32 "Can you teach me how to fall in love?"
After sending Huang Shengsheng off, Tao Wanjia and He Yu found a random shop on the roadside to have breakfast.
Northern wontons have large fillings and thick skins. After two large bowls were served, Tao Wanjia talked to He Yu about the wild wontons she had eaten in South City before. The crystal clear wontons set up at the roadside stall in the early morning were her midnight snack after a tiring overtime job.
"At that time, I thought the best food in South City was wild wontons."
Tao Wanjia smiled with emotion and asked, "What about you?"
She had heard him talk about South City since she was little. He Yu described it as a perfect city with a perfect climate and beautiful scenery. In the first year or two after he arrived in Rongcheng, he mentioned it repeatedly because he missed it so much.
But he didn't say anything later, but Tao Wanjia had left a mark in his heart. They both stubbornly regarded each other's hometown as their own, on two tracks that coincided yet intersected. Fortunately, they had different paths and ended up in the same place, both in Rongcheng.
"I don't have anything I like." He Yu paused for a moment, not knowing whether to be glad or regretful.
After returning to China, he had been looking for her for so long, visiting every city except Nancheng. He didn't know if it was fate or he was just too stupid, but he had wasted so much time.
Tao Wanjia noticed that he was distracted and was about to ask when a message popped up on his phone.
That was Zhao Kuo's reply. She had originally wanted to inquire about other possible channels for disclosing the information, but online media had similarly limited influence. Zhao Kuo was shocked that she had begun investigating again even before her injuries had healed. He initially wanted to stop her, but after reading the text, he decided to help her make further inquiries.
It's not because she is still hurt, but simply because of the courage to reveal the ugly and dark side.
But unfortunately, a person's power is limited after all, and even if you try your best, it still won't work.
Tao Wanjia sighed, replied, and hung up the phone. He Yu asked her what was wrong, and she shook her head and said nothing was wrong.
After dinner, He Yu sent her home, and then went to the construction site of the health care center as scheduled.
More than two months later, the originally barren land now has a solid foundation, and everything is progressing as planned.
In the afternoon he was dealing with a backlog of matters at the company. Time passed unknowingly, and he was interrupted by the noise outside just when he had finished his busy work.
Xiao Zhang walked into the office in a hurry with an embarrassed look on his face, and Deng Zixiong followed behind him and sat down on the sofa with a swagger.
"Boss He, am I really that unpopular with you?"
Deng Zixiong took out a cigarette and lit it up. "I've invited you twice, but you've always declined. I've never been treated so badly before. But as the old saying goes, if the mountain doesn't come to me, I'll go to it..."
The man stretched his lips, his smile dark as he puffed out smoke. "Then I had no choice but to come in person to see if you're really busy or if you're just being rude."
He Yu hated the smell of cigarettes, and he hated even more the uninvited guest who appeared in his office so brazenly.
Deng Zixiong had always been rebellious, having lived in Rongcheng for so many years. The gesture before him seemed more like a threat than an invitation. Xiao Zhang frowned slightly, and as he was pondering a countermeasure, He Yu gave him a look that told him to leave.
"Mr. Deng, you're joking. There's still time for a meal."
He Yu met the man's gaze calmly, speaking softly, "I was indeed busy the past few days. To express my apology, I'll treat you to dinner today."
Deng Zixiong stood up, still with a forced smile on his face, "I'm so sorry, the table is already reserved and I'm just waiting for Mr. He to come."
He Yu was unsure about Deng Zixiong's invitation, but he still agreed for the sake of the face he got. Before leaving the company, he asked Xiao Zhang to pick up the child from the kindergarten. At the end, he sent a message to Tao Wanjia saying that he might be back late.
The restaurant is located at the foot of a mountain in the suburbs, surrounded by a golf course. It is all Deng Zixiong's private property. It is luxuriously decorated, and the hall is so empty that there are only idle waiters.
As we sat down, the dishes prepared in the kitchen were served on the table one after another.
Deng Zixiong opened a bottle of wine and tasted it with him with great interest.
He Yu was observing and trying to figure things out from the opposite side, but he really couldn't guess his complicated thoughts.
"Mr. Deng, if you have something to say, just say it." He has always had no patience with people he is not interested in.
Deng Zixiong knew that this person was difficult to deal with, so he poured the wine slowly. When he returned to his seat, he raised his hand to signal his assistant to bring the food up.
"It's easy to talk to smart people. I want to discuss cooperation with Mr. He. How about we win together?"
The man pushed a map over to him on the dark tablecloth. He Yu lowered his eyes to look at it. It was a topographic planning map of the northern mountainous area of Rongcheng.
Businessmen don't need to be too explicit. Deng Zixiong crossed his arms and slowly explained while He Yu was still thinking, "This place will be a big piece of meat in the future. I wonder if Mr. He would like to take it over with me?"
He Yu averted his gaze from the blueprint, quickly realizing his purpose. There was currently no information available about this area; it was completely closed or undisclosed. He didn't doubt Deng Zixiong's connections and abilities, but he also knew that people like him lacked conscience. Partnering with him would mean taking risks to profit, which was absolutely unacceptable.
Regardless of whether Deng Zixiong wanted to drag him into the water or simply wanted to make peace with him, He Yu had no intention of having any relationship with someone like him.
He smiled and said, "Boss Deng is really direct."
Mindful of the dinner, He Yu temporarily avoided the question, picked up his glass and drank with him, changing the subject to something else. Deng Zixiong saw that his attitude was relaxed, and after a few drinks, he became more and more arrogant. He thought he had moved this person with his benefits, so he talked more and more, without any reservations.
