The businessman paused for a moment, took the water glass, and scratched his head sheepishly, saying, "Th-thank you."
Gu Xi looked at the harmonious scene before her, a slight smile playing on her lips. She coughed softly, drawing everyone's attention.
“Everyone,” Gu Xi began, his voice calm yet firm, “I have other matters to attend to, so I’ll be leaving now. If you need any assistance with the arrangements or other aspects, you can contact Luman.”
Her gaze swept over everyone present, finally settling on the octopus.
The octopus immediately straightened up, its tentacles swaying gently, emitting a cheerful "chirp" sound (I'll take care of them!).
Gu Xi nodded, turned around and left the exhibition hall.
With her departure, the tension in the air seemed to lessen.
The merchants breathed a sigh of relief, and some even chuckled.
"To be honest, I was a little nervous just now," one businessman confessed, "but I feel much better now."
“Yes,” another chimed in, “especially with this little guy around.” He pointed to the octopus that was busy tidying up the display stand.
When the octopus heard someone mention it, it immediately chirped excitedly and its tentacles danced joyfully.
It rolled up a small box with its tentacles, gently placed it on the display stand, and then tilted its head, seemingly waiting for everyone's praise.
"Haha, what a cute little thing," someone laughed, reaching out to gently pat the octopus's head.
The octopus squinted its eyes and made a satisfied "cheep" sound.
The octopus's friendliness and diligence won the favor of the merchants, and before long the atmosphere in the exhibition hall became more and more relaxed.
Merchants began to gather and chat, discussing their goods and market conditions. Octopus, meanwhile, busied himself helping everyone move goods and organize their booths.
Occasionally, it would stop and curiously examine the unusual goods brought by the merchants, its round eyes filled with wonder.
Sometimes it will accidentally bump into something, and immediately retract its tentacles, chirping cautiously as if apologizing.
The merchants all thought the octopus was incredibly well-behaved; how could they have previously thought it was a strange sea monster!
At this moment, the fear had vanished, replaced by an almost indulgent affection.
“I never expected this,” the businessman who had fled earlier whispered to his companion, “that I was terrified at first, but now I find it incredibly cute.”
“Yes,” his companion replied with a laugh, “it seems we really shouldn’t judge a book by its cover. This little guy may look a bit strange, but his personality is more endearing than many humans.”
The octopus seemed to understand their conversation, chirping happily and gently patting the ground with its tentacles.
Gu Xi, on the third floor of the main building, felt a surge of warmth as she sensed the octopus's excited expression.
When she first saw these businessmen, she was actually a little disappointed.
She hadn't expected these merchants to be so nervous about harmless sea creatures. How would they deal with the bizarre and varied deep-sea creatures?
If these merchants cannot overcome their fear and panic towards other creatures, they will not only be unable to communicate with the deep-sea race, but their loss of composure may also cause unnecessary trouble, affecting the relationship between humans and the deep-sea race, and also impacting the grand plan to unite against the skeleton race.
It seems she'll have to add some more "spice" to these businessmen's story. (This chapter is now complete. Please click to continue reading the next chapter!)
