Wei Ze looked at Xu Zhe carefully and saw that she was sitting upright with her hands clenched into fists at her sides, her eyes were red as if they had been tempered with fire, and she looked like a revolutionary fighter determined to take back everything.
He suppressed a laugh: "You're quite punctual."
"You have one minute to make the call. The rest of you continue with the experiment. Remember to write your reports carefully."
After Wei Ze finished speaking, the girl reached out and snatched her phone from Yao Zhiyuan's hand.
Once, twice, Yao Zhiyuan hesitated for several moments before gritting his teeth and letting go.
The girl dialed 110 with trembling hands, and then began to sob and cry to the dispatcher.
Wei Ze: "......" I'll give you one minute. Are you going to have a long phone conversation?
Xu Zhe: "......"
They're responding to a call, not some neighborhood committee confidante listening to your whining and rambling.
Xu Zhe continued his experiment; the report was due before the end of class. His hand, which had been strained so much earlier, was now trembling and he could barely hold the test tubes!
The police station was very efficient; two officers arrived before get out of class was even over.
Upon seeing the police, the girl immediately switched to a period drama mode, crying and pleading for justice, begging the police to uphold the people's rights.
Xu Zhe: "......"
The police officers were also extremely embarrassed and told her not to address them that way and to talk things out properly.
Once the girl finished acting, she started rambling on and on, exaggerating the severity of the three slaps Xu Zhe gave her.
The police officer looked at her face and saw that there was indeed a red handprint. He couldn't help but glance at Xu Zhe, who was standing quietly to the side, and sighed that this girl looked so gentle and refined, but her hand was so strong!
"You can go to the hospital to get your injuries checked later," the police officer suggested.
The girl nodded repeatedly, secretly pleased that the police had given her advice; they were teaching her how to thoroughly investigate and prove Xu Zhe's crimes!
"What do you have to say about the accusations against her?" After listening to her talk for a long time, the police officer turned to Xu Zhe and asked her to hear what she had to say.
Xu Zhe remained calm and pointed to the camera on the laboratory wall: "Please retrieve the surveillance footage; it contains evidence of her spreading rumors and insulting me."
The police officer looked in the direction she was pointing and indeed found a security camera.
"Alright, you two come with us to the station."
The girl followed the police officer angrily, while Xu Zhe also started walking, sending messages to Si Xingzhu as he went.
Although she was the one who was falsely accused, she did indeed lay a hand on him. If the other party didn't settle, she would inevitably spend two days in detention. She didn't want to be bullied and punished, so she had to get Xu Zhengxi's people to step in.
At the police station, because the surveillance footage fully reconstructed the conflict, the police officers were able to conduct their questioning concisely.
The statement had just been taken when Xu Zhengxi's men arrived.
"Si Kangzhu?!" Xu Zhe was quite surprised to see him. Wasn't this person on a business trip with Xu Zhengxi? Why is he here?!
Si Kangzhu nodded to Xu Zhe, but before she could speak, Si Xingzhu bumped into her heavily from behind: "I called him as soon as I received your message. I can handle the fighting skills by myself, but if we need to mobilize the young master's resources, we can only send this person."
"How about that? Am I clever?! Aren't you impressed by my courage and resourcefulness?"
Si Xingzhu was very outspoken and kept bumping into Si Kangzhu while talking, as if he wanted to spar with him at any moment.
"I'm convinced." Xu Zhe went along with her; as long as she was happy, that was enough.
Si Kangzhu: "Miss Zhe, I'll handle the rest. You and Si Xingzhu can go back to school first."
Xu Zhe nodded: "I don't want to let her mistake go so easily."
Si Kangzhu: "Of course, I've already brought the lawyer with me."
"And another thing," Xu Zhe said seriously, "we need to find out the source of the rumors. Those nonsensical things couldn't have just appeared out of thin air."
Si Kangzhu looked at Xu Zhe intently, sensing that she was different from before. She had lost her innocent and naive student air, and instead resembled more the wife of his young master.
"Understood, we will definitely investigate thoroughly and punish them severely!"
Xu Zhe nodded and followed Si Xingzhu out of the police station.
Once inside the car, the driver naturally headed towards Nancheng University.
Xu Zhe, however, told him to make a U-turn at the traffic light ahead.
"Miss Zhe, where are you going?"
"The Xu Residence".
The driver made a U-turn at the traffic light and headed towards Xu's residence.
Si Xingzhu asked her, "Why are you going back to the Xu residence? Aren't you going back to school? There's still soup simmering in my dorm! Abalone and free-range chicken, it's incredibly nourishing!"
"I'll drop you off at the next intersection, then you can take a taxi back." Xu Zhe's expression was indifferent; he just wanted to get back to the Xu residence as soon as possible.
Si Xingzhu pouted: "No need, I'll just ask Su Nan to go down and watch the soup for me."
Throughout the journey, Xu Zhe remained silent, only occasionally reminding drivers who were a step behind when the light turned green.
Her heart was already burning with anxiety, and she longed to fly back.
They finally arrived at the Xu residence. Before the car had even come to a complete stop in front of the porch, the back door was opened, and Xu Zhe jogged into the house.
"Miss Zhe, you're back." Butler Zhou followed.
"Where is Xu Zhengxi?" She ran towards the bedroom.
"No, the young master is in the study."
Xu Zhe immediately turned around and ran towards the study. She didn't even have time to ask who was in the study or whether it was convenient to go in now; she just pushed the door open and went in.
There was no one in the outer council chamber, so Xu Zhe continued walking in, passing the library, and pushed open the solid wood door to the innermost room.
Xu Zhengxi was sitting behind his desk, upright and dignified, but the moment he saw Xu Zhe, surprise appeared on his usually calm and composed face, followed by undisguised joy and tenderness.
"You're back." Xu Zhe took two steps into the room, then suddenly stopped.
Xu Zhengxi wasn't alone in the room; several unfamiliar people were sitting on chairs on either side of the door.
