Gu Xi nodded slightly and picked up a piece of material she had bought from the ground. "So we'll use this. Hang it on the basket, then light it. The heat from inside the ball will carry us up!"
"Pfft?!" Flame Scale's mouth dropped open in disbelief. "Fire? On this?"
"Pfft..." Ais frowned, clearly doubting the method.
It's normal that they don't believe it since they've never seen it before. They'll be very surprised once the hot air balloon is ready and takes off.
"Alright, alright," Gu Xi waved her hand, "You'll see once I finish making the hot air balloon! You can all come and help too."
She winked mysteriously, then turned and got busy.
Based on her mental image, she tried to piece these things together to resemble what she remembered. Whenever she encountered difficulties, she would contact Lorraine directly.
Not long after, under Lorraine's guidance, she made two hot air balloons, one large and one small.
Flamescale stared wide-eyed at Gu Xi's movements, its tail swaying rapidly involuntarily. It moved closer to Gu Xi and lightly touched the metal rods of the hot air balloons with its fingers, as if afraid that the slightest force would make the magical object disappear.
"Whoosh?! What's going on? How did it even fly?"
Ais stood quietly to the side, her eyes sparkling with curiosity.
"I made two, let's try the smaller one first."
The fish tilted their heads in confusion, and she explained, "These are mysterious star maps and texts, they are all treasures, we can't damage them."
The two fish nodded as if they understood.
The small hot air balloon is only a little over one person tall and looks like an enlarged lantern.
Gu Xi fixed a small basket under the small hot air balloon, with a stone inside to simulate load.
She also installed a makeshift burning device under the basket, which was filled with flammable materials.
Once everything was ready, Gu Xi lit the combustion device.
Flames licked at the burning material, crackling and popping. The air inside the hot air balloon gradually heated up, and the balloon slowly expanded.
Gu Xi stared intently at the hot air balloon, silently rehearsing each step, afraid of making any mistakes.
The small hot air balloon began to sway and slowly lifted off the ground.
One centimeter, two centimeters, five centimeters...
With each inch it rose, Gu Xi's heart tightened, her eyes fixed on it, afraid it would fall at any moment.
Everything around seemed to quiet down, except for the crackling of the flames and the soft whooshing sound of the hot air balloon as it rose through the air.
It rose higher and higher until it was suspended in mid-air.
Gu Xi's face lit up with joy.
It was a success!
Gu Xi carefully observed the hot air balloon's flight path and discovered that as long as it didn't hit the heart, the star charts and text could pass through without causing any obstruction to the hot air balloon.
Flame Scales tumbled excitedly in the air, letting out joyful cries.
"Whoosh! It's flying! It really's flying!"
A hint of surprise flashed in Ais's eyes. It hadn't expected that it could actually fly without using mental power.
Gu Xi understood immediately, and a bright smile appeared on her face.
The successful small hot air balloon test proves that there should be no problem with large hot air balloons as well.
She extinguished the small hot air balloon's fuel supply and let it descend slowly. (This chapter has been read. Please click to continue reading the next chapter!)
