Chapter 28 Chorus and Dancers

Chapter 28 Chorus and Dancers

"Boom--whoa!" A violent noise rang out in the underground cave.

Strands of flesh fell from the sky, slamming heavily into the water, creating a water column several meters high.

The fish-shaped remains in the center twisted and opened and closed its mouth, as if dancing a strange and ominous dance, while using passionate singing to instruct the flesh and blood around it to attack the delphinium.

Delphinium flew close to the water surface, circling low along the edge of the cave, avoiding the flesh whiskers that rushed over from time to time. It raised its wand and tentatively shot a few beams of magic power at the remaining beast in the center.

However, the magic beam hit the crippled beast and disappeared like a fish sinking into the water and a wild goose disappearing into the distance. It failed to provoke any reaction from the opponent, nor did it cause any harm.

From the perspective of Delphinium, it can be found that the magic beam automatically disintegrates and dissipates silently just after touching the surface of the crippled beast.

“Is there really a chrysalis shell?”

This was the first time she showed surprise since she entered this place: "Has it evolved to this point?"

The pupa shell is a physical ability that extends from the pupa-level remnant beasts as they continue to store nutrients and evolve to a higher level. It gives the remnant beasts the ability to disintegrate and protect against pure magic attacks within a certain limit.

The remnant beasts were originally very vulnerable to physical damage, so when they evolved into pupa shells, it meant that there were no blind spots in terms of defense, and it was difficult to be hurt. Just hearing this was enough to make ordinary people feel powerless.

Fortunately, the word "shell" in the name of the pupa shell indicates its properties - for the magical girls, it can actually be broken.

If you want to bypass the pupa shell and harm the remaining beast, there are usually only two ways: one is to use magic power beyond its tolerance limit to continuously attack, using force to overcome cleverness and forcibly break the shell; the other is to use non-physical and non-pure magic damage abilities.

The first method is siege, which is the method with the lowest requirements. It only requires a sufficient number of magical girls, even if they are all newcomers of the species level. A group of magical girls rush forward and use magic power to attack. The huge magic power can directly break through the cocoon shell and attack the remaining beast.

Of course, if an extremely powerful magical girl arrives, it is not impossible for her to use her individual magic power to completely crush a pupa-level beast and defeat it.

There are more methods for the second method, but the requirements are relatively higher. The most common one is magic construct. The power of magic construct comes from the true form of the magic girl, which is the product of the unity of soul and magic. It is naturally able to restrain the chrysalis of the remnant beast.

Therefore, when the number is insufficient, only magical girls above the Bud level are required to participate in the expedition.

Tilting her head during the high-speed flight and looking at the remaining beast in the center, Delphinium regained her composure: although the presence of the pupa shell surprised her, it was not unexpected, because this was exactly why she came here alone.

There were only three magical girls in Fangting City to date, and this number was definitely not enough to break the chrysalis shell. Considering that the other two did not master the magic construct, they would not be able to cause effective damage even if they came, so Delphinium decided not to let them participate.

And now, it seemed that because it knew that there was only one enemy, the fish-shaped beast was particularly unscrupulous. After being counterattacked by the Delphinium, it danced even more wantonly, summoning more tentacles to extend towards the Delphinium from all directions.

Delphinium's face was calm, her clothes rustled, her hair fluttered in the air, and she slightly opened her lips:

"Magic power construction, extraction."

She murmured, and the magic wand in her hand turned into magic power that scattered everywhere. Dense magic threads flickered and connected the entire space of the cave.

The limbs were blocked, the tentacles were cut off, and the blood of the remaining beasts splattered everywhere, but not even a trace of it stained the corners of her clothes. She continued to fly, and the surroundings became empty in an instant, without any trace of the enemy.

But this grand choral and symphonic music performance is far from over.

The huge cave is the stage. The mutilated beast in the center of the stage is the conductor of the concert and its own choir. The limbs hanging in the cave are the members of its symphony orchestra and dancers.

The attack will not end until its performance stops.

As a wave of attacks was broken and its tentacles shattered to the ground, its singing style changed, becoming a completely different mournful tune from before.

As the singing sounded, as if inspired by something, a series of bubbles suddenly appeared in the dim pool of water below the cave, and countless objects suddenly emerged from under the water and rose high into the sky.

Delphinium had not yet seen clearly what had emerged from the water, but her inner alertness caused her flying trajectory to suddenly change.

"Bang!" At the moment she changed lanes, a ball of sewage suddenly passed through her original trajectory and hit the inner wall of the cave, making a loud noise.

It's a water cannon.

Delphinium understood, and as her mind raced, she had already figured out what was in the pool below. Looking down from the air, the densely packed objects had revealed their true appearance: they were all the heads of the remaining beasts.

——The head of a cavity-dissolved animal.

The chorus's singing is mournful and sad, but the voices gradually rise, the rhythm becomes stronger, the high notes rise and fall, and the dominant chords raise the mood of the music to its peak, as if it has entered a climax stage.

"Boom, boom, boom!" One after another, water cannons rang to the beat, and from the pool below, they fired at the direction where the delphinium was. "Swish, swish, swish!" The tentacles that sounded like whip blades swung down from the sky, waving towards the figure in the air with a shrill sound of wind.

The delphinium twisted its flying body like a bullet and accelerated again.

Any leaf-level magical girl would have difficulty escaping from such an intensive and dangerous attack, but it was not the case for her.

Delphinium was like a solo dancer who had entered a symphony orchestra, moving between the seats. Her light dance steps and intense movements were extraordinary but not inconsistent, as if she had become part of the performance. She kept dodging attacks and using her magic suit to fight back. The solo dancer kept leaping from the edge of the orchestra pit and rushed towards the podium in the center.

She easily passed the brass section, and the woodwind section could not hold her back. The violinist was stopped to the side by her silk thread, and the music could not stop her dancing figure.

The singer on the podium felt provoked.

It is a singer and a conductor, and this concert should not be out of its control. Outsiders should quietly enjoy it under the stage, rather than barging in and disturbing its performance.

The grand welcome party ended here, and the next thing to do was to drive away the troublesome audience.

So it shut its mouth.

As the fish-shaped beast in the center closed its huge mouth, the originally thunderous singing suddenly stopped.

The strings of colorful flags of flesh and blood hanging in the air squirmed and expanded, the pieces of flesh hanging above cracked open one after another, mouths full of sharp teeth opened, and tongues stuck out; the egg-level beasts below also shrank their cavity, stopped the continuous water cannon bombardment, and opened their mouths, which should have been their weakness.

Delphinium's pupils contracted slightly.

She suddenly raised her hand and made an uncommon gesture towards the dense silk threads in the air.

Immediately afterwards, explosive sound waves suddenly sounded from all directions, piercing through the inner wall of the cave, blowing away the accumulated water, and almost shattering all foreign objects in the entire space.
