These words were met with silence, an even more profound silence than when Ais had presented the Frankenstein monster, instantly enveloping the entire venue.
To break away from the deep-sea human race?
What does this mean? Isn't he Gu Xi's right-hand man? Isn't he the most powerful being among the deep-sea humans? Why would he make such a decision at this time?
Gu Xi stood behind Ai Si, her body visibly stiffening for a moment. Her face remained calm, her eyes deep and complex, but a fleeting, elusive pain and confusion flickered in the depths of her gaze. She didn't speak, nor did she try to stop Ai Si.
Ais is probably worried that the previous Frankenstein incident will implicate her.
However, as the fishmonger and the person who raises them, is she really that unreliable?
Ais didn't look at Gu Xi; his gaze swept over the deep-sea creatures and sea beasts present.
"The Deep Sea Human Race has its own path to follow. They are a newly born race and need to establish their own order and future." Aiss's voice was as calm as if she were narrating something that had nothing to do with her.
"As for me, as an SSS-class sea monster, I have my own mission and direction. I need to roam the vast ocean, explore those unknown places, and pursue my own answers."
His reasoning sounded reasonable; SSS-class life forms inherently possess extremely high independence and a strong desire for exploration.
But choosing this moment, when the Deep Sea Human Race had just gained a foothold, made its mark at the United Conference, and just reached the abolition agreement, to announce it seemed abrupt and resolute no matter how you looked at it.
The giant sea turtle uttered a deep question: "Ais, are you sure? You are the strongest force among the deep-sea human race."
Ais shook her head slightly: "Power is not the only connection. My existence may be a limitation for them in some way. Besides, I have only ever been accompanied by Gu Xi."
He turned towards Gu Xi, and although he didn't look at her directly, he seemed to be able to sense her presence.
“Gu Xi, thank you.” Ai Si’s voice was flat, as if she were simply stating a fact. “You unsealed me and showed me a different world. Now, it’s time for me to see it for myself.”
Gu Xi finally let out a soft sigh, the sound so faint it was almost drowned out by the still-lingering buzz of shock in the hall.
Her gaze fell on Ais's retreating figure, a complex mix of emotions churning beneath her icy exterior.
"Have you made up your mind?" Gu Xi's voice was calm, revealing no emotion. She was trying her best to suppress the turmoil within her.
Ais nodded.
Gu Xi was silent for a few seconds, then slowly spoke, her voice soft but full of strength and an indescribable trust and letting go: "Go, Ai Si. The sea is vast, go find your own path."
She did not try to stop her, did not question her, and did not show any weakness or dependence.
She chose to respect Ais's decision, even though it was undoubtedly a huge loss for her.
But she believed that one day they would meet again.
With Gu Xi's permission, Ai Si said nothing more. He nodded slightly to the SSS-level beings present, then turned and walked calmly toward the entrance of the venue.
