Jiang Shuning sounds like a woman, but her handwriting looks like a man's.
Curiosity drove Xu Zhe to open WeChat and click on the profile picture of the bookshelf.
The Moments feed only shows the past month's posts, and recently shared content includes book excerpts, news, and landscape photos.
Xu Zhe clicked on the landscape photo.
Such a familiar scene, such a familiar perspective.
Isn't this the Nanshan Mountain they climbed during their training exercise the day before yesterday?
Xu Zhe zoomed in on each picture carefully, and finally saw a distant figure in the last photo.
As luck would have it, she recognized that figure from behind.
This post on WeChat Moments was published a week ago.
A week ago, Xu Zhengxi went to Nanshan with Jiang Shuning, whose gender is unknown.
She had no idea that Xu Zhengxi also had a hobby of mountain climbing...
Su Nan and Bei Xiaoyu were still chatting enthusiastically, but Xu Zhe pursed his lips, and the happiness in his eyes gradually faded.
The three chatted for a while longer until the nurse came in to remind the patient to rest, at which point Su Nan and Bei Xiaoyu said goodbye.
Aunt Lin had just seen the two of them out when the bathroom door was pushed open.
Xu Zhengxi's face was calm and composed, as if she had just come out of the bathroom after washing up.
Xu Zhe kept staring at his expression, trying to see what was hidden beneath that cool and composed face.
"You had a phone call, but I accidentally rejected it."
As Xu Zhe spoke, he handed over his phone, his eyes glued to the face in front of him.
"Um."
Xu Zhengxi answered the phone, tapped the screen a few times with his slender fingers, and then said to her:
"I'm going out to make a phone call."
His tone was natural, his expression was normal, and even his walking and closing of doors were calm and composed.
Xu Zhe's shoulders slumped. What was she wondering?
She and Xu Zhengxi grew closer and closer. She was no longer afraid of him, and now she could freely act coquettishly, act spoiled, and be herself in front of him...
She thought she shouldn't suspect him just because he was of an ambiguous gender.
Xu Zhe composed himself, forced a smile, but couldn't manage to manage a laugh for a long time.
She texted Liang Shile: 【Do you know Jiang Shuning?】
Liang Shile: [You mean Jiang XX's granddaughter?]
Jiang XX... granddaughter?!
With a loud bang, Xu Zhe's head exploded.
In Country H, even children know Jiang Zemin.
That's a big shot on par with Xu Zhengxi's maternal uncle.
Xu Zhengxi and Jiang Shuning?
They truly are people of one world.
She was alone...
Xu Zhe smiled bitterly, realizing that he was the one who had unexpectedly entered their world.
It was all because of some inexplicable so-called destiny, and because Grandpa Xu was superstitious about metaphysics.
Liang Shile's hand speed is very fast:
[Very outstanding, definitely an elite raised in a prominent family. Three years younger than your husband.]
She's alright-looking, but her beauty is nowhere near yours or mine!
Xu Zhe's heart began to ache.
Liang Shile: [How can I properly ask her this?]
Xu Zhe typed a line, thought about it, and then deleted it.
Then type a new line and send it, just like the one you deleted earlier.
Xu Zhe: [I saw her calling and texting an older man. The two had visited Nanshan together a week ago, even climbing to the top, taking photos, and posting them on WeChat Moments.]
This time, Liang Shile's response was unusual.
The chat interface always displays "The other party is typing" at the top.
Xu Zhe typed for ages, but didn't receive a single word.
Seeing Liang Shile, who was usually quick-witted, stammering and unsure of what to say, Xu Zhe's heart sank to the bottom.
She simply put down her phone, refusing to look at Liang Shile's predicament.
The ward door was pushed open, and Xu Zhengxi returned.
His eyes were dark, yet gentle.
"How are you feeling? Are you experiencing any discomfort?"
He sat down on the edge of the bed and habitually reached out to rub the top of her head.
Xu Zhe didn't speak. Following the height difference between the two, his lips were visible at eye level.
The sculpted outline is tinged with a slightly deep cherry blossom color, like fermented red wine, mellow and mature.
I just don't know if it's a scam.
"Are you tired? Do you want to take a break?"
Xu Zhengxi removed a pillow from her back to make it easier for her to lie down.
Xu Zhe didn't say anything, letting him arrange the bedding and help him lie down.
After doing all that, Xu Zhengxi continued to sit by the bed, holding her hand in one hand and stroking her hair with the other.
Who is Jiang Shuning?
Xu Zhe spoke.
The hand that was kneading the hair stopped.
Who is Jiang Shuning?
Xu Zhe continued to ask.
He let go of her hand.
Xu Zhe's heart skipped a beat. Was this usually calm and collected person reacting so obviously to this question?
Xu Zhe chuckled inwardly, his face revealing undisguised sarcasm.
"Who the hell is she?"
Xu Zhe was too exhausted, and unconsciously added profanity to his question, probably to express his anger.
As expected, Xu Zhengxi's face darkened, and his narrowed eyes shot out two cold beams of light, hitting Xu Zhe's face.
Who taught you to talk like that?
His voice wasn't loud, but it was powerful.
Xu Zhe lowered his head, avoiding his gaze.
Who is Jiang Shuning?
She repeated the same words, her voice low and weak.
Xu Zhengxi's breath was strong; although he didn't pant, the airflow between his breaths was very powerful, slapping against Xu Zhe's head again and again.
"You don't need to know."
The cold words crashed down, making Xu Zhe's scalp tingle.
Then came the sound of footsteps walking away, and the click of the ward door opening and closing.
A bone-chilling cold poured down from the top of my head, freezing my entire body.
Xu Zhe pulled the blanket up to his chin.
