Chapter 105: Once a demon, always a demon?

After Qian Shudie had walked into the bushes for a long time, she suddenly entered a barrier.

This barrier could block out external perception. She looked around curiously, and suddenly sensed someone behind her.

She turned around and saw Su Nian looking at her, arms crossed, her eyes filled with a serious and interrogative look. "How did you end up here?"

Qian Shudie playfully stuck out her tongue, scratched her head, and stood there straight like a child who had done something wrong. "I just wanted to... come and see you..."

Su Nian frowned and scolded, "The war of the hundred races has just ended, and the war between the two realms is about to begin. At this critical juncture, as the princess of the Illusion Demon Clan, instead of staying in the Demon Emperor City, you actually came to Quanxiu alone. Do you know that if you are discovered, you won't have enough lives to kill you!"

Feeling extremely wronged by such a reprimand, Qian Shudie felt a pang of sadness, and her eyes reddened.

She opened her mouth, wanting to explain, but all the words she wanted to say stuck in her throat and ultimately turned into a weak apology.

"sorry……"

Su Nian looked at her seriously, unmoved by Qian Shudie's pitiful expression.

"I shouldn't have caused you trouble..." Qian Shudie stirred her two slender index fingers together, her red lips slightly pouting. She lowered her head and carefully looked at Su Nian, observing every subtle expression on his face.

"Don't try to win my sympathy with that expression." Su Nian saw through the girl's trick at a glance, and her heart softened involuntarily.

Even though he was soft-hearted, he still emphasized in a cold and hard voice: "This place is too dangerous for a demon like you. You should immediately withdraw from the Quanxiu Sect trial, and I will personally escort you back to the Demon Realm."

"Eh? No way~" Qian Shudie grabbed Su Nian's hand and shook it.

"I don't want to go back! I still have things to finish here!"

"What is it?" Su Nian asked curiously.

Qian Shudie said decisively, "Find the Immortal Realm Mountain! Find the Immortal Realm Mountain Spring!"

"Immortal Realm Mountain?"

After gathering information over the past few days, Su Nian understood what the so-called Immortal Mountain was.

According to the unified narrative of several storytellers, Immortal Mountain is the pillar supporting heaven and earth, existing in a mysterious place unknown to anyone.

Legend has it that at the foot of Immortal Mountain lies a celestial spring, a lake with the power to revive the dead and transform demons into humans.

Upon hearing Qian Shudie's purpose for coming here, Su Nian shook her head helplessly and said, "Those are all fabrications by those storytellers. The Immortal Realm Mountain is ethereal and elusive; no one has ever seen it with their own eyes. How can you be sure that the Immortal Realm Mountain really exists in this world?"

"Why not?" Qian Shudie stared intently at Su Nian, her voice becoming more resolute. "The storytellers initially said that you were an abandoned baby drifting on the surface of a mountain spring and lake in the Immortal Realm, and that you were later taken in by Fairy Liuli. At first, I didn't believe it, but a few days ago, when I heard Quanxiu's disciple say that you personally admitted it, I suddenly changed my mind! You must be a true immortal reincarnated from heaven! Otherwise, how could you have such powerful abilities?"

Su Nian never expected that a reason he made up on the spot would unintentionally strengthen Qian Shudie's belief. However, he could explain this absurd theory clearly.

"First of all, the story about me being the reincarnation of a Celestial Emperor is a fabrication of mine." Su Nian held up one finger and said, "Moreover, the place where Fairy Su picked me up was just an ordinary lake. What celestial spring? That's all nonsense!"

"Did she tell you this herself?" Qian Shudie stared intently at Su Nian.

Su Nian did not answer the question.

"As expected... you didn't know anything about your origins either, did you? You're so strong, I don't think the storyteller was lying!" Qian Shudie said with absolute certainty, clenching her fists and saying heavily, "I must find the Immortal Realm Spring, and then! Become human!"

Su Nian was stunned.

He saw Qian Shudie looking at him with such unwavering eyes, and his heart was filled with mixed emotions.

He looked at Qian Shudie with complicated emotions. "Are you sure? You have such excellent bloodline. There's really no need to wash it away. Once you become human, you will lose everything you have now."

Qian Shudie shook her head and said firmly, "I'm not afraid! I don't care about those things!"

"The human world is not much better than the demon world." Su Nian shook her head.

Qian Shudie stared at Su Nian with her burning eyes, making the latter unable to meet her gaze directly, and guiltily shifting her eyes to the side.

"You should know why I want to become human, right?" Qian Shudie asked, looking at Su Nian's profile.

Su Nian remained silent.

Suddenly, Qian Shudie laughed.

His smile, however, was somewhat bleak.

"In your heart, once a demon, always a demon?"

“No, that’s not what I meant.” Su Nian shook her head and sighed. “The springs of the Immortal Realm are ethereal and elusive. You really don’t need to risk your life in the Nine Provinces for those legendary stories that no one has ever seen.”

“When I was a child, my mother would often tell me bedtime stories to lull me to sleep.”