He Yu was listening when he suddenly stood up. "I'm sorry, Mr. Deng," he said in a deep voice, putting down his glass and gazing intently at the drunken man beside him.
"I'm used to taking the path I'm familiar with. I always think the unknown, even the shortcut, is a trap."
Deng Zixiong understood what he said, stared at his back and yelled -
"I'm giving you a chance."
The cutlery fell to the ground with a bang. Deng Zixiong gritted his teeth and said, "He Yu, if you still want to stay in Rongcheng, then don't refuse my toast and drink the wine!"
In his heart, he should be grateful that He Yu had condescended to ask him for a project like this. Others would beg for it, but this man not only refused it but also humiliated him in this way. Deng Zixiong knew that He Yu was a stubborn person, but he didn't expect him to be so stubborn.
He Yu turned around and looked at him. "Deng Zixiong, people should have some bottom line so that they can sleep peacefully at night. What do you think?"
The glass revolving door faces outwards, and the man's tall figure walks farther and farther away in the thick night.
Deng Zixiong regained his composure, and the disheveled man hiding in the backstage was brought out tremblingly. He crawled on the soft carpet at his feet, looking across with a face full of fear and flattery.
"Boss Deng, please give me a way out, I beg you!"
The assistant standing next to him brushed away the man's hand that was tightly grabbing the corner of his trousers. Deng Zixiong leaned back in his chair, his anger still surging.
"What I hate most is the arrogance and pride of these playboys. They don't care about money themselves, and they don't let others make money. Do you think this is right, Vice President Sun?"
Deng Zixiong took the cigar handed to him by the waiter, and did not even look at Vice President Sun who was lying on the ground like a lost dog. He closed his eyes with the cigarette in his mouth, and while thinking about countermeasures, he also thought that sooner or later he would have the opportunity to kick the annoying person out of Rongcheng.
Wen Dongyang was also in the living room when He Yu arrived home.
He didn't have to work today, so he went to pick up Huang Shengsheng from kindergarten at five o'clock. He played with the child for a while and recorded a few videos for Huang Zheng, but she hadn't responded yet. The sensitive man, unable to control his wild thoughts in his first love, was now sitting on the sofa, lost in thought.
He Yu ignored him when he called his name. He took off his coat, picked up a soft ocean ball on the ground and threw it over. "What are you thinking about so seriously?"
"Nothing." Wen Dongyang turned his head. "Have you been drinking?"
"Shh!" He Yu made a gesture and looked up at the second floor. "It's just half a cup. Is your nose that sharp?"
"I don't know if I have a dog's nose or not, but you are quite a dog. You just came home a little late, so why do you send more than 20 WeChat messages to others? You are not even married yet and you are already dominated by your wife?" Wen Dongyang was unhappy, and the tone of his reply became increasingly inexplicable.
When he was having dinner with Tao Wanjia, he saw messages from He Yu popping up on the screen one after another. Tao Wanjia was not only not annoyed, but also replied to them one by one with great patience. He was no longer the anxious and fidgety person he used to be, but had become softer.
This was completely different from how Huang Zheng treated him, one could even say it was completely different. He was a little confused and even more suspicious that Huang Zheng had agreed to be with him too hastily.
He Yu keenly sensed the hidden meaning behind Wen Dongyang's words. His expression relaxed, and his words gradually became more provocative. "I'm happy to."
Just as he finished speaking, the phone that Wen Dongyang had been thinking about finally rang.
He slid over to answer it, hurriedly standing up and going to the balcony.
"How was the training? Did everything go well? What did you have for dinner?"
Huang Zheng had just come out of the hotel. It was drizzling in Jingping, and the chill of spring was damp, penetrating deep into her bones.
For her, falling in love is a bit like something from her previous life. When she was a teenager, making boyfriends was like collecting stamps, with a short-lived enthusiasm and no restrictions. In a relationship, she is used to taking the initiative.
But this feeling now is a little difficult to describe. She has long passed the stage of a little girl who needs to share every little thing with her lover, but even though Wen Dongyang is busy with work, he still seems to have ten thousand words to say to her every day.
"Yeah." Huang Zheng frowned tiredly, staring at the rain curtain under the eaves. "Do you have anything else to say? If not, I'll hang up first."
"I..." Wen Dongyang paused and lowered his head.
"No, be careful. I'll pick you up when you come back."
"good."
He Yu listened to Wen Dongyang's bland greeting and understood why he'd been distracted. It seemed the twenty-seven-year-old man's mind wandered because he felt insecure. He stood up and prepared to go upstairs when the man behind him suddenly called out to him.
"He Yu, can you teach me how to fall in love?"
Wen Dongyang looked serious, and his words no longer had the sharpness from before. His tone was so distressed that it sounded like he had failed a final exam as a child and had to seek help from him.
He Yu unbuttoned his shirt cuffs, thought for a moment, and then replied seriously, "This thing can't be taught. I think your talent is really a bit difficult."
He smiled and teased him, their back and forth as childish as two middle school students. Wen Dongyang was speechless. Recalling Huang Zheng's tone on the phone just now, his brows furrowed slightly. "I feel like there's something a little weird about us. But I can't really put my finger on what's wrong."
"Forget it. I can't explain it to you even if I tell you."
He raised his hand to check the time and prepared to leave. He Yu reached out and patted his shoulder.
"Everyone has their own way of getting along with others. I guess you're just too tense."
The second to last student was giving a lecture to the last to last student, and Tao Wanjia smiled at the stairs.
Looking at the edited text on the phone, I clicked send without hesitation.
