Chapter 11 Communication
Jiang Xia helped Wu Zhou up, unbuttoned his shirt, and patted his back to help him catch his breath.
The biggest fear for intoxicated people is choking on their vomit and dying from it.
Only after Wu Zhou felt comfortable did he dare to lay him down.
Even so, Jiang Xia was still uneasy and dared not leave until his assistants arrived.
Bored, he sat on the edge of the bed, tracing the contours of Wu Zhou's face.
Looking closely at his eyebrows and eyes, Wu Zhou doesn't look much like Wu Ming, but they do share some similarities in their daily interactions.
Wu Zhou looks more rugged, while Wu Ming is perhaps younger and more youthful and energetic.
However, the two brothers have very similar lip shapes and distinct corners of their mouths. But Wu Zhou has a serious expression and always likes to purse his lips, as if nothing can make him happy.
Jiang Xia lowered his eyes and saw beads of sweat on Wu Zhou's forehead and nose. He gently wiped them away with a tissue.
Aren't you happy either?
These were the questions Jiang Xia didn't ask aloud.
He had heard Wu Ming say that Wu's father was a womanizer and had a lover with a fiery personality.
Taking advantage of Mr. Wu's boundless affection for her, she not only became arrogant and domineering, but also once tried to kill the two sons of the original wife in order to make way for her own children.
Mr. Wu was willing to turn a blind eye to this.
He probably thought that since his relationship with his first wife had already deteriorated, and he was worried that his future would be very miserable if he handed over the reins of the company to Wu Zhou and Wu Ming, he bet all his wealth on his mistress's child.
Wu Ming's mother took the still young Wu Ming back to Duliang.
Wu Ming spent a few carefree years in that small county town, while Wu Zhou went abroad to study alone. After completing his studies, he demonstrated his business acumen and developed overseas branches.
After Wu Zhou and his friends founded the studio, he served as both manager and technical expert, and it took many years for him to achieve his current success.
The most important core project of Jiusi Technology is what he brought back from the overseas branch.
This may explain why Wu Zhou had shallow kinship with others.
"You must be very tired..."
Jiang Xia leaned over the bed, looking at his face, and tilted her head: "Are you urging Wu Ming to marry Miss Xie to make up for his unhappy childhood? Why don't you date and get married yourself?"
Jiang Xia muttered to himself, his thoughts wandering: "After they get married, they'll definitely settle down in Mengcheng, and Wu Ming definitely won't have time to hang out with me anymore."
Jiang Xia sighed, "There will be no one to talk to then... The cost of living in Mengcheng is too high. Duliang is more suitable for me."
I can get used to the eating habits, the way I speak, and the local customs.
If you're going to spend your whole life alone, you might as well stay in a place you're familiar with.
He murmured and asked several questions, but received no answer.
People often speak the truth when they're drunk, but what if they're completely intoxicated? Jiang Xia's gaze traced the profile of Wu Zhou's face. It was a perfect profile, with a high, straight nose. Even in his sleep, his lips were slightly pursed, and his hair, which was usually combed back, was now disheveled.
Unexpectedly, the thing I should have done most tonight was to persuade Wu Zhou not to drink too much.
Jiang Xia stood up and looked around. The private room was actually a suite, which included a reception hall, an indoor washroom, a viewing balcony, and a tea room.
He first went to the tea room to boil a pot of water, and then took out the hangover medicine from his bag.
Before he came, he had thought that Wu Zhou might drink alcohol and feel dizzy, so he might need his help.
He fed the medicine to Wu Zhou after the water cooled down a bit.
It's difficult to give someone medicine before they've completely fallen asleep. Jiang Xia called out softly for a while, and when he saw that Wu Zhou was regaining consciousness but his brain was clearly not responding, he guided him to open his mouth and take the medicine.
Jiang Xia pushed the medicine into Wu Zhou's mouth with his fingertips, and Wu Zhou's jaw bumped against Jiang Xia's fingertips.
The man's lips kissed his fingertips, and Jiang Xia felt a little embarrassed.
Afterwards, to prevent him from choking, Jiang Xia helped him sit up on the edge of the bed and wiped his face.
Wu Zhou closed his eyes to rest, while Jiang Xia thought to himself that he would take over the shift as soon as the caregiver his assistant found arrived.
While waiting, he rested by the bedside. At that moment, Wu Ming sent him a message, and his phone kept vibrating.
"Jiang Xia, are you asleep?"
Hey, honey, are you home right now?
"I'm so bored abroad, I want to go back to China."
"You haven't forgotten me, have you? You don't have any other dogs, do you?"
Wu Ming then sent several emojis, roughly meaning things like "Let me see," "Checking up on me," and "Don't forget me."
Jiang Xia wanted to talk to him, but after seeing Wu Ming's words, even though she was not wrong, she inexplicably couldn't bring herself to say anything.
He wanted to say that he had taken good care of a drunk person that night, and that he was very capable.
Jiang Xia was just about to reply.
Finally, Wu Ming asked suspiciously, "Why are you replying so slowly? Why haven't you replied to me yet? Oh my god—you're not in a relationship, are you?"
Wu Ming sent a tearful emoji: "Aren't you enough with me?"
