Chapter 23 Accept your punishment, young man.

Xu Zhe apologized, but his voice lacked strength, revealing his guilty conscience.

Xu Zhengxi continued to hold the person down, neither speaking nor letting go.

Xu Zhe's back, pressed against the wall, felt cool.

"The young man was inconsiderate; please forgive him, Mr. Xu."

She begged for mercy, adding his title after his surname.

Her dark eyes sparkled as she feigned pitifulness towards him.

Xu Zhengxi stared at her intently: "Accept your punishment, young man."

Xu Zhe closed his eyes as if resigned to his fate.

.........

It was a crisp, cool morning, before dawn.

Half asleep and half awake, Xu Zhe heard a noise beside him.

She opened her eyes groggily and saw Xu Zhengxi dressed neatly.

Where are you going?

Her voice was soft and sleepy, as if she hadn't fully woken up yet.

"Going on a business trip to Xia City."

Xu Zhengxi sat back down next to her and ruffled her hair.

Are you going back today?

Xu Zhe continued to ask.

"I'll be back the day after tomorrow."

Xu Zhengxi replied.

Xu Zhe lowered his head, a heavy feeling settling over him.

She understood that this feeling was called loss.

He was leaving, and she couldn't bear to let him go.

Xu Zhe thought that it must be because he met the Xu family that he suddenly became so dependent on them.

"What?" Xu Zhengxi gently lifted her chin.

Disappointment.

"I can't bear to part with it."

She answered truthfully.

Xu Zhengxi paused, his eyelashes fluttering slightly, and remained silent for a long while.

He went through the itinerary and confirmed that there was no room for compression.

If we come back at night and then go to Xia City the next day, six hours will be wasted on the road.

After much thought, there was only one solution.

"Come with me?" Xu Zhengxi asked for her opinion.

"Is that possible?" Xu Zhe asked in surprise. Can you bring your family on a business trip?

All his itineraries and the places he visited were arranged in advance.

Security was tight, and staff members accompanied me at all times.

“Come with me,” Xu Zhengxi said firmly.

Xu Zhe smiled, her eyes crinkling, and hooked her arm around his neck: "Okay~"

Secretary Chen arrived at the Xu residence before dawn.

Butler Zhou prepared breakfast for him, which was set on a garden table in a corner of the front yard.

After finishing his breakfast, Secretary Chen sat comfortably in the courtyard drinking tea.

Upon seeing Xu Zhengxi emerge from the front porch, he immediately stood up and hurriedly went to greet him.

"Xu xx".

Secretary Chen addressed Xu Zhengxi by his official title.

"Miss Zhe."

Secretary Chen greeted Xu Zhe, who was standing next to his "boss".

I thought to myself, kids these days really aren't physically fit; they're wearing scarves around their necks in the middle of summer.

After a brief greeting, Secretary Chen led the servants pushing the luggage to place Xu Zhengxi's suitcase in the car.

He closed the trunk, walked to the passenger side, quickly opened the door, and got in.

Before leaving, he rolled down the car window and waved goodbye to Butler Zhou.

The bulletproof official vehicle headed towards the highway entrance, heading towards Xia City as the first rays of dawn broke.

"Xu XX is expected to arrive in Xia City at 10:00 AM..."

Secretary Chen stopped mid-sentence.

As soon as he turned around, he saw the person in the back seat.

“Zhe…Zhe, Miss?!”

Secretary Chen adjusted his glasses to confirm again.

"Oh my..."

Secretary Chen let out a soft exclamation.

He glanced quickly out the window out of the corner of his eye.

At this point, the official vehicle had already passed the toll station and was speeding along the highway.

Xu Zhe: "......"

Oh my god, they've all come out...

"Xu XX." Secretary Chen looked at his boss: "Miss Zhe accidentally followed me out?!"

Before Xu Zhengxi could speak, Secretary Chen turned to the driver and instructed him:

"Driver, take the next highway exit. The Xu family's child was accidentally brought out!"

Xu Zhe: "......"

Xu Zhengxi's...children?

So that's how Secretary Chen guessed her identity.

Xu Zhe remained silent.

She turned to look at Xu Zhengxi.

She noticed that this person's expression was even worse than hers, and she instantly felt less annoyed.

"I'll arrange a car to wait at the next highway exit right away and take Miss Zhe home."

Secretary Chen turned to report to his boss.

"No need," Xu Zhengxi said simply, then looked down at the news.

Secretary Chen glanced at the boss, then looked at Xu Zhe.

Xu Zhe politely replied, "I'm going to Xia City."

Secretary Chen breathed a sigh of relief and told the driver that they didn't need to get off the highway.

Then he turned to chat with Xu Zhe:

"There are many places to visit in Xia City; it's a famous seaside city."

"We should take advantage of the time before school starts to travel more and appreciate the beautiful scenery of our motherland."

"By the way, you got into Nancheng University, right?"

Secretary Chen was very enthusiastic.

Xu Zhe regretted it; she shouldn't have answered the question.

"Yes." Her smile froze slightly, but she continued to respond politely.

"What a coincidence! I also graduated from Nancheng University with a degree in International Economics and Trade."

"Speaking of seniority, he's your senior brother."

"Nancheng University is known as the most beautiful university in H country, you know that, right?"

"That lake on campus..."

Secretary Chen turned his head, but did not see his boss or his junior colleague.

All I could see were leather-covered panels.

I don't know when it rose up.

Secretary Chen: "......"

He coughed awkwardly twice, glancing at the driver out of the corner of his eye.

"They were tired from setting off so early."

After Secretary Chen finished speaking, he yawned and said, "I'm sleepy too, I need to catch up on some sleep."

In the back seat, Xu Zhe leaned close to Xu Zhengxi, tilting his chin up to observe his expression.

Hsu Cheng-hsi kept her eyes straight ahead, continuing to read the news with a serious expression.

Why is that closed?

Xu Zhe pointed to the partition between the back seat and the front row.

"Quarrel."

Xu Zhengxi answered without looking up.

Seeing that he looked like he would go blind if he didn't watch the news, Xu Zhe pouted and moved away from him, sitting up straight.

The carriage quieted down; apart from the noise of the train outside, there were no other sounds.

Xu Zhe pulled off the silk scarf around his neck to let out some fresh air.

In the sweltering summer heat, my neck was completely wrapped up the whole way.

Her shadow was reflected in the car window, blurry, but the marks on her neck were very clear.

Xu Zhe was extremely annoyed by the mess on his neck; he hadn't even managed to eat a duck neck this finely!

Looking at Xu Zhengxi's impeccably dressed appearance, I instantly felt unbalanced.

She calmly went to "teach him a lesson"...

Xu Zhengxi narrowed his eyes, his gaze sharp.
