Chapter 37 Mu Xuan Wants Revenge
The faint sound of chains clanging could be heard in the distance. Luo Qing took out two luminous pearls that she had taken from the Haiyuan Palace and handed one to Qi Ru.
They clutched the luminous pearl tightly, its faint light swaying in the dark depths of the sea like two lonely stars in the night sky.
Luo Qing and Qi Ru walked slowly forward in the darkness, the faint light of the luminous pearl illuminating the surrounding seabed scenery.
The seawater was flowing exceptionally fast, as if some enormous force was propelling them.
In the distance, the clanging of chains could be heard intermittently, adding to the mystery and eeriness of the deep seabed.
Luo Qing gripped the Silver Dragon Spear tightly in her hand, vigilantly observing her surroundings.
Suddenly, she sensed something was wrong with the sand in front of her; it seemed as if something hard was hidden underneath.
She lowered her head and carefully illuminated the sand with the luminous pearl, where she could see a faint metallic luster.
Luo Qing squatted down and gently brushed away the sand with her hands, revealing a huge iron ring.
Luo Qing and Qi Ru huddled together, observing the enormous iron ring by the dim light of the luminous pearl.
The iron rings were covered with traces of seawater, giving them an ancient and mysterious appearance. The clanging sound of the chains was coming from below.
Luo Qing tried to pull the iron ring, but found it to be unusually heavy, as if it were connected to the power of the entire deep sea abyss.
She looked at Qi Ru, a determined glint in her eyes, "We have to work together to open it."
Qi Ru nodded, and the two of them gripped the iron ring tightly, pulling it backward with all their might.
The iron ring moved slowly, emitting a dull thud, as if telling a secret from a thousand years ago. As the ring moved, the seawater began to surge, forming a huge whirlpool.
Suddenly, the iron ring made a loud noise, completely opening a passage.
Luo Qing and Qi Ru exchanged a smile, then leaped into the vortex and disappeared.
They were swept up by a powerful suction force, as if they were traveling through a time tunnel.
The surrounding seawater spun rapidly, forming colorful whirlpools.
Luo Qing held Qi Ru's hand tightly, their eyes meeting in the air, filled with determination and courage.
Suddenly, their eyes lit up and they found themselves in a huge cave.
The cave's ceiling and walls are composed of pure white stalactites, radiating a soft glow.
In the center of the cave, a figure was tightly bound by thick iron chains, as if imprisoned in endless darkness. The man was tall and handsome, but at this moment he appeared somewhat tired and powerless. His eyes revealed a trace of resentment and despair, as if he were fighting against fate.
Luo Qing and Qi Ru approached cautiously. They could feel the powerful aura emanating from the man and the ancient magic permeating the chains.
The air inside the cave seemed to freeze. Luo Qing and Qi Ru stood in front of the man, a strange emotion welling up in their hearts.
They could sense the sadness and helplessness in him, as if he were a victim of fate.
The man struggled to stand up, but the chains were too tight, and he could only lean helplessly against the cave wall.
His gaze darted back and forth between Luo Qing and Qi Ru, as if searching for something.
Suddenly, a glint flashed in his eyes. He stared intently at the silver dragon spear in Luo Qing's hand and asked in a hoarse voice, "You...you are..."
Luo Qing's heart stirred; she seemed to understand something and said softly, "Are you the Sea God Mu Xuan?"
Upon hearing Luo Qing's words, the man gave a bitter laugh and nodded. "That's right, I am Mu Xuan, but I am no longer the Sea God."
His voice was filled with helplessness and vicissitudes, as if he had experienced countless hardships and storms.
Luo Qing and Qi Ru exchanged a glance, and a sense of respect welled up in their hearts.
They knew that the man before them had once been the ruler of the entire ocean, possessing boundless power and majesty. But now, he was trapped in this dark cave, cruelly tormented by fate.
"Hello, I am player Luo Qing, and she is Hai Ru from the Merfolk race," Luo Qing said first.
