Gu Xi opened several bags of fish food with some skepticism and then fed them to the octopus.
Just as she was unpacking the fish food, she saw the octopus reach out its tentacles and sneak over, grabbing the fish food and stuffing it into its mouth.
Its eating movements were so energetic and lively, showing no signs of weakness whatsoever.
After finishing the fish food she offered, the octopus started chirping at her again, clearly indicating that the fish food wasn't enough and it wanted more.
She gave the octopus a few more packets, but after it finished eating them, it went back to its limp state.
[Fishkeeping tip: Your fish's energy needs are not being fully met. We recommend seeking out marine mammals for a higher-level energy source.]
"It seems that fish feed alone is not enough; we must find the marine mammal as soon as possible."
Gu Xi picked up the limp octopus and placed it in a large basket on top of the storage box.
This basket is an octopus's nest; she made it on a whim not long ago.
She thought that every pet needs a place to live, so she bought a big basket, lined it with a soft mat, and made it its bed.
Surprisingly, ever since the nest was made, the octopus really likes to stay inside and cherishes it. It even refuses to eat its favorite fish food in the nest.
Recalling this, Gu Xi looked again at the octopus lying limply in the basket.
It's usually so energetic and playful, but seeing it looking so half-dead makes me feel really bad.
For once, she gently comforted the octopus, "You rest here for now, I'll go catch some sea monsters for you."
"Chirp chirp~"
Hearing its weak reply, Gu Xi patted the octopus's head and left.
Gu Xi returned to her room and pondered her next plan.
Obtaining the Sea Beast Pearl from the sea beast to help the octopus recover is by no means an easy task.
Judging from the sea monsters she encountered, they were quite powerful. The octopus, however, was considered one of the weaker ones.
Even so, it would take her some effort to deal with a sea beast like an octopus, let alone if she encountered a larger, older, and more powerful sea beast.
Even if they join forces with the Shark King, it will still be extremely difficult to kill the sea monster.
Taking a rash action would only put her in a dangerous situation.
However, if they simply wait passively, it's unclear how long it will take for the octopus to recover.
Venturing deeper into the sea would inevitably lead to encounters with even more powerful sea monsters, but the risks would also increase significantly. Right now, her only goal is to restore the octopus; there's no need to take too many risks.
After weighing the pros and cons, Gu Xi decided to adopt a more cautious strategy to avoid putting himself in unnecessary danger.
Tomorrow, she will let the sharks explore the nearby waters so that they can find suitable hunting opportunities in a relatively safe environment.
After the sea dragon was hunted down, the sea seemed to return to its former tranquility. The whole night passed peacefully, and the waves on the sea became gentle.
The sea calendar had quietly reached the 40th day. After completing her daily work as usual, Gu Xi had the sharks pull the boat and swim in the nearby waters.
She herself made full use of this rare period of calm and tranquility to devote herself wholeheartedly to training her mental strength.
However, after swimming in this vast sea for most of the day, she still hadn't encountered a single sea monster.
Gu Xi sensed the calm amidst the turmoil and couldn't help but sigh at the unpredictability of life. Before, there had been constant setbacks, and now, just when she wanted to catch the sea monsters, they had all vanished.
