Chapter 406 Virus Research Institute (3) (3/3)

“The core of this research institute is not just the out-of-control Tar spiritual power.” Niu Niu Cao’s voice was tinged with solemnity. “It has also fused with something else—a fragment of the ‘Seed of Life.’ It is a wondrous object left over from the Tar era, capable of purifying and nurturing the origin of life. The deep-sea race of the research institute tried to use it to neutralize the pollution of Tar spiritual power, but the result was an even more terrifying fusion and loss of control.”

"A fragment of the Seed of Life?" Gu Xi's heart stirred; the name itself sounded extraordinary.

“My goal is that fragment,” Niu Niu Cao confessed. “It is of vital importance to me and to my clan. But with my strength alone, I cannot safely extract the fragment while suppressing Tar’s mental power. So I need you, I need the power of Ice Shield Fish to temporarily suppress Tar’s mental power, and I need your mental power to precisely separate the fragment.”

It looked at Gu Xi.

"Pfft! You're using us!" Flame Scale wagged its tail angrily. "Who knows if you're telling the truth or not! Maybe you're trying to keep some treasure for yourself!"

"Believe it or not," Niu Niu Cao said wearily, "but if we don't cooperate now, and the seal completely collapses and Tar's spiritual power fully erupts, none of us will be able to leave! This sea area, and even further afield, will become a dead zone!"

The black crystal container vibrated more and more violently, and the vines of the cow grass began to show signs of charring, clearly indicating that its suppression was nearing its limit.

Ais looked at the cracked ice blocks of her kind that exuded a painful aura, then at the raging Tal mental core in the center, and finally turned her gaze to Gu Xi.

His eyes were cold, but the determination within them was unquestionable.

Whatever Niu Niu Cao's purpose was, he could not allow the remains and power of these kin to be completely devoured by Tar's spiritual power.

Gu Xi quickly weighed the pros and cons.

While Niu Niu Cao's words may not be entirely true, the current crisis is very real.

Moreover, the name "Fragment of the Seed of Life" made her vaguely feel that it might be related to the island's development, or even some of the world's core secrets.

“Alright, we’ll cooperate for now.” Gu Xi made the decision. “Ais will be in charge of the suppression, and I’ll try to separate them. Flame Scale, you’re in charge of guarding our flanks!”

"Pfft! Got it!" Flame Scale was still sulking, but he understood that now was not the time for infighting.

"Puff."

Ais nodded, took a deep breath, and the icy blue light surged from his body once again.

This time, instead of trying to reinforce the outer ice, he focused his mental energy directly, directing it towards the central black crystal container, attempting to suppress the eruption of Tar's mental energy from its source.

As Niu Niu Cao sensed the addition of Ai Si's power, the pressure on it decreased dramatically, and the green light on its vines shone again.

"The core is located slightly below the center of the container, enveloped by Tar's mental energy. It's very unstable, so be careful!" it warned Gu Xi.

Gu Xi's gaze was focused, and his immense mental power instantly emanated from the ice sphere, condensing into countless fine, almost invisible mental tentacles, cautiously probing into the raging, chaotic black energy storm.
