Inside Xu Shixin's study.
"A Pixiu destiny?!"
Xu Jinheng raised his voice high, his face full of disbelief.
His father actually told him that Xu Zhe's birthday could not only bring good luck and prolong his grandfather's life, but also that he had a rare Pixiu destiny!
"So, big brother...?"
Xu Jinheng quickly made the connection.
If Xu Zhe truly possesses the destiny of a Pixiu (a mythical creature), then his elder brother's rapid ascension to immortality was actually aided by mystical influences.
"Um."
Xu Shixin nodded. His second son was indeed quick to understand.
“After your grandfather passed away, I originally planned to transfer Xu Zhe’s Pixiu destiny to him.”
"I didn't expect your older brother to take him away."
Xu Shixin sighed almost imperceptibly.
Xu Jinheng recalled that during his grandfather's funeral, while the mourning hall was still set up at the Xu residence and the funeral procession had not yet taken place, he heard from the servants that his elder brother had taken Xu Zhe away.
At the time, he was unaware of what had happened.
I don't understand why my usually aloof older brother would suddenly take Xu Zhe away.
He was soon transferred to Beidu, and two years later, he never returned to the Xu family.
If their father hadn't taken the initiative to bring them to visit, they wouldn't know when they would have been able to see their eldest brother.
“Her destiny can be used by your elder brother, which is equivalent to bringing good fortune to our Xu family.”
Xu Shixin concealed his resentment, speaking in a normal tone.
"No wonder my older brother is so protective of Xu Zhe!"
Xu Jinheng has found the answer to today's question.
Xu Shih-hsin declined to comment on his second son's words.
He could see the eldest son's attitude clearly; it wasn't just about protecting the mascot.
Moreover, the Pixiu recognizes its owner.
For a Pixiu's destiny to be transferred to a new owner, it needs "special contact."
Xu Shixin's eyes darkened as he thought of this.
If it weren't for this special circumstance, I wouldn't have been interested in forcing a young girl in the first place.
After the father and son finished their conversation, Xu Jinheng came out of his father's study.
Walking through the Xu family's old house, which had been built half a century ago, his mind was filled with the weight of the family's history and the mystique of fortune-telling.
Suddenly, a voice burst forth from the earth:
What would happen if he were to obtain that Pixiu destiny?
The sudden thought startled Xu Jinheng.
Realizing what was happening, he shook his head vigorously, trying to shake the thought off.
Father is right. He should work with his elder brother, each fulfilling their respective duties, in order to ensure the prosperity of the family.
Xu Jinheng calmed himself down, deliberately trying not to think about those fantastical things.
On the other end,
After listening to Ye Juan's words, Xu Jinhan sank into the sofa alone.
Her mother told her all this for the same reason as her father: to warn her not to provoke Xu Zhe again.
but......
Is she really willing to let that bastard go like this?
How is that possible?!
But she was afraid of her father's warning.
Xu Jinhan crossed her arms over her chest, her mind filled with humiliating tactics.
Going there in a grand manner is not an option.
That......
Borrowing life? Borrowing luck?
Xu Jinhan suddenly thought of something, and the gloom that had been on her face for so long instantly dissipated.
She couldn't help but chuckle twice, a sinister smile playing on her lips.
In Lingnan, the summer sun is scorching.
Xu Zhe, however, felt a bone-chilling cold.
She sat on Xu Zhengxi's lap, snuggling into his arms, but she was still cold.
"Xiao Zhe".
A warm, large hand covered her face and gently lifted it up.
Xu Zhe looked up.
"Xiao Zhe".
He called her again, his gaze shifting slightly as he carefully observed every expression on her small face.
"They will not be allowed to come here in the future."
Xu Zhengxi made a promise to her.
His voice was soft, as if he was afraid of frightening her again.
Xu Zhe looked up blankly, but his gaze was unfocused.
"I only found out they had come uninvited after being informed by the guards."
There won't be a next time.
Xu Zhengxi explained and made a promise again.
The person in his arms met his gaze with a pair of dark eyes, which finally focused, but remained lifeless.
He was slightly breathless, unsure how to comfort her.
Take her to get close to nature, to see the mountains and the sea?
Or should we venture out into populated areas, stroll around, and enjoy ourselves?
Or perhaps a romantic affair could help cover up those dark memories?
I thought about it for a long time, but couldn't find a suitable solution.
Looking at the silent little face in his arms, he couldn't help but feel powerless.
Xu Zhengxi suddenly realized that coaxing her was much more difficult than handling political affairs.
He sighed softly, letting her bury her head in his chest.
Let her stay like this if she wants to.
Xu Zhengxi adjusted his position and continued to hold her, sitting on the sofa in the living room.
The two remained silent for a while.
Until Butler Zhou gently knocked on the door.
"Young Master, Secretary Chen has arrived."
Butler Zhou stood outside the door to announce the news.
Xu Zhengxi looked down and saw the little girl with dark, doe-like eyes, nestled in his arms, not moving at all.
Let her be.
Xu Zhengxi indulged her rare moments of willfulness.
"Have Secretary Chen come over."
Xu Zhengxi instructed the butler, "Put a chair at the door."
Butler Zhou was somewhat surprised, as the young master usually sent people to his study to handle official business.
Despite the unusual circumstances, Steward Zhou immediately complied.
Secretary Chen sat at the door of the master bedroom, reporting to Xu Zhengxi through the five-centimeter-wide opening.
Secretary Chen addressed Xu Zhengxi by his title, then inquired, "The meeting at 3 PM..."
"It will be held on time."
Xu Zhengxi gave instructions from inside the room, holding Xu Zhe in her arms and maintaining the original posture.
