Chapter 184 The Emperor's Ideal

Night falls, and the tranquility of the night quietly envelops the earth. A bright moon hangs high in the sky, casting its cool, clear light.

The demon camp was completely silent, as if swallowed up by the stillness.

In one corner of the camp, there is a luxurious mansion surrounded by lush gardens and a shimmering pond.

Wan Cangqiong stood quietly by the pond, his tall and upright figure reflected in the water, shining brightly alongside the moon.

The water in the pond was as clear as a mirror, reflecting the twinkling stars in the sky and the pensive face of the vast heavens.

He gazed silently at his reflection, as if conversing with another self. Occasionally, a few fish would leap out of the water, breaking the tranquility and creating ripples before quickly disappearing back underwater.

The evening breeze gently caressed Wan Cangqiong's hair, bringing a touch of coolness.

He closed his eyes slightly, feeling the caress of the breeze, his thoughts drifting away. In this quiet moment, he was far removed from the hustle and bustle of the world, immersed in the tranquility deep within his heart.

A patrol of demonic soldiers, clad in black armor and wielding sharp spears, marched past him in orderly steps. Their eyes were sharp as eagles, and they exuded a powerful and imposing aura. The leader, a burly man with a stern face, held a massive axe in his hand, its blade gleaming coldly.

When he saw Wan Cangqiong, he stopped and respectfully clasped his hands in a salute to Wan Cangqiong.

"Greetings, Commander!"

Wan Cangqiong nodded slightly in agreement, his gaze sweeping over the group of a dozen or so people before him. At this moment, his voice was cold and calm, seemingly completely different from the brave, fearless, and unrestrained man he was during the day—like two diametrically opposed individuals.

"Is everything as usual?" he asked calmly, as if he already knew the answer.

The leading general respectfully clasped his hands in salute and replied, "Reporting to the commander, everything is normal and without error! We have not detected anything unusual!" His voice was firm and powerful, revealing his confidence in his observations.

"That's good. You can go patrol other places. I'll be enough to keep watch here," Wan Cangqiong said calmly, glancing at the generals.

"Yes, sir!" the general said, clasping his hands in greeting. He then led a well-trained demon army away from the area.

The night was quiet, and any sound of wind or noise seemed particularly jarring.

Wan Cangqiong stood there for a long time, bent down, and looked at the fish leaping happily in the pond, a faint smile appearing on his lips.

A dark cloud drifted by, obscuring the bright moon. As the cloud left the moon, in the reflection on the water, besides Wan Cangqiong, there was another person.

The Human Emperor stood on the eaves under the moonlight, looking down at Wan Cangqiong who was admiring the fish, and said indifferently, "General Wan, you have quite the refined taste. Did you specially send the other demons away just to admire the fish?"

Wan Cangqiong smiled and said, "Fish are afraid of people and will hide at the slightest noise, so it's only right to send them away."

"Is that so... But some fish aren't afraid of people."

"Because they weren't fish to begin with, they can go along with the corrupt practices."

"To go along with the crowd... I never expected you to use such a word."

"Isn't that so? Aren't those mutated fish just as unpredictable as people?"

The Human Emperor slowly descended.

He landed smoothly behind Wan Cangqiong.

Wan Cangqiong turned around, clasped his hands, and knelt down.

"Junior Wan Cangqiong greets Your Majesty!"

The Human Emperor looked at Wan Cangqiong with great interest, scrutinizing him from head to toe, and asked, "Are you human?"

Wan Cangqiong shook his head.

"Then you are a mutated demon?" the Human Emperor asked again.

Wan Cangqiong hesitated, clenching his fist.

The Human Emperor said calmly, "Could it be that you are half-human and half-demon?"

Wan Cangqiong gave a wry smile and said, "As expected... Your Majesty has discerning eyes; you saw right through me."

"Your deliberate actions make it hard for me not to suspect your identity." The Human Emperor narrowed his sharp eyes, fixing them on Wan Cangqiong with extreme danger. "Take off your disguise! Let me take a good look!"

Wan Cangqiong hesitated, but still removed the aura he had been concealing.

When the aura of that half-human, half-demon was revealed before the Human Emperor, a slight ripple stirred in the Human Emperor's heart, which had been calm for many years.

Half-human, half-demon! Truly half-human, half-demon!

Before the birth of the Human Emperor, for thousands of years, there had never been a half-human, half-demon being born!

Demons and humans have a strong reproductive barrier; even succubi, who are known for their lust, are unable to have offspring with humans.

The Human Emperor is the only example of this in the past tens of millions of years!

For the world, his birth was a "mistake".

He was subjected to doubt from birth. His birth mother died in childbirth, and his birth father regarded him as an unfortunate monster, bullying him every day during his childhood and using him as a tool to vent his anger.

He grew up in pain and despair, his heart filled with despair and disgust for the world.

Therefore, he swore from a young age that if he could survive and become emperor, he would kill everything! He would exterminate all races, including humans and demons!

Later, under the guidance of a master by chance, he learned how to disguise his demonic half.

To outsiders, he had completely become a different person.

He studied diligently, entered the Human Emperor's Palace, and used various means to eliminate all his competitors. In the end, he murdered the previous Human Emperor and took his place.

Because of his extraordinary life, he was acutely aware that being half-human and half-demon was unacceptable to the Nine Provinces and the Demon Realm.
