Chapter 55 Follow Her

Aunt Lin said she would consult Xu Zhengxi, but Xu Zhe did not express his opinion.

Anyway, her opinion doesn't matter at all. They are all Xu Zhengxi's people, so of course they will only act according to his wishes.

Aunt Lin called Butler Zhou, as only Butler Zhou could contact the young master directly.

"Aunt Lin."

Butler Zhou quickly answered the phone.

Aunt Lin explained Xu Zhe's request and asked Butler Zhou if they should consult the young master.

Butler Zhou paused for a moment, then said, "Young Master is in his study. I'll go over and ask him for instructions."

Aunt Lin's old-fashioned mobile phone is extremely loud. Even without speakerphone, the voice on the other end of the call can be clearly heard by people around her.

Whether intentionally or by oversight, Butler Zhou did not disconnect the phone and kept the call going while consulting Xu Zhengxi.

"Young Master, Miss Zhe was discharged from the hospital today and said she wants to go straight back to school."

Butler Zhou's voice came through clearly and echoed in the carriage.

Xu Zhengxi did not reply immediately, and it was unclear whether he was busy.

However, if he was really busy, Butler Zhou couldn't enter the study.

Mr. Wu eased off the accelerator and maintained a low speed.

The school and the Xu residence are in opposite directions, and he still doesn't know which way to go.

The car behind, probably getting impatient, honked twice and then overtook the other car.

When Xu Zhe was getting impatient, Xu Zhengxi's voice finally came from the other end of the phone:

"Whatever she wants."

Aunt Lin's hand holding the phone trembled slightly as she cautiously looked at Xu Zhe.

Seeing Xu Zhe's indifferent expression, she didn't dare to say more to Butler Zhou and quickly hung up the phone.

"Master Wu, to Nancheng University."

Xu Zhe explained to the driver.

Mr. Wu heard the clear call from the old-fashioned mobile phone, responded, and sped off towards Nancheng University.

Xu Zhe opened the sun visor next to him and turned to look out the car window.

Even though it's past late autumn, the sun in Xia City is still blazing.

Even through the windowpane, Xu Zhe could feel the scorching sun, which made his eyes uncomfortable, causing his body to automatically secrete eye drops to moisten them.

She twisted her head forcefully, trying to turn her back to Aunt Lin.

She didn't want her to see her like this, lest she misunderstand and think she was crying.

Although hearing that "let her be" made me feel incredibly sad, it would be a lie to say I wasn't.

However, Xu Zhe was still very glad that she chose to go back to school, which was much better than going to the Xu residence and facing that person's indifference.

The nanny van was parked in the school parking lot.

I don't know when this car got a campus pass.

This made it much easier for Xu Zhe to get back to his dormitory.

Aunt Lin and Master Wu each carried Xu Zhe's personal belongings. When the three of them arrived at the dormitory building, Su Nan and Bei Xiaoyu, who had received the message, ran downstairs.

After Mr. Wu went up to the girls' dormitory building, Aunt Lin carried his things up in several trips.

Xu Zhe, leaning on her cane, was helped upstairs by Bei Xiaoyu.

We'll have to trouble Su Nan to carry the wheelchair up.

Returning to his long-missed dormitory, after only half a month of living there, Xu Zhe felt like he was coming home.

It doesn't matter if Xu Zhengxi doesn't want her. She still has school to attend, a dormitory to live in, and roommates to keep her company.

Aunt Lin decorated her little nest comfortably, and Su Nan and Bei Xiaoyu helped her with all the chores.

Xu Zhe sat at his desk, so moved he almost cried.

"But Xu Zhe, can you even climb onto the bed with those legs?" Su Nan asked her.

Xu Zhe then realized that the dormitory beds were all bunk beds with desks underneath.

She can't climb the ladder to get into bed because of her leg.

Aunt Lin was also stunned, and sighed softly as she looked at the bed she had arranged.

She really wanted to say that Miss Zhe's dormitory wasn't convenient, and that she should go back.

