Wringing the water out of her hair, Gu Mian prepared to go into the forest to find a place to change her clothes.
His eyes suddenly turned cold, and he quickly pulled a short knife from his backpack and turned around.
"Hey, it's a misunderstanding, please don't do it."
The man raised his hands, smiled, and spoke quickly while taking a few steps back.
The person who arrived was wearing a faded denim jacket, a pair of cracked glasses, and a harmless smile, but he looked rather disheveled.
Gu Mian gripped the dagger expressionlessly, coldly watching the man retreat step by step.
“I really meant no harm,” the man said with a wry smile. “I just climbed up from below and saw someone standing here, so I came over to say hello.”
The man raised his hands and continued, "My name is Wang Haojie. I'm a casual player. Um... it's a bit dangerous for me to be alone on this island, so I'd like to find another casual player to team up with..."
"So what?" Gu Mian coldly interrupted him, "You think I'm a casual player and want to team up with me?"
The man hesitated for a moment, then said, "Uh...yes, is that alright?"
Gu Mian smiled knowingly. "What if I'm not a casual player?"
The man's pupils twitched slightly. "Huh?"
"Help! Help! There are second-order contaminants!"
“Help!”
Several cries for help suddenly rang out, and the sound of hurried footsteps quickly approached from afar.
Gu Mian remained calm, took a step back, and replaced her short sword with a long whip, aiming it at the direction of the footsteps.
Two women, one tall and one short, arrived, followed closely by a giant frog as tall as a person.
"Croak!"
[Mutant Frog: Tier 2 Pollutant, Health 200, Attack 40, Speed 30, Defense 50.]
Wang Haojie's gaze darkened, and his speech quickened: "Someone is in danger, we need to help..."
Before Wang Haojie could finish speaking, Gu Mian had already taken out her staff from her backpack and aimed it at the frog.
A white halo enveloped the frog, and the next moment the frog transformed into a particle of white light, quickly disappearing into the sunlight.
[Defeat the Tier 2 pollutant to earn 100 points.]
"save……"
The short woman's cries for help were still stuck in her throat when the mutated frog was dealt with, and the expression on her face became somewhat comical for a moment.
"You...you're so amazing!" Wang Haojie leaned closer, his eyes fixed on the staff in Gu Mian's hand.
"What kind of weapon is this? It instantly killed a Tier 2 pollutant!"
"Yes...yes!" The two women slowly approached. "Did you open this from a treasure chest? This is the first time I've ever seen a weapon like this. It feels so much like something out of a video game!"
Gu Mian instantly switched the staff in her hand into a short knife, and gave the group a cold look. "Don't come any closer, or don't blame me if you get hurt."
Seeing the short knife pointed at him again, Wang Haojie's smile froze. "Uh... I really didn't mean any harm. I just wanted to team up with you to run dungeons."
More people mean more strength. Although I'm not as strong as you, I won't hold you back.
Gu Mian raised an eyebrow, neither confirming nor denying.
"What? What? You want to team up to fight monsters?" The short woman's eyes widened, revealing an expectant look.
"Can we come with you? My name is Yu Miao, and this is my sister-in-law, Wu Yan. We are also casual players. Although we are not very strong, we can handle first-tier pollutants without any problem!"
"Since you all want to team up..." Looking at the expectant eyes of the group, Gu Mian chuckled, "Then you can form your own teams, you don't need to drag me into it."
A few people suddenly appeared, claiming to be casual players who meant her no harm and just wanted to team up.
Pshaw, if she actually believed that, she'd be the one with a problem!
Upon hearing the refusal, Yu Miao immediately wore an incredulous expression. "Why don't you want to? Wouldn't it be better to have more teammates?"
You're alone; if you encounter danger, your teammates can help you!
Gu Mian raised her hand and touched her chin. "Hmm... what you said seems to make some sense."
“Right! Right!” Yu Miao nodded repeatedly. “It’s better to team up; that way, your safety will be greatly improved!”
"Although what you said makes a lot of sense, I'd still rather not." Gu Mian gave an awkward yet polite smile.
"To be honest, I don't think much of your skills. Teaming up with you would be a complete waste of time."
"You!" Yu Miao looked insulted and tried to argue, but Wu Yan stopped her.
"Alright, Miaomiao! Since others are unwilling, we can't force them."
After saying that, he looked at Gu Mian and said, "Thank you for saving me just now. I hope we will meet again someday."
Then he pulled Yu Miao down the mountain, heading towards the forest.
Watching the two gradually walk away, Gu Mian resumed her expressionless look and stared at Fang Haojie, frowning in confusion, "Aren't you leaving?"
Surely no one is really that shameless as to refuse to leave after being disliked like that?
"Let's go, let's go." Wang Haojie gave an awkward smile and turned to walk in the direction Yu Miao and Wu Yan had gone.
Gu Mian frowned, but remained silent. She felt that something was strange about this matter.
A strange intuition told her that the three people might know each other.
After the heavy rain, the exposed grass was covered with rainwater, and every step felt like stepping on a sponge soaked with water.
The cold wind on the mountain, carrying scattered raindrops, blew against my face, making it almost impossible to open my eyes.
