At 5:55, Gu Xi put away the pickaxe, tied the raft to both sides with rope, and directed the shark to bite the rope.
At 6 a.m., the island slowly rose from the sea level.
Its body still shone with a faint glow until the island was completely out of the water, at which point the glow gradually faded.
"Set off!"
Gu Xi gave the order, and Shark No. 4 and No. 5 instantly transformed into power fish, accelerating forward in the direction Gu Xi directed.
Normally, the wooden rafts drift with the current, but today the bamboo rafts are powered by fish, and their speed is so fast that it seems to create a gust of wind.
On a rainy day, the sun is naturally out, so visibility is low. As the raft gets closer to the island, lines can be vaguely seen on the island, which Gu Xi guesses are trees or rocky hills.
As they approached the island, the fish slowed down, and Gu Xi had them push from behind, eventually managing to push the raft to the edge of the island.
Gu Xi dropped her pickaxe, switched Shark 4 and 5 to crate-pushing mode, and went up to the island alone with her spikes.
The edge of the island is an ordinary beach, but it's not as dry as if it were pulled out of the sea. This is too mysterious for Gu Xi at the moment, so she temporarily abandons thinking about it and continues forward.
After walking for a while, all she could see were rocks and trees, and some soil that looked like potting soil.
Gu Xi squatted down and poked it with her hand.
[Game Hint: Cultivation Soil Found]
Gu Xi didn't rush to pick it up, but instead wandered around the neighborhood.
She looked up, observing the trees. Although she was wearing a raincoat, the rain couldn't stop it from hitting her face. Before long, her face was covered in rainwater.
Gu Xi wiped it off nonchalantly.
More important than the rain was her discovery. The joy of finding something new washed away her disheveled state from the rain.
She couldn't wait to take out the axe.
[Game Hint: Trees can be chopped down with an axe.]
The game didn't tell her what kind of tree it was, but there were several trees whose fruits were too easy to identify.
Gu Xi picked up the axe and began chopping wood with a clang. The moment the axe struck the tree, a progress bar appeared.
Logging: 2%
In the following attempts, the progress bar for logging increased at varying rates. Sometimes it reached 5%, and sometimes only 2%, which she guessed was related to the amount of effort she exerted.
About a minute later, the tree was cut down.
[Bananas 13, Timber 23]
Wow, this tree has so much timber!
Gu Xi was surprised. She originally thought that producing some bananas would be the most she could get, but she didn't expect that there would also be timber. Moreover, banana trees are not trees, so why would there be timber?
But the timber is great! She wanted to expand the raft, but the materials were always insufficient. Now, with these trees, she no longer has to worry about not having enough timber.
After putting away the bananas and timber, Gu Xi continued cutting down trees.
After several attempts, Gu Xi discovered that the timing of felling each tree varied, which was likely related to the size of the trees themselves.
But this doesn't bother her at all, since the bigger the tree, the more time it takes to cut it down, and the more trees it produces.
[Bananas 6, Timber 34, Banana seedlings 2]
Finally, just as I was about to fill one compartment of my backpack with bananas, the banana sapling fell.
Gu Xi stopped cutting down the banana trees, not because she wanted to keep cutting them down, but because the trees weren't producing any saplings!
I glanced at the bananas in my backpack: 98
A backpack with only 10 compartments couldn't withstand such abuse, so Gu Xi came up with a good solution. (This chapter has been read. Please click to continue reading the next chapter!)
