She looked at him with surprise and joy, as if she had found something that had been lost for a long time and was found unexpectedly so soon.

As soon as she stood firm, her real husband let go of her hand.

Shen Dian'an's face was as cold as ice, and his voice was devoid of warmth. "Didn't I tell you that if someone dares to bully you, you have to pay them back tenfold or a hundredfold?"

Ye Yuanyin nodded awkwardly, his expression looking flustered and pitiful, "I was just about to call the police."

Sediment urged her, “So what are you waiting for?”

Ye Yuanyin was stunned. "Are you really reporting this?"

"Hey, Mr. Shen, Mr. Shen, please don't be like this." Mr. Chai was dissatisfied with the young man's rising prominence and said with a curled lip, "We'll see each other again. Please don't embarrass me."

"You're talking about face?" His cold eyes seemed to hide a knife. "You've even set your sights on my wife. Who can I ask for my face?"

"What!" Mr. Chai yelled, his face suddenly flushed with embarrassment.

Although Assistant Ye always emphasized that she was married, he automatically ignored the possibility that she would marry into a wealthy family.

After all, a girl who is young and inexperienced in the world, with simple clothes and face, and such awkward speech, manners and etiquette for entertaining guests, does not look like someone who has a strong family background.

Who would have thought that she would marry Chen Yan'an.

Only then did Mr. Chai take a closer look at her. This clean and innocent girl standing next to him, who was so tall and handsome, seemed to be gilded with a layer of gold. Suddenly, they looked like a perfect match.

"I'm dying!" He couldn't help but complain, "This is Assistant Ye's fault. Why didn't you tell me about this great match earlier?"

His old face flushed as he left in embarrassment.

The atmosphere was very awkward, and those who stayed had to bear the consequences silently.

Seeing that her face was flushed red from holding her breath, Chen Yan turned around and was about to leave.

Ye Yuanyin was stunned. He stopped him and instinctively asked, "You—you don't even ask me what happened?"

He stopped and looked down at her, as she wished: "What's the matter?"

Such a perfunctory attitude, as if the other party was a trouble that could not be shaken off, made her heart feel like it was drowning in an icy deep pool.

Ye Yuanyin asked sensitively: "Are you blaming me?"

Xiandian was a reasonable man. He didn't ask much of her, just for respect. "I told you to wait for all the men around you. While we're married, can you please respect my wishes?"

"Do you think I'm seducing them?"

"Not really." He looked at her, his face calm. "At least, you can keep your distance."

The arrow pierced her heart, and Ye Yuanyin smiled in anger. "I wish you could experience my current situation, even for just one day. Maybe you'll understand how malicious this world is towards people like us." She bit the syllables and emphasized again, "I didn't take the initiative to provoke anyone, I didn't!"

Looking at his expression, he couldn't understand the source of her excitement. Ye Yuanyin thought that his world was bright and happy, and his identity and status meant that he was surrounded by kind people who greeted him with smiles.

"I understand." Yan Zhan looked into her burning eyes and asked uncertainly, "Perhaps, do I need to hear your explanation?"

Such considerate and businesslike manner.

"What's there to explain?" Ye Yuanyin's heart was shattered. He felt completely embarrassed standing there, utterly humiliated. "Should I be happy that I'm popular and liked? Or should I reflect on whether my behavior is inappropriate? I don't even know why someone would be interested in me."

Just as Chen Yan was about to persuade her, she said self-deprecatingly, "Forget it, you don't need to answer. I'd rather not say anything, just like you wish."

Ye Yuanyin thought that he didn't like her. He had no intention of paying attention to the psychological changes of a stranger, nor did he want to understand her inner pain and unwillingness.

How ridiculous! When a person doesn't like another person, they feel distant even when standing face to face.

The show wasn't over yet, and she returned to the private room. For the second half of the show, she wore a cold expression, her emotions no longer affecting anyone present.

Mr. Chai naturally didn't dare to provoke her again. Even when Chen Yan'an looked at him, he would avoid her because of her sudden depression.

Aunt Yang felt that the atmosphere at home was not right.

Ever since the two of them came back from outside together that night, they didn't talk to each other for two consecutive days.

Tomorrow is the National Day holiday, and Chen Yixia is already on vacation. She carefully asked, "Grandma, do you feel it's cold at home?"

Aunt Yang quickly stopped her, "Don't talk nonsense."

Sediment came down from upstairs to eat breakfast. Halfway through, he suddenly asked, "What is she busy with?"

Aunt Yang said, "I haven't seen him these past few days."

