The heat pack stopped working as soon as I entered deep sleep, and the temperature from the stove alone was not enough to keep me warm.
Gu Mian huddled on the chair, her body temperature dropping lower and lower until she couldn't stand the cold anymore. She could only squint her eyes and climb onto the bed, rolling into the covers.