"We've come to see you because since Wuna ascended the throne..."
Luo Qing recounted to Mu Xuan how Hai Yuan, the Great Elder of the Merfolk, collaborated with dark forces to murder the Merfolk royal family and establish himself as king, and how Hai Na, after succeeding to the position of Sea Goddess, restored the curse on the Merfolk.
Mu Xuan understood. "So you came to me wanting my help?"
Luo Qing nodded, looking at Mu Xuan with a firm gaze. "Yes, we need your help. Only you can lead us to fight against those dark forces and restore peace and tranquility to the ocean."
Mu Xuan gave a self-deprecating laugh and shook his head. "Luo Qing, you overestimate me. Right now, I'm just a prisoner abandoned by fate. What strength do I have left to fight against those dark forces?"
His eyes revealed a deep despair, as if he had lost faith in everything.
Luo Qing and Qi Ru exchanged a glance, knowing that Mu Xuan's words were not entirely sincere.
They could sense that deep within him still a struggling, indomitable force was being worn away, but it had been bound by chains and the shackles of fate for too long.
Mu Xuan asked them, "Do you know why I'm locked up here?"
Luo Qing nodded and showed him the piece of cloth. "You wanted to overthrow the system's rule, but you were suppressed by the system and imprisoned here."
Mu Xuan burst into maniacal laughter, the sound echoing through the cave and filling the entire space with awe.
His laughter was filled with endless mockery and sorrow, as if he were laughing at the injustice of fate, or perhaps he was grieving for his own fate.
"So that's what the system said?"
He wiped away the tears of laughter and said softly to Luo Qing and the other person, "Let me tell you a story."
"The sea gods of all generations have a tradition of intermarrying with the witch clan. When I became a candidate for sea god, I was still very young and headstrong, and unwilling to marry a stranger."
“My parents kept pressuring me, and I couldn’t take it anymore, so I ran away. During my escape, I met a lovely girl who was also running away from an arranged marriage.”
Mu Xuan's voice softened, his eyes filled with happiness and nostalgia.
"So we got together, and we fell in love during that time. So I took her home and told my parents that I wanted to marry her."
“My mother was beaming with joy and told me that she was my fiancée. I was so happy at that moment, and I felt that we were a match made in heaven.”
“We have been very happy after marriage. She doesn’t want to have a baby, but that doesn’t matter. I can adopt one.”
“Until my parents passed away, I was devastated. That night, she brewed me some calming tea. After drinking it, I fell into a coma. When I woke up, I was already here.”
His eyes were red and his voice trembled, "So, so she married me just to replace me as the sea god?"
Tears welled up in his eyes and streamed down his face. He wiped his face hard, took several deep breaths, and gritted his teeth to calm himself down.
After a while, Mu Xuan, having calmed down, looked at Luo Qing and Qi Ru, who were looking at him with concern, and said, "Don't worry, I will help you."
Luo Qing looked at the heavy iron chains binding him and asked, "Do you have any ideas?"
Mu Xuan suddenly stood up, causing the huge iron chains to tremble and make a dull sound.
His figure appeared even taller and more imposing in the soft light emanating from the stalactites. Although his face was haggard, the light in his eyes was as bright as the stars.
He stretched out his hands and gripped the two iron chains tightly, as if he were fighting against fate.
His muscles were tense, veins bulging, as he pulled on the iron chain with all his might.
The chains began to rattle deafeningly, as if they were about to be torn apart by the force.
The next second, the chains snapped, releasing tremendous force that made the entire cave tremble.
Mu Xuan's figure appeared amidst the broken iron chains; he stood firm like a majestic mountain.
His eyes gleamed with unwavering determination, as if he were ready to face any challenge.
Luo Qing and Qi Ru stood frozen in place, unable to believe their eyes.
Mu Xuan really did it; he broke free of the shackles that bound him and regained his freedom.