Jiang Xia gripped his phone tightly. He really wanted to reply: No, Mengcheng is too big. He only has one friend here and knows some colleagues.
I can't stay here all alone and watch over him for the rest of my life.
I didn't have a happy and fulfilling family background, so I also want a wonderful home where I can take walks and talk with my loved ones after get off work, and cook and enjoy delicious food together.
Perhaps I will embrace my loved one under fireworks during the holidays.
Jiang Xia replied with a smiley face but did not answer. Wu Ming then directly requested a video call.
He was about to hang up, and just as he raised his hand to his mouth to stop his helpless sobs, a hand suddenly reached out and tightly gripped his wrist.
He looked up and saw that Wu Zhou was awake, staring at him without saying a word.
Jiang Xia's mind went blank. He quickly got up and made an excuse, saying, "I'm going outside to answer this call."
Wu Zhou suddenly gripped his wrist tightly, unwilling to let go. Jiang Xia got up too abruptly and was pulled to the bedside, almost falling into Wu Zhou's arms.
Jiang Xia looked up and met President Wu's eyes, which were very close to his.
His pupils trembled; they were too close, and the other person's reek of alcohol made him feel as if he were drunk himself.
Wu Zhou looked at his reddened eyes, his Adam's apple bobbing, and his voice hoarse: "Why are you crying?"
He was still somewhat drunk.
Jiang Xia stammered, then asked, "Really?"
He tugged at her hand, but to no avail. He could only advise, "Mr. Wu, I'll go outside to take this call so as not to disturb your rest."
Wu Zhou didn't let go, looking at him: "No, take it."
Jiang Xia had no choice but to answer: "Wu Ming."
It was still quite bright outside when Wu Ming saw Jiang Xia seemingly at the hotel. He became anxious and said, "Jiang Xia, aren't you home? Don't associate with any shady people. It will break my heart."
Jiang Xia shook his head: "No."
Wu Ming asked, "Where are you now? It looks like a hotel to me. Are you on a business trip? No, you just got back from a business trip. The company is so inhumane, why are they sending you on another business trip?!"
He pressed on relentlessly, bombarding us with a series of questions.
Wu Zhou grabbed the phone directly: "Am I some kind of shady character?"
"Big...Big Brother..."
Wu Ming was startled.
Wu Zhou said, word by word, "Call your girlfriend more often to nurture your relationship, so you won't complain after you get married."
Wu Ming tried to argue, but Wu Zhou hung up the phone immediately.
Wu Ming didn't dare to call again, because if he did, his older brother would definitely answer.
He sat by the roadside pondering why Jiang Xia was with his older brother. Perhaps it was a chance encounter, since Jiang Xia always kept to himself.
Jiang Xia had no other friends, so Wu Ming convinced himself and only sent Jiang Xia a message: "Remember to pick me up when I get back."
Jiangxia didn't see it immediately.
The atmosphere in the room was somewhat eerie.
The man finally let go, and Jiang Xia was about to leave when Wu Zhou said, "You're going back to Duliang to develop your career? I think I just heard you say that."
Jiang Xia froze, looking down at his toes: "I have this idea. I've made some money in Mengcheng, so I'll go back and buy a house."
Wu Zhou stared at his face, and Jiang Xia looked up and smiled: "Mr. Wu, now that you're awake, I'll be going now. Assistant Xie has called two assistants for you, they should be here soon."
"goodbye."
As Jiang Xia reached the door, Wu Zhou suddenly spoke up: "Jiang Xia, do you know why I'm urging Wu Ming to get married?"
A note from the author:
The cover art is a piece Rabbit commissioned a while ago. There's a little story behind it: I saw an artist drawing incredibly handsome boys in shirts, but Rabbit was writing a space-themed novel at the time. Ultimately, I couldn't resist the temptation and commissioned the work, resulting in a design of a young man reading in bed. After the artwork was finished, thinking it wouldn't be a waste, I temporarily used it as the cover image for that novel. However, it actually has absolutely nothing to do with the protagonist's appearance or personality in that novel; it's purely to showcase the beautiful artwork Rabbit commissioned.
When I was writing this article, I would look at the draft when I had no inspiration. The more I looked at it, the more I felt that Jiang Xia was just like this when he was studying. It was a perfect match. I felt that it was arranged by fate.
Of course, Rabbit also recently commissioned a piece of work, which is a bit risqué, and the cover will be changed after the illustrations are released.

Break Wu Ming's legs.
Wu Zhou: Okay.
Jiang Xia was about to leave Mengcheng.
Wu Zhou: That won't do.

Mr. Zhan hasn't realized what's happening yet. Once he does, he'll regret helping Jiang Xia get close to Wu Zhou.
Zhan Lintian: My wife! [bursting into tears]
Looking at the beginning of a chapter in my drafts, I realize that writing this makes me feel refreshed and my thoughts flow effortlessly. [Crying emoji] Please support me! For example, please leave a comment!
Jiang Xia was in a daze when Zhan Lintian forcibly carried her to the washbasin.
Not high enough, Zhan Lintian knelt down on one knee, his hands like iron clamps, gripping Jiang Xia's ankles, forcing the drunk Jiang Xia to spread his legs and step on his shoulders.
