Chapter 405 Virus Research Institute (2) (3/3)

After reading the contents, she frowned.

Ais's gaze was drawn to another metal plate.

It depicted an anatomical diagram of a type of fish. Although the lines were rough, its unique skeletal structure and the diagram illustrating the flow of spiritual energy pointed to—the Ice Shield Fish!

Next to the drawings were some written records. Although the language was different, several recurring symbols and annotations related to the anatomical diagram of the Ice Shield Fish vaguely pointed to certain characteristics: "energy isolation", "mental stability" and "adaptation to extreme environments".

"Pfft..." Ais's eyes deepened, and the surrounding air seemed to cool down.

He never expected to see research records about his race in such a place, and it seemed that the purpose of the research was not so simple.

Gu Xi noticed Ai Si's reaction and patted the inside of the puck to signal him to calm down. Then, her gaze fell on another pile of even more tattered scoreboards.

These record boards appeared to have suffered more severe damage, but the remaining information was even more astonishing.

The word, or rather a code name, mentioned above has been repeatedly used.

She happened to know this word; it was always associated with symbols describing "high risk," "unstable," and "sources of pollution."

Based on the chaotic mental energy he had sensed outside, Gu Xi had a bold guess in his mind.

“Tahr’s spiritual power…” she murmured the name.

These records seem to indicate that this research institute is not only studying ice shield fish, but also trying to study and even utilize Tar's psychic power!

Some of the Ice Shield Fish's characteristics may have been used in an attempt to control or isolate this extremely dangerous mental energy.

This is consistent with the information they had previously received.

"Pfft?! Tar's psychic power? Could it be that those stitched-together monsters also possessed this ability? But it didn't feel like the complete version of Tar's psychic power." Flame Scale also came over to take a look, and after seeing it, his fish face turned black. "They actually dared to research this? Are they courting death?"

Just then, a screen flickered a few times before settling down and displaying a looping video.

The image is blurry and appears to be surveillance footage, recording a scene that once occurred inside the laboratory.

In the scene, several figures wearing protective suits resembling those made of ice shield fish are operating a huge container. Inside the container, something seems to be imprisoned, emitting unsettling energy fluctuations.

Suddenly, the container shook violently, cracks spread, and an indescribable, chaotic energy that seemed capable of devouring everything erupted! The screen shook violently, screams rang out, and then everything went dark.

Although the footage was short, the chaotic energy that erupted was highly consistent with the mental pollution they encountered outside and the characteristics of Tal's mental energy!

"It seems a serious accident occurred here," Gu Xi said in a deep voice. "The research on Tar's mental power went out of control, contaminating the entire research institute and even modifying the organisms here. This caused many of them to become unwanted."

Ais looked at the research records about the Ice Shield Fish, then at the out-of-control energy on the screen, her eyes cold.

His race appears to have been drawn into this insane and dangerous research.

"Then...should we continue deeper?" Flamescale hesitated. "It feels like it will be even more dangerous ahead."

Gu Xi looked deeper into the ruins, where the energy fluctuations were stronger and more chaotic, but also seemed to hide more secrets.

“Since we’re already here, we should at least find out what happened here.” She paused, then added, “And maybe we can find something… useful.”

She recalled the long list of materials needed for the island's construction.

Just as they were about to move on, a barely perceptible green shadow silently slid past behind the hockey puck and disappeared into a dark corner.

The vines of the cowgrass swayed gently, its "gaze" seemingly focused on Ais, carrying a complex and unfathomable emotion. It had been here all along, watching everything they discovered. (This chapter has been read. Please click to continue reading the next chapter!)