Chen Dian'an put down the chopsticks in his hand, turned his eyes to Chen Dian Xia, and asked in a negotiating tone: "Can you go to her room and take a look?"

"I'm not going!" Chen Yinxia pouted, her round eyes gleaming with brilliance. "You two are arguing, so why should I be cannon fodder?"

Sediment was stunned for a moment. It turned out that no matter what the relationship between him and her was, to outsiders, they were always a couple. "Who said we were arguing?"

"Do you think I'm a fool?" Chen Yanxia glared at me and said stubbornly, "Whoever provoked me should go and appease me."

He coughed softly, got up and went upstairs to knock on the door.

There was no one in the house, and all the belongings had disappeared. On the table lay a divorce petition, which she had already signed.

Chen Di'an called her cell phone, but of course the call went unanswered.

Ye Yuanyin disappeared, leaving his world completely. It was as if such a person had never been in the world.

*

Half a year later.

The mountains are continuous and one after another.

The last rays of spring light in March disappeared behind the horizon, as if a curtain had been drawn across the sky, shrouding the undulating greenery in darkness.

A cluster of flames was dancing in the mountains.

As the torches moved, two people, one big and one small, were walking down the mountain.

Ye Yuanyin held a torch in one hand and held Wang Yaya's hand with the other. Both of them had baskets full of clay on their backs.

Ten-year-old Wang Yaya was still playful. A small stone under her foot was kicked far away with her footsteps. She looked up at the young woman beside her and asked, "Sister, is Aunt Long's cough better? Can the kiln open on time this year?"

Ye Yuanyin looked at the indigo sky in the distance, trying hard to find a ray of light in this depressing scene.

"Don't worry, if mom's illness doesn't get better, I'm still here for you."

"Sister, do you really want to stay in the village?" Wang Yaya's little brain was confused. She asked doubtfully, "But grandma said that if you leave, don't come back. It's so poor here."

Ye Yuanyin smiled, stroked her soft hair and said, "It's even harder outside."

"How could that be?" Wang Yaya's childish voice rang out, and she sounded a little unhappy. "Don't lie to me. Why did you go out to study when it's not good outside?"

Ye Yuanyin stopped talking, tightened the girl's hand and said, "We have to hurry, it looks like it's going to rain."

As soon as he finished speaking, the vast mountains seemed to be covered with clumps of silk. When the wind blew, the silk formed a net that wrapped people tightly.

The rain in March is obscure and incomprehensible, as if pulling at the gloom of April and the melancholy of May, soaking through the clothes bit by bit.

The two people, one big and one small, quickened their pace.

When they came out of the mountains, they turned onto the main road heading home, which was the only cement road in the village.

The dim lights were everywhere and smoke was rising from the houses in the village.

A black SUV drove up from behind, and Ye Yuanyin took Wang Yaya to the side of the road.

As the car drove past, she looked at the taillights and snapped back to reality, her heart pounding. But it was only a moment before Ye Yuanyin felt ridiculous again. Why would he come here?

There is no place for such a precious person in the remote mountains.

Ye Yuanyin and the little girl separated at a fork in the road. Wang Yaya handed her the much smaller backpack and repeatedly reminded her, "Sister, be sure to notify me when the kiln opens."

The young woman assured the little girl, "I know, just go slow."

A bird fluttered by and flew low, and Ye Yuanyin returned home with the backpack in his arms.

Her mother was cooking. When she saw her return, she looked outside at the endless drizzle and sighed, saying, "This is the first rain of the year. Change your clothes; it's time for dinner."

"I understand."

She put the clay into the small house on the west side, turned around and went into the smaller house on the north side, changed into her casual coarse cloth clothes, and went to the kitchen to help her mother prepare dinner.

There was a knock on the door in the yard, one knock after another.

My mother put down her work and asked in a hoarse voice, "Who is it?"

"Third girl, it's me."

Grandma turned around and said to Ye Yuanyin, "Why is he here?"

Ye Yuanyin said nonchalantly, "Are you here to eat for free again?"

Ama took a few quick steps to open the door and saw that the village director Zheng Baoshu was followed by a tall young man. There was a lamp hanging on the low door lintel, and the dim yellow light was cast on him, but his face could not be seen clearly.

She smiled and asked, "Director Zheng, why are you here?"

"Is Ain here?"

"Here I am."

"Come on then." Zheng Baoshu led the group behind him, speaking politely. "It just rained, and the muddy road is hard to walk on. Please bear with me, Mr. Shen."

