Chapter 408 Virus Research Institute (5) (1/2)

The cowgrass paused for a moment, its vines gently brushing against the ice blocks.

“Their sacrifice was not in vain.” It paused, then looked at Ais. “Perhaps, this is also a kind of relief.”

With the core issue resolved, the chaotic mental pollution in the hall began to dissipate rapidly. The modified creatures that had been attracted lost their purpose and became confused, and were eventually dealt with one by one by the arriving Flame Scales.

"Pfft! I'm exhausted!" Yan Lin plopped down on the ground, panting heavily, but her eyes gleamed as she looked at the fragment of the Seed of Life in Gu Xi's hand. "This thing is the fragment of the Seed of Life? It looks so powerful!"

Gu Xi held the fragment in her palm and examined it carefully.

The fragments feel warm and smooth to the touch, brimming with an indescribable vitality. Just looking at them makes one feel much of their mental fatigue washed away.

“It’s definitely a good product.” She nodded.

Niu Niu Cao withdrew the dark green light cocoon that had been enveloping Tal's spiritual power. The light cocoon rapidly shrank, eventually becoming a bead the size of a thumb, resembling obsidian, which it then stored away.

"This is a purified crystallization of Tar's spiritual power; it might be useful in the future," it explained, then looked at Gu Xi. "As agreed, the fragment of the Seed of Life belongs to me."

Gu Xi didn't agree immediately, but asked instead, "What do you want to use it for?"

Niu Niu Grass hesitated for a moment, then finally said, "My clan, the Nether Abyss Algae Beasts, were once one of the guardians of this deep sea, responsible for purifying and balancing the ocean's energy. But in a catastrophe long ago, our life essence was severely damaged, and our clan withered away. The life energy contained in this fragment may help us regain some of our strength." Its tone was tinged with a sense of vicissitude and anticipation.

Gu Xi looked at the cow grass, then at the fragment in her hand.

The power of this fragment is truly astonishing; if used to build an island, it would likely be more effective than any other material on the list.

But Niu Niu Cao's reasons, and its reckless absorption of Tar's spiritual power, led her to make a final decision.

"Okay." Gu Xi handed the fragment to Niu Niu Cao. "I hope it can help you."

The vines of the cowgrass paused noticeably, seemingly surprised that Gu Xi would agree so readily.

It took the fragment, and the tender bud at the tip of the vine gently brushed against Gu Xi's fingers, as if expressing its gratitude.

“Thank you,” it whispered. “In return, some of the things that remain in this research institute might be of use to you.”

As it spoke, it pointed its vines in several directions in the hall.

"Over there, that should be the materials warehouse. There should still be remnants of many of the special materials used in the research back then. Over there is the results storage center. Although most of it is destroyed, we might be able to find some useful information about the Tar era, or about... the Ice Shield Fish." It glanced at Ais deliberately.

Gu Xi's eyes lit up. "Thank you for letting me know."

"Whoosh! Great! We can start looting... no, collecting materials!" Flame Scale immediately perked up.

Ais also looked in the direction of the data storage center, her eyes flickering slightly.

“I’m leaving.” Niu Niu Cao carefully put away the fragments of the Seed of Life and the black bead. “I need to return to my clan’s territory as soon as possible. Gu Xi, Ai Si, Yan Lin… thank you for this. See you at the Joint Conference.”

After saying that, its figure transformed into a green light once more, quickly merging into the darkness above and disappearing from sight.

"Pfft... It just left like that?" Flame Scale was still a little taken aback.

"Good riddance, saves me from worrying about it causing trouble." Gu Xi breathed a sigh of relief, then clapped his hands. "Alright, stop standing around, let's get to work! Our goal is—to empty this place!"

The three of them then began a thorough cleaning.