But hearing the young master's attitude, she dared not offer any advice.

Xu Zhe lowered his head; the courage and optimism he had just mustered were so easily shattered.

Su Nan, however, remained calm and composed.

She observed the arrangement of the dormitory beds; on each of the two walls facing the window, there were two beds placed side by side.

Her bed and Xu Zhe's bed were next to each other, but Su Nan's bed was by the window, while Xu Zhe's bed was by the bathroom and the dormitory door.

“Let me switch beds with you,” Su Nan suggested. “I’ll put a mattress on the floor near the window for you, so you won’t have to climb up and down and you won’t block the middle of the room.”

Upon hearing this, Bei Xiaoyu nodded repeatedly: "Yes, yes, this arrangement is the most suitable."

Xu Zhe glanced at the bed opposite Su Nan; it belonged to Yang Huanhuan.

If you lay a bed on the floor, it will affect some of the floor space.

"How about we wait for Huanhuan to come back and then discuss it together?" Xu Zhe asked.

"Sigh~" Su Nan waved her hand, "Who knows how long it will take for her to come back."

Xu Zhe didn't understand. The dormitory had a curfew, so at least people would come back before the dormitory building closed.

"Don't wait for Huanhuan, she might not even come back when the dormitory is closed." Bei Xiaoyu agreed with Su Nan.

Xu Zhe didn't press Yang Huanhuan for the reason why she didn't return to the dormitory.

Since Yang Huanhuan rarely goes back to the dormitory, sleeping on the floor shouldn't have much of an impact on her.

Aunt Lin had to leave early, so Su Nan and Bei Xiaoyu took care of all the changing of seats and setting up the floor.

They also packed lunch and dinner to take back to their dorm and eat with Xu Zhe.

Xu Zhezhen felt lucky to have met such a good friend.

Exhausted from a long day and still recovering, Xu Zhe slept soundly on his makeshift bed on the floor.

It's more effective than a private hospital room plus melatonin.

I slept soundly until dawn.

The three of them got up sleepily to the sound of their alarm clock ringing at 8 a.m.

Making it to the first class at 8 AM is really against human nature!

Xu Zhe got up and looked at Yang Huanhuan's bed; sure enough, she hadn't returned.

She felt a little relieved and slowly got up to join the washing-up group.

The three of them didn't have time to go to the cafeteria to buy breakfast, so they just grabbed some bread and milk and rushed to the teaching building.

Xu Zhe's books were in Su Nan's backpack, while he carried his own cane as he sat in his wheelchair.

Bei Xiaoyu pushed the wheelchair, finding it all very novel. She praised the lightweight material and the full range of functions.

Su Nan laughed at her the whole way.

When they were almost at the teaching building, with a little time before class, Bei Xiaoyu suddenly had a whimsical idea: she wanted to try what it felt like to sit in a wheelchair.

Su Nan first scolded her for being crazy, and then advised Xu Zhe to satisfy her.

Xu Zhe: "......"

Don't blame her for imagining a yuri (lesbian) novel; Su Nan's favoritism is just too obvious...

So Xu Zhe leaned on his cane, while Bei Xiaoyu sat in a wheelchair.

Bei Xiaoyu tried out the function and then immediately activated the self-driving mode.

The wheelchair moved forward quickly and steadily, leaving behind a trail of giggles on the tree-lined path.

"Slow down!" Su Nan chased after him, worried.

Xu Zhe, leaning on his cane, followed behind, panting heavily.

Unaccustomed to using crutches and walking too fast, she soon became drenched in sweat.

The two had already arrived at the teaching building. Bei Xiaoyu, sitting in a wheelchair, excitedly waved to Xu Zhe.

Xu Zhe's forehead was covered in sweat. Had they forgotten that she was lame? Couldn't they bring her a wheelchair to pick her up?

Looking at the two people again, engrossed in studying the function, Xu Zhe felt like his lungs were about to explode.

There was no other way but to keep struggling forward with the cane.
