"Let's get to work. Stick the glow-in-the-dark beads onto the metal wire, then we'll lower the wire down. This will not only illuminate the way but also help detect traps."
Flamescale stared at the pile of materials, its fish brain starting to malfunction. With a metal wire in its left hand and a bead in its right, it had absolutely no idea where to begin.
"Wow! So many! How long will it take to stick them together?"
Unlike Yan Lin's verbose nature, Ai Si was always a man of action. Without saying a word, he followed Gu Xi and immediately got to work.
Upon hearing Flamescale's words, he continued his work without looking up, replying, "Purr~ It's better to be unable to distinguish directions."
Gu Xi kept her hands busy with her work, and gave a perfunctory reply, "Yes, that makes sense. So let's get to work!"
Seeing that Gu Xi and Ai Si had already strung together a long metal wire while they were talking, Flamescale quickly picked up the materials and started working.
Ais and Flamescale are both high-attribute fish, so this task was a piece of cake for them. Before long, all the materials were exhausted, and finally Gu Xi strung all the metal wires together to make it a specially made light chain.
Gu Xi put one end of the string of lights into her backpack and pulled the other end out. As the light head was pulled out, she also attached a wisp of her spiritual power to the metal wire.
Then, she threw the string of glowing beads out, and a light strip like starlight flew into the distance.
The starlight strip was continuously pulled out of Gu Xi's backpack space and flowed into the distance, making a swishing sound. In a short while, the entire strip of light was pulled out.
Gu Xi held one end of the light and felt the end of the light strip. When she found that the other end was still an empty area, her eyes darkened, and she felt as if a heavy weight had been placed on her heart.
This place is so big!
Logically speaking, if they were still inside the tower, the light strings wouldn't be unable to reach the edge of the wall.
unless……
"Pfft~ It seems we're in a special space." Ais lowered her eyes, trying to probe the end of the light, but still found nothing.
Flamescale crouched on the ground, glancing left at Gu Xi and right at Ai Si. Suddenly, it stood up abruptly, pointed its fish-like finger at the end of the small light chain, and said, "Pfft! Thinking too much is useless. Let's go take a look!"
Gu Xi thought about it for a moment and realized that Yan Lin was right.
Although the small colored light couldn't detect the size of the space, the mental energy attached to the metal wire was fine, which at least indicated that there were no traps ahead.
As long as it's safe ahead, we can just grope our way around in the dark. Besides, there are small colored lights, so it's not like we can't see anything at all.
After weighing the options, Gu Xi made a decisive decision: "Let's go!"
The two fish and one person walked forward, with Gu Xi collecting the small colored lights on the ground into her backpack as she went.
Gu Xi's hands never stopped moving, her eyes fixed on the ground, not missing a single detail.
Since no clues can be found at the edge of space, we can only place our hopes on the ground and see if we can find any other clues.
She took careful steps, her toes gently probing every inch of the ground ahead, afraid of missing any subtle changes.
Suddenly, she felt a strange sensation under her feet, as if she had stepped on a stone slab that was slightly different from the surrounding ground.
The moment her foot touched the stone, the entire stone slab suddenly lit up, emitting a soft and mysterious light.
The sudden light made Gu Xi's heart skip a beat. She stopped in her tracks in astonishment, her body instantly stiffening.
Her heart suddenly raced, as if it were about to burst out of her chest, and a strong premonition surged into her heart.
Is this suddenly lit stone slab a clue to the exit, or a trap luring one deeper? (This chapter has been read. Please click to continue reading the next chapter!)
