Gu Xi glanced meaningfully at the distance and said, "I understand, they have the desire but not the courage."
Although the Sea Ghost receptionist didn't understand what those words meant, it felt that the distinguished guest had spoken very aptly.
The deep-sea creature that had just arrived was the Fish-Man race, humanity's greatest nemesis. The moment Gu Xi saw it, she couldn't help but sigh; it seemed like enemies were destined to meet again, she just kept running into them everywhere.
The reason why the other side only dared to look is easy to understand: it's just that the fishman is only S-rank!
Perhaps it is precisely because they are weak that they prey on humans, who appear even weaker.
Now, facing a group of SS-level deep-sea creatures, he dared not overstep any boundaries.
Beams of light flickered eerily within the auction hall, like mysterious phosphorescence in the deep sea, illuminating the entire space in a dreamlike manner. In the very center of the auction hall, a circular auction platform slowly rose.
The seashells surrounding the auction stage, radiating a warm luster, began to move slowly.
"It's starting!" the Sea Ghost receptionist announced.
Gu Xi focused her attention below. Then, she heard the Sea Ghost Auctioneer float onto the stage below. It was dressed in a magnificent black robe, the hem of which was embroidered with exquisite patterns from gold coin creatures, which swayed with its movements.
Holding a crystal-clear auction gavel in his hand, he exchanged a few simple polite words under the beam of light.
The first item for auction was carried up by two Sea Ghost servants. It was an ancient sea beast skull, inlaid with several fist-sized luminous pearls, the light emanating from which enveloped the entire auction stage.
"Decorative item," Gu Xi concluded immediately after a glance.
She had never found these kinds of things interesting, but she still noted down the details of the items for future reference.
Several of the items were decorations salvaged from the deep sea, making Gu Xi feel somewhat drowsy.
The Sea Ghost receptionist noticed Gu Xi's uninterested expression and wondered what she might like.
Just then, the voice of the Sea Ghost Auctioneer rang out.
"This mermaid possesses S-level mental strength. Starting bid: 5000 gold coins! Each bid must be at least 100 gold coins higher!"
The auctioneer's voice was calm and magnetic, like a deep-sea current, echoing in the hall and waking Gu Xi.
Gu Xi took a closer look and indeed found it to resemble a legendary creature from Mercury.
She immediately instructed the Sea Ghost receptionist to quote: "5100!"
As soon as she announced her price, all the deep-sea creatures turned their attention to her.
"5200 shells!" came the bid from the merfolk.
Gu Xi frowned slightly.
Ais said, "They are fish-men."
Gu Xi: "Does the other party know that we are the ones who made the offer?"
Ais: "It's only S-class and doesn't know our location."
Soon, new offers appeared.
“5300!” a seashell exclaimed.
Gu Xi's original plan was to buy three suitable sea beasts with 10,000 gold coins, but now she was hesitant about whether to continue bidding for just one.
At that moment, the sound came from the seashell where the fishman was.
"5400!"
The fact that the price was increased so quickly indicated that the other party still had room to maneuver, so Gu Xi immediately decided to give up for the time being and decided to see the final price first.
After two more rounds of price increases, the price is now 5800 gold coins.
At this moment, the fishman was clearly hesitant to raise the price of the shells.
"5900!"
Ultimately, it quoted the latest price.
"5900 coins once! 5900 coins twice!"
The fishman couldn't help but grin behind his mask; he had already spent all his savings and was determined to get this fish.
Just then, another offer came in.
"6000!" This chapter has been read (please click to continue reading the next chapter!).
