The family doctor, along with Butler Zhou and Si Kangzhu, were developing a health regimen specifically for the young master based on his daily routine. Suddenly, a servant ran over to inform him to go to the living room for treatment of his external injuries.
"Who's injured?" Butler Zhou asked anxiously. He hoped it wasn't the young master! His body was already exhausted; if he were injured and bleeding, it would be disastrous!
The maid replied, "Miss Zhe asked me to fetch a doctor. We haven't had time to see who's injured yet."
Butler Zhou exclaimed "Ouch!" and hurried to the living room. The doctor Miss Zhe had called was very likely the young master!
Si Kangzhu also went with the doctor.
The three of them rushed to the living room and immediately surrounded Xu Zhengxi.
Si Kangzhu: "Young Master."
Butler Zhou: "Young Master!"
Doctor: Where are you injured?
Xu Zhengxi paused for a moment, then gestured with his chin toward Pei Yun: "She's Pei Yun's... friend."
He still couldn't bring himself to say the word "boyfriend." Although he accepted and supported it, he couldn't truly integrate into the relationship.
Pei Yun was squatting in front of Su Nan, pressing a tissue to her forehead. Large and small drops of blood were scattered on the gleaming stone floor, and a broken teacup lay on the ground as the murder weapon.
The doctor rushed over to take over the work of stopping the bleeding, while the housekeeper, Zhou, arranged for someone to clean up the ground.
Pei Li sat on the sofa with a stern face, somewhat regretting his impulsiveness. Why couldn't he control himself and hit someone? If Su Nan hadn't come to his rescue in time, it would be Pei Yun with a bloody head right now.
This Su Nan is something else. Couldn't she have used her hands or something else to block it? Why did she have to use her own body to block it? Was she trying to play the victim and soften their hearts, to move Pei Yun?!
Hmph! He thought this tomboy was simple-minded, but it turns out he's a scheming guy!
Su Nan's bleeding stopped, and the doctor applied medicine and bandaged her up.
Pei Yun felt a little relieved and turned to face Pei Li: "Dad! You've gone too far!"
Pei Li clenched his right fist and slammed it heavily on the sofa armrest, ready to start cursing.
"Old Pei, you've gone too far!" Auntie, who hadn't spoken until now, finally spoke up.
"You..." Pei Li was so embarrassed by the retort that he swallowed his words.
"Big brother, you've gone too far!" Pei Xun couldn't stand it anymore either.
"You guys...!" Pei Li was absolutely furious.
"Uncle, you..."
"Don't speak!"
Before Xu Zhengxi could finish speaking, Pei Li yelled at him to stop. Everyone started criticizing him!
"You little wolf cub, if you've got the guts, don't say it in front of me, go talk to your grandfather! See if the old man can tolerate this kind of thing happening to the Pei family!"
Xu Zhengxi was yelled at for a while, but instead of getting angry, he laughed: "Uncle, what you mean is that if Grandpa doesn't object, you won't interfere anymore?"
Pei Li snorted: "I bet the moment you open your mouth, your grandfather will be whipping you again!"
"Heh, Grandpa is much more open-minded than you," Xu Zhengxi asked Si Kangzhu. "Did the old man slap you last time?"
Si Kangzhu: "No, although the master was surprised, he still blessed us."
Pei Li's brows furrowed into a deep frown. Last time? Surprise? And blessings? What were they talking about?!
"What does this have to do with Si Kangzhu?" He glanced at Si Kangzhu.
Seeing Su Nan's tomboyish appearance, Pei Yun's concerned attitude towards her, and the state of the family, Si Kangzhu roughly guessed what had happened.
“Pei xx.” Si Kangzhu addressed Pei Li by his official title. “Last time I went back to the Pei family, I brought my boyfriend to visit the old master, and he blessed us.”
"Huh? You have a girlfriend?" Pei Li was a little surprised. Si Kangzhu was usually so serious and busy all the time, yet he had a girlfriend... No! He wasn't talking about a girlfriend just now!
"You just said, boyfriend?!" His head felt like it had been hit by a missile.
“You also know my boyfriend, Chen Cheng, who used to be the young master’s secretary.” Si Kangzhu didn’t shy away from the topic; he was so proud of his relationship that he wanted to show it off to the whole world.
"Chen-Cheng?!" Pei Li felt his worldview crumbling. What on earth was going on?!
Si Kangzhu, he'd watched this brat grow up. He'd practiced martial arts since childhood, honing his skills to a formidable level, raised by his grandfather and great-grandfather to be as tough as steel. And yet… he actually liked men?!
His mind was completely blown apart.
"Sigh—!" Pei Li let out a heavy sigh. He couldn't stay in this place any longer. Just looking at these people was a headache!
Pei Yun, let her be!
"Sigh!" Pei Li sighed again, shook his head, and walked out of the living room and left the Xu residence without saying goodbye to anyone.
With the biggest opponent gone, Pei Yun walked over and sat down next to her mother.
"Mother."
She looked at the fine lines on her mother's face. No matter how well she took care of herself, an unhappy marriage had worn her down and made her look pale. No amount of skincare products or makeup could hide the pallor.
“Yunyun, I…” Auntie couldn’t continue. She seemed to have no right to object to her pursuit of happiness.
Her failure only served as a negative example for her daughter, so she felt that any further lecturing from her would be a joke.
“Mom, your lack of objection is the greatest support you can give me.” Pei Yun hugged her arm. “You’ve met Su Nan, she’s a good person.”
My aunt nodded, her eyes red: "As long as they're good to you."
Pei Yun finally smiled. Hearing her mother say that, it meant she wouldn't vote against it!
She and Su Nan exchanged a glance, so happy they wanted to throw a party!
"Cousin, I want to throw a party at your place and invite our friends over to celebrate our successful meeting with your parents!" Pei Yun rarely let loose, abandoning her usual composed demeanor as a well-bred young lady.