"You're welcome, Director."

A man's good voice is like the sound of gold and jade colliding, clear and moving, yet revealing strict etiquette.

Zheng Baoshu sniffed and grinned, "Oh, are you guys cooking? No wonder it smells so good."

Ye Yuan thought that he was here to eat and drink for free during meal time again, so he didn't like him very much. He just called him "Uncle Bao" without even raising his head.

Zheng Baoshu didn't take it as a problem and warmly greeted the distinguished person beside him, "Mr. Chen, please sit inside. Don't stand outside, you'll get wet."

New firewood was added, and the flames in the furnace lit up.

Ye Yuanyin looked up suddenly, meeting the man's calm eyes. He was wearing a well-tailored black coat. Even after six months, he still looked low-key and elegant.

Because of his presence, the not-so-small yard seemed very narrow.

She stood up involuntarily.

Director Zheng enthusiastically introduced him, "This is Ye Yuanyin, a top student from our village. Not many people in our county can get into Ancheng University. He's quite remarkable. He's an artist now, and he came back this time to gather inspiration for his work."

Because the man opposite knew everything, these flattering words made Ye Yuanyin feel even more embarrassed.

But Chen Yan just smiled very measuredly and said flatteringly, "It's indeed excellent."

"Third daughter," Zheng Baoshu explained his purpose to A-ma. "Brother Longyan is in town for a meeting and specifically asked me to bring her here. There's nothing decent to do in the village. Doesn't A-yin's father have a study? Let's let the distinguished guest stay for a night."

Grandma was already used to people introduced by her brother. "Then don't stand in the yard. Come in quickly, cough cough," she couldn't help but cough a few times, and then instructed her daughter, "Prepare dinner."

"knew."

Ye Yuanyin set the dining table in the main hall. Zheng Baoshu wanted to stay and eat with them, but seeing that there were only three pairs of chopsticks, he felt it was not appropriate to stay any longer. He shook hands with Chen Yan'an, exchanged some polite words, and left.

Grandma brought a towel to the guest and helped him wipe off the raindrops on his body.

Ye Yuanyin silently shuttled between the kitchen and the main room, silently putting the food on the table.

"Auntie, let me do it." Yandi'an spoke standard Mandarin, with a civilized tone that didn't belong here. "Thank you."

He took off his coat, revealing an Italian-made white shirt with light blue stripes and a black tie around his neck. He casually wiped his coat with a towel. A watch was pressed under his sleeve, appearing and disappearing as he moved.

The firewood in the hearth crackled, and he turned to see the young woman illuminated by the fire.

She was wearing a blue and green national costume with buttons, a coarse cloth apron tied around her slender waist, and her hair was tied up with a hairpin. A few strands of hair hung down and meandered around her neck as she moved, making her look more lively than usual.

The firelight illuminated his smooth forehead, where a few drops of sweat seeped out. He poked the fire stick a few times with his white hands, then stood up and lifted the lid of the iron pot with a coarse cloth.

The hot air covered her delicate and dignified face.

Chen Di'an walked over calmly.

Ye Yuanyin was carrying a plate of food when she didn't expect him to come over. She was startled when she turned around, and a few drops of soup spilled on his shirt. She looked very upset, but before she could say anything, Yan Zhen'an said, "It's not a big deal. It's not worth your attention."

How could she not care? She couldn't afford to pay for such expensive clothes.

Suddenly, my hand felt lighter and the plate had been taken away by the man.

Apart from my uncle coming over for dinner occasionally, there hasn't been a male in this house for a long time.

Chendi An looked around. Despite the limited conditions, the place was really clean and tidy, and there was warmth everywhere.

The rules of the family are that you don’t talk while eating or sleeping, and the two women don’t talk to each other at the dinner table.

Chen Di'an is a person of aloof and solemn character, and he won't speak easily unless it's something serious.

After eating a few mouthfuls of rice, A'ma made an exception and said to Ye Yuanyin, "After dinner, go and clean up Dad's study and give it to Mr. Shen to live in."

She nodded.

The rain outside had stopped. The moon emerged from behind the clouds, shimmering silver between heaven and earth.

After dinner, Ye Yuanyin cleaned up the dishes, put them in a wooden basin, and took them to the yard to wash.

There was a big round moon hidden in the water tank. A ladle made of gourd was stretched in, stirring up the silver waves in the pool.

Yan Dian walked to her side, raised his head and took a deep breath. The mountains were lush and green, and he felt a little intoxicated by the oxygen.

"When are you planning to return to Ancheng?"
