Chapter 19 Water Sleeves Show Begins
A person with an extremely complex background walked over slowly.
He wore a huge unfolded folding fan on his head, like a phoenix crown, decorated with various lotus flowers, which spread out in all directions, making the audience overwhelmed.
He was wearing a pink and white theatrical robe with two long sleeves dragging on the ground.
Cang Ming hid behind a shelf, holding his breath, staring at him without blinking. As if sensing Cang Ming's gaze, he slowly turned his head and smiled.
It was a face made of white paper, like a smooth mask, with the facial features drawn in black ink.
"Go away!" Cang Ming slapped him, and a yellow talisman hit his face with a snap.
Old Ghost Lian was caught off guard and retreated with a cry, but it was too late. The yellow talisman immediately exploded as it touched his face, sending flames several feet high.
Old Guilian grabbed his burning face and shouted, "Who are you?"
Cang Ming drew his sword and pointed it sideways, stabbing more than a dozen acupoints in the blink of an eye. He said, "I am your grandfather!"
Old Guilian shouted loudly, pulled off the head with both hands and threw it towards Cang Ming.
The fireball whizzed and rolled in the air for a few weeks, and the white face narrowed its eyes and grinned in the flames.
Cang Ming quickly dodged and jumped to the side, slashing with his sword, knocking the head away halfway and falling into a wooden tub full of bath water with a thud, splashing water all over the sky.
Old Guilian whispered, "Look at me." A new head emerged from his empty neck. On that head, a face was made of white paper and a portrait was painted.
Cang Ming's sword flowers were spinning, the long sword was dancing tightly, and the ice blade was like a tail of cold light.
A hexagonal snowflake-shaped magic circle formed, instantly gleaming with brilliance. Old Ghost Lotus swung out two long sleeves, which swam like two white snakes, pushing away the silver light emitted by the magic circle one by one.
Cang Ming shouted, "Why don't you surrender right here!" As he spoke, he flicked his sword, and golden light suddenly shone brightly in the eight directions of the room. The yellow talismans, red talismans, Bagua mirrors, luminous flags that had been hidden in advance... all shone brightly.
Old Guilian's sleeves had already wrapped around Cang Ming's sword, pulling her forward and causing her to stagger, almost causing the sword to fly out of her hand.
In an instant, the execution ground was fully opened. Old Guilian screamed, retracted his hands, and jumped back, dancing his two sleeves to protect his whole body.
Talisman paper rustled, the Bagua mirror shimmered, and the luminous flag fluttered in the wind. To maintain their presence, Xisheng, Wulu, and Wei Qiang each contributed their most valuable treasures.
Old Ghost Lotus suddenly tore off the newly grown head, hugged it in his arms and rolled on the ground: "My head hurts - my head hurts -"
Cang Ming drew the sword gestures with his hands, silently chanted the talisman, and rushed towards Lao Guilian. He stabbed him with the sword, but Lao Guilian rolled on the ground to avoid it, and a head flew towards him.
"Go away!" Cang Ming despaired and knocked the head aside with his sword. After the head fell to the ground, the corners of its mouth turned up and it jumped towards her.
"I'll give it to you, all of it." Another head grew on the old ghost lotus' neck, which he then pulled off and threw towards Cang Ming.
Cang Ming attacked left and right, but was entangled by the flying heads. He was so busy flying up and down that he couldn't get away.
The headless body dodged to the side in the chaos, and with a throw of his sleeves, he reached for the head in the bathtub.
Cang Ming was locked in a fierce battle with a pile of heads, when he suddenly took a moment out of his busy schedule to attack Shui Xiu: "Want to grab your hair flower?"
Old Guilian spun around, dodging Cang Ming's sword with her sleeves, and headed towards the bathtub.
Cang Ming suddenly had an idea, turned around and kicked his head into the tub. As soon as his head entered the water, he floated up and down, and as expected, he could no longer move.
Old Guilian's empty body was startled: "Ah... you found me..."
Cang Ming sneered, swung his sword with one hand to block two whizzing sleeves, and while spinning and moving, he kicked more than a dozen heads into the water one by one.
A series of ghostly heads floated on the water, their ink spreading as they were soaked in water. Each white face had a different, sinister expression. Cang Ming accidentally glanced at them and immediately shuddered.
Seizing this momentary flaw, Old Ghost Lotus pulled herself away and floated down the stairs, screaming, "Shameless, you shameless Taoist nun..."
A pale white candle was lit in the lobby at some point.
In the blue-green firelight, Xisheng sat at the table and drank by himself. He picked up a few edamame in front of him and threw them away without even looking at them.
The edamame hit the rope hanging the paper flag one by one, then jumped up and fell again, in an endless cycle, just like the music of Gong, Shang, Jiao, Zheng and Yu played on the strings of a zither. The water dragon responded by coming out, swimming around the inn, opening its sharp teeth and biting at the old ghost.
Old Guilian screamed, flicked his sleeves to block the water dragon summoned by the music, and fled to the back door again.
Wu Lu quietly came out from the kitchen and blocked his way. He swung his cane and hit her sleeves with a thud like a drum.
The headless man swayed twice, staggered back, and said with a grin, "Even if three Taoist priests came to catch me, it's worth it..."
"Four." Wei Qiang suddenly poked his head out from the beam and sent out more than a dozen red talismans to block the old ghost's retreat.
Xisheng said coldly: "If we hadn't wanted to catch you alive, you would have died long ago."
Wu Lu shouted, "Hurry up and tell me! Who is Tian Xinshu to you?"
