Jiang Bai carried the chickens to the edge of the pond. "I'll go and clean these chickens first."
"Wait a minute," Xu Kun called out to him. "You can pack up later. I'll go check if I've caught any fish in my fish basket."
Jiang Bai: "Okay."
After saying that, she picked up the chicken and stood there waiting for him.
Xu Kun threw the two pheasants he was holding onto the ground by the pond, bent down, and stretched out his arm to reach the fish basket beside him.
Fortunately, the pool wasn't big, and the fish basket didn't float far, otherwise he would have had to jump into the water to get it.
Gu Mian: "How was it? Did you catch any fish?"
"Yes." Xu Kun turned the fish basket upside down and shook it vigorously, and five grass carp, each weighing about two pounds, fell to the ground.
“Pah.”
Several grass carp swung their tails and slapped the ground forcefully.
Jiang Bai: "Not bad, but I reckon your fish basket will be ruined after just one use."
"It's alright," Xu Kun said nonchalantly. "As long as we can catch fish, that's fine. I'll make two more and put them in the water tonight."
Jiang Bai was in charge of cleaning the pheasants, and Xu Kun was in charge of cleaning the fish. Both of them tried to stay as far away from the cave as possible, otherwise the smell of blood would be too strong.
As for Gu Mian?
She went into the woods to collect dry branches and leaves.
I made three trips back and forth, and after collecting enough for the evening, I stopped.
The fish needed to be cleaned quickly, so Xu Kun came back first.
"Did you bring any tools to start a fire?" Gu Mian asked him.
"I brought it." Xu Kun gestured with his chin. "It's in my pants pocket. Take it yourself."
Gu Mian looked over and saw that Xu Kun was wearing a pair of loose gray sweatpants.
Just as he was about to reach out, Gu Mian suddenly realized something, rolled her eyes at him, and said, "Take it yourself."
Then he took the fish from his hand.
Seeing that she wasn't fooled, Xu Kun said with a hint of regret, "Alright."
