Chapter 39 Night Meeting with Wu Na

Chapter 39 Night Meeting with Wu Na

"Luo Qing, Qi Ru, let's hurry up and go. I'm exhausted from the journey here," Mu Xuan said in a thick accent.

Luo Qing suppressed a laugh and nodded, "No problem, Brother Yang, let's go."

The waiter, who had been waiting for a long time, gestured for them to come this way and led the three to the guest courtyard.

Inside the guesthouse, rows of exquisite guest rooms are arranged in a well-organized manner.

The waiter led Mu Xuan, Luo Qing, and Hai Ru to two guest rooms, gently pushing open the doors to reveal a warm and elegant interior.

Luo Qing and Hai Ru exchanged a smile and followed the waiter into the room on the left.

The room was decorated simply yet stylishly, with soft beds, exquisite furniture, and lush greenery outside the window, making them feel right at home.

Mu Xuan walked alone into the guest room on the right. He looked around, walked to the window, opened it, and looked at the seaweed swaying with the waves. He couldn't help but close his eyes and sigh deeply.

After the waiter left, Luo Qing, accompanied by Qi Ru, knocked on Mu Xuan's door. "What do you think that man in black said today?"

Mu Xuan leaned against the windowsill without turning around. "They discovered I was missing."

Recalling Wu Na's reaction, Luo Qing nodded and continued, "And I think she's already discovered us."

"She will definitely come looking for you by tonight at the latest. What are you going to do?" Luo Qing asked him.

Mu Xuan lowered his head and remained silent.

His fingers unconsciously traced the windowsill, as if searching for some kind of answer.

The seaweed outside the window swayed in the moonlight. Luo Qing and Qi Ru stood behind him, patiently waiting for his response.

"Don't worry, I won't soften my heart," he finally replied, his hands clenched tightly.

Moonlight streamed through the window, casting a soft glow on Mu Xuan's face and softening his resolute features, while also illuminating his tearful eyes.

Luo Qing and Qi Ru exchanged a glance and saw the worry in each other's eyes, but they chose to remain silent, giving him space to be alone.

In the room, Mu Xuan's figure appeared lonely yet resolute under the moonlight.

He took a deep breath, as if gathering his inner strength. He loosened his grip, turned to face Luo Qing and Qi Ru, his eyes gleaming with determination.

“I know it’s cruel, but it’s the choice I have to make,” he said softly, his voice revealing both helplessness and determination.

Luo Qing and Qi Ru nodded silently. They understood his decision and supported his choice.

On this day filled with unknowns and dangers, they stood together with Mu Xuan, facing the impending storm together.

The players had traveled all day to get here, and everyone was exhausted.

Not long after dinner, the players all went to bed.

Mu Xuan remained seated by the window, seemingly engrossed in something. So Luo Qing and Qi Ru simply slept in Mu Xuan's room.

As night deepened, a series of light footsteps sounded, followed by a knock on the guest room door.

Luo Qing and Qi Ru opened their eyes instantly. She glanced at Mu Xuan, drew the bed curtains, and remained motionless on the bed.

"Knock, knock, knock." The knocking sounded again, this time without waiting for a response from the person inside.

"Creak—." The door was pushed open. A tall figure stood in the doorway; it was Wu Na.

Wu Na stood at the doorway, moonlight streaming through the window and falling on her, adding a touch of mystery to her figure.

Her gaze swept around the room before finally settling on Mu Xuan by the window.

Mu Xuan didn't turn around, but he could feel that familiar gaze. He took a deep breath, trying his best to remain calm.

Wu Na walked slowly towards him and stopped behind him. She didn't speak, but stood quietly, as if waiting for something.

Mu Xuan felt her presence was like an invisible pressure, making it almost impossible for him to breathe. But he still endured it and did not turn around.

The room fell into a deathly silence, with only the seaweed outside the window swaying gently in the moonlight, making a faint sound.

"Ah Xuan." In the end, Wu Na spoke first.

Her voice was exceptionally clear in the quiet night, with a slight, almost imperceptible tremor.

Mu Xuan's body stiffened slightly, but he still didn't turn around. He could feel Wu Na's presence right behind him, so close, yet so far.

"I'm sorry," Wu Na said, her voice tinged with pain. "I..."

Her words suddenly stopped, as if something had blocked them. Mu Xuan could sense the fluctuation in her emotions, but he still chose to remain silent.

Wu Na took a deep breath, seemingly trying to calm herself down.

"Don't do this, turn around and look at me, okay?" She slowly reached out her hand, wanting to touch Mu Xuan's back, but stopped at the last moment.

Mu Xuan finally turned around. His eyes were cold and his expressionless face as he spoke, "I have a few questions for you. You just need to answer yes or no."

He paused, then said, "Don't lie to me, this is your last chance."

Wu Na nodded frantically, "Ah Xuan, ask away, I will answer truthfully."

For the first question, Mu Xuan held up a finger as white as jade, "Did you initiate this marriage alliance?"

Wu Na nodded, "Amu, I really like you. I know I was wrong..."

Mu Xuan ignored her and only extended his second finger, "The second question is, did you know my identity when we first met?"

Wu Na hesitated for a moment, "I... I knew your identity back then." She avoided looking at Mu Xuan.

Luo Qing, hiding on the bed through the thin bed curtains, saw everything. Her eyes widened slightly; she never expected that the story would begin with a deception.

Mu Xuan gave a sarcastic laugh and held up a third finger. "The third question, you..."

Mu Xuan gave a sarcastic laugh and held up a third finger. "Third question: Is your purpose in marrying me to become the Sea God in my place?"

Wu Na's face turned pale instantly, and she could no longer maintain her composure. Her lips trembled as she tried to explain, but she found her words utterly powerless.

She looked into Mu Xuan's eyes, those once gentle eyes now cold as ice. She knew she had nowhere to escape and could only face this cruel reality.

"Yes," she finally admitted in a low voice, "I admit, I did marry you to become the sea goddess. But I never intended to hurt you, I just..."

Before she could finish speaking, Mu Xuan interrupted her, "You're just using me!" His voice was cold and resolute.

"One last question: From beginning to end, were your feelings for me even a little bit genuine?"

Wu Na's body trembled even more violently. She looked up at Mu Xuan, tears welling in her eyes. Her lips moved, but it was as if something was blocking them, and she couldn't make a sound.

Moonlight streamed through the window, casting a poignant glow on her face and adding a touch of melancholy to her pale, pained expression. She bit her lower lip tightly, trying to hold back the tears that were about to spill.

Mu Xuan looked at her quietly, his eyes devoid of any emotion. He seemed prepared to accept any answer, whether true or false, it no longer mattered.

Wu Na finally spoke, her voice trembling and weak: "Yes."

She admitted it without hesitation, as if it were the only truth in her heart.

Luo Qing saw Mu Xuan waving to them, so she went out with Qi Ru.

She saw Mu Xuan lean close to Wu Na's neck and say gently, "Since you truly loved me, then—"
