Day 9 of survival at sea, sunny weather.
At 7 a.m., Gu Mian was cooking lean meat porridge while browsing chat channels to pass the time.
"It's the 9th day, family! I've been adrift at sea for 9 days! I'm all smelly!"
"Who isn't! They're completely soaked in the flavor!"
"Um...no, that's not it! I wipe my body with purified water every three days!"
"Hey! Brother, are you being extravagant? I struggle to even drink water every day, and you're using purified water to wipe your body?"
"Well... I'm a girl! So I'm bound to be a bit cleaner."
"Oh, you're a girl, hehe. Can I have a word with you in private? [flirting]"
"By the way, how big have your rafts gotten?"
"I've expanded to 60 square meters and even built a [sunshade]. I must be the fastest growing one, right?"
"Wow! Brother! I've only expanded to 30 square meters, and I don't have enough supplies at all!"
"Hey bro, can I have one of your sunshades? I'm getting sunburned and my skin is peeling every day!"
Xu Kun: "[Sun umbrella][Beach chair] set on clearance sale! Not 998, not 998, just 50 pieces of wood and 50 nails to take it home!"
Zhu Zhixin: "That swindler! He's selling it for such a high price! Listen to me, everyone, don't buy from him!"
"It's not expensive at all! Lying on a beach chair is much more comfortable than a wooden bed, and the parasol can prevent you from getting heatstroke from the sun. It's worth the price!"
"That's right! Xu Kun, give me a set, I'm practically turning into a lump of coal from this scorching sun!"
Zhu Zhixin: "$%%You bunch of idiots@@*8%***&&"
puff……
Seeing Zhu Zhixin get so angry that he started typing gibberish again, Gu Mian burst out laughing.
Is this what they mean by varying levels of intelligence?
They're already in a survival game, and instead of focusing on improving their chances of survival, they keep making these idiotic comments. It's truly speechless.
[Dear players, the system has detected that players' development speed is too slow and the survival rate is too high in Easy Mode. Therefore, it has been changed to Hard Mode.]
[Survival at Sea (Hard Version): Extreme Heat Wave.]
[Extreme Heat Wave: Daily temperatures continue to rise, reaching a high of 70 degrees Celsius, with a cycle of 10 days.]
[A new bronze supply box has been added; players can use an intermediate fishing rod to fish it out.]
[Good luck, players! Try your best to survive!]
The system announcement ended, and the chat channel instantly descended into chaos.
"What? What? What? A human can survive in 70-degree Celsius heat? Is this damn system trying to kill me outright?"
"Brothers! I have good news! Once the raft is expanded to 100 square meters, we can unlock a lot of buildings. Everyone, hurry up and expand!"
"What? The big shot upstairs has already expanded the raft to 100 square meters?"
...
Gu Mian seemed to be thinking about something; she hadn't noticed this before.
Open the construction panel.
[Two-story house: Required materials: 1200 wood, 800 stone.]
[Gazebo: Required materials: 300 wood, 120 stone.]
[Charcoal: Required materials: Wood *1.]
...
Gu Mian didn't expect to unlock charcoal as well; she'll never have to worry about running out of charcoal for the filter again!
The wooden cabins that the system rewards us for are not currently needed.
Gu Mian quickly drank the cooled meat porridge and then made 10 intermediate fishing rods.
We need to fish up as many bronze chests as possible while the temperature is still relatively low to increase our chances of survival.
The thought of the system saying the temperature would rise to 70 degrees Celsius sent chills down my spine.
Humans cannot survive in temperatures of 70 degrees Celsius for long periods of time, so she wanted to stock up on as many heat-relieving supplies as possible.
At 8:30, the temperature rose to 40 degrees Celsius.
Gu Mian wiped the sweat from her forehead and took a sip of ice-cold Sprite.
"Burp, that feels so good~"
Sprite with ice is especially refreshing, and after drinking it, I felt the heat in my body subside a bit.
After finishing his Sprite, he continued to sit under the parasol and fish for the box.
At nine o'clock, the temperature rose to 45 degrees Celsius.
Gu Mian's clothes were completely soaked with sweat, and she was in a terrible state from the heat.
At 9:30, the temperature rose to 50 degrees Celsius.
Gu Mian was already getting restless; the temperature was too high, making her dizzy and lightheaded.
I only fished up 6 wooden supply crates and 3 bronze supply crates in an hour and a half, that's far too few!
After taking a sip of ice-cold Sprite, Gu Mian gritted her teeth and persevered.
At 10 o'clock, the temperature rose to 55 degrees Celsius.
Gu Mianre's heart raced, and her vision blurred.
Not daring to continue, Gu Mian finished the remaining half can of Sprite in one gulp, then slowly got up and carried the supply box into the wooden house.
Just after moving the last box, Gu Mian suddenly felt dizzy, lost consciousness, and fell to the ground.
After an unknown amount of time, Gu Mian finally woke up with a splitting headache.
Lying on the ground, Gu Mian gave a bitter smile: "Luckily nothing happened. I was too overconfident this time."
Rubbing her throbbing forehead, Gu Mian leaned against the wall and slowly sat up. She took out the ice bucket she had stored away and used it to fan herself weakly.
A cool breeze hit her face, instantly clearing Gu Mian's head.
Although it was in a wooden cabin, avoiding direct sunlight, the temperature inside was still quite high.
In less than half an hour, the entire bucket of ice melted into water, and after being evaporated by the high temperature, only a small portion of water remained.
Feeling much better, Gu Mian got up and started opening the box.
Before opening it, Gu Mian even put her hands together in a prayer-like gesture, hoping to open the ice maker.
Otherwise, at the current rate at which ice is being consumed, she'll probably run out of ice in less than two days.
