si Xingzhu."
"Hello." Chen Cheng shook hands politely, his eyes subtly and quickly sizing up the person in front of him.
With a tall, curvaceous figure, striking features, and a heroic air about him, he does resemble... Si Kangzhu!
"Your name is Si Xingzhu?!" Chen Cheng's eyes widened. "What's your relationship with Si Kangzhu?!"
Si Xingzhu dropped her serious demeanor and suddenly threw her head back and burst into laughter.
Chen Cheng: "......"
Si Kangzhu's face darkened: "My cousin."
Chen Cheng understood; his dead heart began to beat again.
After laughing, Si Xingzhu clasped her hands in a fist and palm salute: "I apologize for my rudeness on our first meeting, sister-in-law!"
Chen Cheng's scalp tingled. What...what did she call him?!
"I'm off to work, goodbye sister-in-law!" Si Xingzhu walked away with a big smile, her steps bold and out of place with her cheerful laughter.
"You said it?!" Chen Cheng turned to Si Kangzhu, looking at him incredulously.
"Hmm." Si Kangzhu still spoke very little, but the emotions surging in her eyes were violently fluctuating.
Chen Cheng frowned, his eyes welling up again. This seemingly straight man had actually come out as gay?!
Seeing the light in his eyes, Si Kangzhu nervously grabbed his hand: "Chen Cheng..."
A guy who's like a straight man in steel, once you call his name, he doesn't know how to coax you anymore.
Chen Cheng chuckled: "You! All talk and no action!"
Her voice was slightly coquettish as she complained that Si Kangzhu would tell others about their relationship but wouldn't do anything pleasurable with him!
Si Kangzhu's eyes flickered fiercely, and she grabbed the person and led them outside.
"What are you doing?!" Chen Cheng grabbed him.
"Go back and do it!"
Chen Cheng stopped in his tracks: "I have something to discuss with Xu xx!"
Si Kangzhu also stopped in her tracks: "Then I'll wait for you."
Chen Cheng blushed, turned around, and ran into the house...
Xu Zhengxi listened to what Chen Cheng said in the study, and his face became terribly grim.
Chen Cheng said that Xu Zhe asked the counselor for leave, but Xu Zhe told him that she was going to school when she left home early in the morning.
Chen Cheng looked bewildered: "Miss Zhe went to school? Let me ask Qiu Ming!"
Xu Zhengxi stood up: "No need."
After saying that, he left the study, with Chen Cheng following behind. He thought to himself, "Xu Zhe is really hard to manage. Xu XX has such a problem child; he can't control him, and he can't spoil him either..."
Then he thought again, Si Kangzhu is waiting for him, and they are going back to do happy things...
Chen Cheng unconsciously quickened his pace, his body heat rising to his face, ears, and neck, which turned bright red.
Si Kangzhu stood on the porch, waiting for the person she had been longing for. The two smiled at each other, then quickly lowered their heads to hide the blush on their faces.
Xu Zhengxi nodded to Si Kangzhu, completely unaware of the change in their expressions.
"Chen Cheng, come with me to the hospital," Xu Zhengxi instructed.
Chen Cheng was taken aback, but quickly came to his senses and followed his leader.
Si Kangzhu stood there, her face gradually darkening...
Qin Yuyang's ward was bustling with activity. In addition to Xu Zhe, Su Nan and Bei Xiaoyu also came to visit their "lifesaver".
Chen Cheng followed Xu Zhengxi in carrying nutritional supplements. Upon seeing the trio from room 202, he blurted out, "Did you all take leave together?!"
Su Nan: "No, Bei Xiaoyu and I didn't ask for leave."
Chen Cheng checked his phone. Yes, it was Monday, a workday for working people and a school day for students.
Bei Xiaoyu's round glasses flashed: "Let's skip class."
Chen Cheng was speechless and shouted that he wanted to call Qiu Ming.
Su Nan and Bei Xiaoyu came up from the left and right and dragged Chen Cheng out of the ward to talk to him.
Xu Zhengxi exchanged pleasantries and expressed her gratitude to Qin Yuyang's parents.
When Qin Yuyang's parents saw that Xu Zhengxi had come in person and had arranged their return to Beidu, they expressed their gratitude repeatedly.
The cheerful atmosphere in the ward had transformed into a formal, respectful one between elders. Xu Zhe and Qin Yuyang exchanged an awkward glance and gave each other a helpless smile.
After a while, the doctor called away Qin Yuyang's parents to discuss the transfer to another hospital, leaving only Xu Zhengxi, Xu Zhe, and Qin Yuyang in the ward.
Xu Zhengxi turned his gaze to Qin Yuyang on the hospital bed, his face cold and his expression unreadable.
Xu Zhexin was greatly alarmed.
"Student Qin," Xu Zhengxi said, "thank you for protecting Xiao Zhe."
Xu Zhe's heart was in his throat.
Qin Yuyang smiled innocently: "Brother Xu Zhe, there's no need to thank me. It's what I should do."
Xu Zhengxi raised an eyebrow, a hint of amusement creeping into his otherwise cold expression: "Brother?"
Xu Zhe's heart pounded so hard it shook the heavens.
Qin Yuyang blinked his clear, large eyes: "Is...something wrong?"