The headless man knelt limply on the ground and said, "It's unfair. I was just doing things for her. She made those embroidered shoes."
"Did she kill the young man too?" Wei Qiang looked down from a high vantage point and sprinkled a basin of rice on Old Guilian like rustling raindrops.
"Don't do it, don't do it." Old Guilian covered his body with his sleeves and said inconsolably, "That was all her doing. It has nothing to do with me..."
"Did she also set the curse?" Cang Ming asked condescendingly, standing behind the railing on the second floor.
"What curse?" Old Guilian was stunned for a moment and denied it repeatedly, "I don't know, it's all her fault, she did it all..."
"This thing looks really useless." Wu Lu frowned and said, "Even other powerful monsters surrendered without a fight, but they are not like this..."
"Masters, please let me go. I know the real disciples of the Pear Garden are not here, but the real Old Ghost Lotus is not here either..." The headless figure raised his sleeves and stroked the temples of the void, and his words shocked everyone.
"Are you a stand-in?" Xisheng was even surprised.
Cang Ming jumped down the stairs, untied the small enamel gourd attached to the corner of his belt, and shook it in the wind, and the gourd became several times bigger.
Just as he was about to put the old ghost into the gourd, he suddenly sang in a soft, singing voice: "In the past, I was at your side, but now the night is long and dark. Even with spiritual communication, it is difficult to find my parents, and my remaining soul has turned into smoke."
It is like a song but not a song, whispering quietly, touching the heart.
When Cang Ming came back to his senses, he found himself holding a gourd in a daze, his hands trembling, his face covered with tears. He immediately kicked him in the face: "Shut up!"
With a strange laugh, the gourd was empty.
The headless figure took advantage of Cang Ming's distraction, threw his sleeves, wrapped around the stair railing, and flew into the guest room with a slight swing of his body.
The dozen or so heads in the tub started shouting one after another: "Come on, come on—"
The headless figure picked up the head with the fan, put it on his neck, wrapped the rest of the head with his sleeves, and flew out of the window.
The flames in the magic circle rose up into the sky, but he used his sleeves to beat out a gap in it.
"Chase!" Cang Ming jumped onto the sword and followed him on the sword.
The gorgeous figure was speeding across the rooftops of the city.
Cang Ming was really worried about the Liyuan disciples, so he turned around and said to the three people following behind him: "Go chase him!"
As he said this, he turned around and flew towards the City God Temple.
The City God Temple was completely silent, with bright lights, and the magic circle was as solid as a rock, not broken at all.
Cang Ming's heart sank, a sense of foreboding that something bad was about to happen looming. She passed through the magic circle and knocked on the temple door.
"Master, it's you!" A handsome young man opened the door and greeted him warmly. "The magic array you and your friends created is truly amazing! They say that ghost towns are haunted, but we've had a peaceful night!"
Cang Ming nodded and said, "I'm glad you're all okay! Let's set off as soon as the sun rises."
"Ghost Buster! What happened?" Wei Qiang's cry came from behind.
Cang Ming closed the temple door, turned around and shook his head at him: "Let's go, you can't catch us."
"Has the real Old Ghost Lotus arrived?" Wei Qiang looked around. "Why isn't there any sign of a fight?"
"We wanted to trick him, but he tricked us instead." Cang Ming forced a smile, "He's not a stand-in, he's the real Old Ghost Lotus."
"Great! This old guy is very cunning!" Wei Qiang was furious. "Zou Chaoxian and Yinlüxian are chasing him. Let's go and help him!"
"Zou Chaoxian and Yinlüxian didn't catch up with him either." Wu Lu's sarcastic voice came from the end of the road.
He and Xisheng emerged from the thick predawn fog. Xisheng said dejectedly, "That thing didn't have much guts, but it had a lot of brains. We couldn't even beat him."
"That's right, that thing's combat power is quite strong. I was careless." Cang Ming said in frustration, "I actually believed his lies that he was a substitute. How could a substitute fight us to a draw?"
"There's no other way. Human life is at stake. I have to come and take a look." Xisheng stretched his head to look into the temple. "No matter what, the old ghost didn't hurt any innocent people this time."
"Yinlüxian, the group of kids you found to pretend to be the opera disciples really look like the real thing." Wei Qiang patted Wu Lu's shoulder and praised him.
"Go away, you're being disrespectful. We haven't just met yet, yet you keep calling me senior." Wu Lu waved his cane and said, "I'll tell them to go away when I get back. Oh, I've wasted so much fig and pear soup..."
Xisheng interrupted him in a daze: "Let's go, this formation is suppressed by magic weapons, it can't be broken."
Cang Ming sat down under a big tree and said to the others, "I'll be on guard here. This time... I'm really going to trouble you."
Wu Lu snorted, "You didn't bother us last time?"
Xisheng said, "Why should we be so polite? We are immortals after all. Don't we know how to save the people?"
Wei Qiang looked at them with eyes filled with utter admiration. The three of them walked towards the Third Lane of Xiyuan, chatting and laughing.
Cang Ming stayed in front of the temple and sat down alone against a big tree, exhausted and with a frown on his face.
"General."
Cang Ming's heart moved, and he slowly opened his eyes. He wore a silver-white robe, dark blue trousers and long boots, and his legs were straight, strong and slender.
Wei Ci leaned over and knelt on one knee in front of her, and asked softly, "Are you okay?"
Dawn was about to break in the east, and in the azure morning light, his presence seemed like a scene from a dream. Cang Ming looked up at him, momentarily unable to distinguish between the void and the human world.
