Chapter 32 The Curse of the Sea God
"Quick, find a safe place!" Luo Qing said decisively, a hint of panic flashing in her eyes, but more so with determination and resolve.
They quickly searched for a relatively flat and secluded underwater cave.
Mo Ming quickly carried Fang Tai into the cave, while Qi Ru and Mu Qimeng stayed at the cave entrance to keep watch.
The cave was dark and damp, but it was better than being exposed to the dangers of the ocean floor.
Mo Ming quickly checked Fang Tai's condition; his brows furrowed, and a hint of anxiety flashed in his eyes.
"How is the situation?" Luo Qing asked anxiously, her voice filled with undisguised worry.
“No external injuries.” Mo Ming frowned, his fingers gently gliding over Fang Tai’s pulse, feeling the weak and erratic heartbeat. His gaze shifted to Luo Qing, his eyes filled with deep worry.
"How could this happen?" Luo Qing asked in surprise. "Is there anything he eats or is allergic to?"
Mo Ming shook his head, his worry deepening. He stared intently at Fang Tai's pale, bloodless face, his unease surging like a tide.
He gently stroked Fang Tai's forehead, trying to sense a trace of life in that cold skin.
"His pulse is weak and beating very irregularly." Mo Ming's voice was low and heavy, as if carrying a heavy burden.
“I have never encountered a situation like this before. His body seems to be undergoing some kind of unknown change, but I cannot determine the reason.”
Luo Qing's face also turned pale. She bit her lower lip tightly, trying to suppress the panic in her heart. She looked at the dark sea outside the cave, and the unease in her heart surged like waves.
Suddenly, Qi Ru's shout came from outside the cave, followed by the sound of a heavy object falling to the ground.
The two immediately rushed to the cave entrance, only to find Mu Qimeng lying on the ground, unconscious. Her face was as pale as paper, and her breathing was so weak it was almost imperceptible.
Luo Qing crouched down and nervously examined Mu Qimeng's body. Her fingers lightly glided over Mu Qimeng's pulse, then she stopped abruptly, a hint of fear flashing in her eyes.
"Her pulse is weakening too!" Luo Qing's voice was filled with undisguised panic. She looked up at Mo Ming, "We have to find the cause quickly, or we'll all be in danger!"
Qi Ru suddenly ripped open Mu Qimeng's clothes, revealing a black pattern on his chest.
Qi Ru's action stunned everyone. In the dim cave, the black pattern stood out conspicuously, as if it had grown out of Mu Qimeng's skin, exuding an eerie aura.
The patterns are intricate and bizarre, seemingly some kind of ancient rune or an unknown mark.
Luo Qing couldn't help but move closer; her heart was racing, and her eyes were filled with surprise and doubt.
She reached out and gently touched the black pattern with her fingertips, feeling a chill as if she had touched the source of Mu Qimeng's life.
Suddenly, the pattern moved. It seemed to come alive, slowly wriggling on Mu Qimeng's chest, like a snake hidden in the darkness.
Luo Qing exclaimed in surprise and quickly withdrew her hand.
Mo Ming quickly returned to the cave and pulled off Fang Tai's shirt. Sure enough, he also found the wriggling black pattern on Fang Tai's body.
Mo Ming took a deep breath, his hands trembling, and slowly lifted his shirt.
In the dim cave, the glaring black pattern gradually emerged, like a dark mark slowly appearing on his skin.
The moment the pattern appeared, it seemed to come alive, wriggling on his chest like a monster being awakened from its slumber.
Luo Qing and Qi Ru were both dumbfounded; they had never seen anything so bizarre.
Mo Ming felt a cold sensation coming from his chest, as if something was sucking away his life force.
His body began to tremble, and his face turned as pale as paper, but he still stood firmly and did not fall.
"It's a curse!" Luo Qing's voice echoed in the cave, filled with undisguised panic.
As she finished speaking, the atmosphere in the cave instantly became oppressive and heavy.
Mo Ming, Qi Ru, and the unconscious Mu Qi Meng all seemed to be suffocating under the weight of this sudden curse.
Mo Ming looked down at the writhing black pattern on his chest, and an indescribable fear welled up in his heart.
The pattern seemed to come alive, slowly writhing on his skin like a snake lurking in the darkness, greedily devouring his life force.
Luo Qing stared intently at the writhing black pattern on Mo Ming's chest, her hands trembling as if she wanted to touch the source of the curse.
"We must find a way to break the curse." Luo Qing's voice was firm and decisive, but the anxiety in her eyes could not be concealed.
"It's a curse! It's the curse of the sea god!" Qi Ru suddenly remembered, her voice echoing in the cave, filled with undisguised terror.
Luo Qing and Mo Ming both turned to look at her, only to see that her face was as pale as paper and her eyes were filled with fear.
"How did you know?" Luo Qing asked nervously, her voice trembling slightly.
Qi Ru took a deep breath, trying to calm the panic in her heart. She looked at Mo Ming and Luo Qing, a hint of determination flashing in her eyes.
“I once saw a description of the Sea God’s curse in my family’s ancient books.” Qi Ru’s voice was low and solemn. “This curse was cast down by the Sea God, and only those who offend the Sea God will be punished in this way.”
Luo Qing helped Mo Ming sit against the stone wall. "Who is the Sea God? We destroyed the forces of darkness and protected the Heart of the Ocean, so why are we still cursed by him?"
"Also, why are they all cursed, but the two of us are fine?" A hint of doubt welled up in Luo Qing's heart.
"I didn't know. It was a banned book. I only read a little bit before my father found out," Qi Ru said with a guilty tone.
“But I know where it is, I’ll take you there,” Qi Ru said eagerly.
Luo Qing looked at her, remained silent for a while, and finally asked, "In this situation, how can I trust you?"
A flicker of pain and regret flashed in Qi Ru's eyes. She bit her lower lip tightly, as if trying to suppress the sorrow in her heart.
He gripped her arm tightly with both hands, his eyes filled with pleading and despair. "I'm sorry, it's all because of me. If it weren't for me, you wouldn't have been caught up in this curse."
Luo Qing looked at her, and the anger in her heart gradually subsided. She understood that Qi Ru was also a victim, and she too was searching for a way to break the curse.
Luo Qing took a deep breath. "I don't blame you. Helping you was our own choice, but now you have to prove your innocence."
Qi Ru's body trembled in the dim cave, her voice filled with self-reproach.
She lowered her head, not daring to look into Luo Qing's eyes, her hands tightly clasped together, as if trying to grasp at a sliver of hope.
"I'm sorry, it was all because of me," she repeated again, each word sounding like pain squeezed from the bottom of her heart.
Luo Qing looked at her, a complex emotion flashing in her eyes.
She knew that Qi Ru hadn't intentionally dragged them into this crisis, but she still had to be cautious and not trust her too easily.
Suddenly, Qi Ru looked up at Luo Qing, her eyes shining with determination.
“I know how to prove my innocence.” She took a deep breath, her voice resolute.
