Chapter 83 Anger

Chapter 83 Anger

Jiang Xia felt uneasy.

He hated these unexpected events, and ever since his parents died, he had been passively trapped in this anxiety about those around him.

As a young child, he was afraid that something might happen to his grandparents at home because he was going to school.

Seeing a pond makes me worry that the adults might slip and fall; seeing exposed electrical wires in the house makes me worry that they might accidentally touch them…

After all, his parents had also disappeared one ordinary morning after going out... and all that came back was news of their deaths.

He didn't even get to see his parents one last time.

The adults said the scene was too horrific and they were afraid it would traumatize him.

Later, the adults gradually ignored him, no longer paying attention to his basic needs, whether he was warm enough and well-fed, and he became a familiar stranger to them. Only then did Jiang Xia let go of his excessive worry about their lives.

This is one of the reasons why he has been reluctant to make too many friends over the years.

If you don't get it, you won't lose it.

He followed the flow of traffic and gradually approached the intersection where the accident had occurred.

The traffic police haven't arrived yet, the scene is a bit chaotic, and traffic has already started to get congested.

His eyelids kept twitching.

The unease finally materialized when he caught a glimpse of a familiar black car.

Jiang Xia opened his eyes wide, trying to see the license plate number of the car, and then mentally retorted that it was not Wu Zhou's car.

Upon seeing that moment clearly, Jiang Xia's heart skipped a beat, and he almost instinctively stopped the car.

The honking of the car behind him startled him, and he quickly parked his car a little behind the rear-end collision, making sure it wouldn't obstruct other vehicles from getting around, before hurriedly getting out of the car.

The ground was icy and slippery in the morning, so he quickened his pace, his breath almost blurring his vision.

Their hearts were pounding as if they were going to jump out of their throats and ears, and their mouths were full of bitterness. A white car had rear-ended them.

Jiang Xia glanced at it; the car owner was unharmed, the hood had popped open automatically, and the front of the car was dented, having absorbed a lot of energy.

The driver had already gotten out of the car, rubbed his head, and muttered to himself, "Why didn't I go when the light was green?"

He was quite resentful when he saw that no one got out of the car in front of him.

Jiang Xia walked straight past him, slid to the car window, grabbed the door, and quickly opened it. When she saw Wu Zhou unbuckling his seatbelt, she anxiously grabbed his arm: "Are you alright!"

He was breathing heavily, speaking haltingly, his pupils trembling.

I'm still terrified.

Was it because I let Zhan Lintian ride in Wu Zhou's car that it affected Wu Zhou's driving?

Nothing unexpected happened to him these past few days, but it was this morning that happened.

Jiangxia considered it his own fault.

Before Wu Zhou could answer, Jiang Xia quickly looked him over. He didn't see any external injuries, but he was also afraid that the internal injuries might be hidden.

"How are you? Does anything hurt? Do you have a headache or feel dizzy? Can you move?"

Wu Zhou pressed down on his hand and gently comforted him, "Jiang Xia, I'm fine. Calm down and take a deep breath."

"I can't calm down," Jiang Xia told the truth.

Jiang Xia hurriedly went to check on Zhan Lintian in the back seat. He got out of the passenger seat, quickly opened the back door, and leaned most of his body inside.

Zhan Lintian was rubbing his head when he heard the noise and sensed Jiang Xia's worry. Despite the pain, he waved his hand and said, "It's nothing, it's nothing."

As he spoke, the corner of his mouth twitched.

It really hurt; I bumped my head into the seat in front of me.

Just as Zhan Lintian was about to say something more, he looked up and saw Jiang Xia's eyes.

It was too cold outside. He had come in a hurry, and the cold wind had given his nose and eyes a faint blush. His beautiful eyes were filled with worry and lingering fear.

Zhan Lintian lowered his voice: "Why are you crying?"

Jiang Xia didn't cry, but chuckled at his words: "You've misunderstood."

But Zhan Lintian pulled the person into his arms and gently comforted him, "It's alright, I'm fine."

He held Jiang Xia in his arms, feeling the warmth of her body.

Jiang Xia hugged him tightly: "I'm sorry, I should have let you ride in my car."

Zhan Lintian never expected that he would blame the rear-end collision on the fact that he was in the car and think it was his fault.

Zhan Lintian lowered his eyes and hugged Jiang Xia tightly: "It's not your fault."

Zhan Lintian was even glad that he got into Wu Zhou's car; otherwise, it would have been Wu Zhou who got into the accident, and he would have stolen all of Jiang Xia's attention instead of him.

It just hurts a little...

He aggravated his wound and gasped in pain.

Jiang Xia quickly cupped his face in her hands, looking at it from left to right. She noticed that although there were no external injuries on his forehead, blood spots were gradually forming.

He bumped his head...

Jiang Xia said, "Go to the hospital for a thorough check-up."

The three people had only been talking for a minute or two when more cars started appearing around them, and some drivers began honking their horns.

The constant blaring of horns was making people feel uneasy.

The driver of the car behind was still arguing.

He knew it was entirely his responsibility, but the more mistakes people make, the more they like to make excuses for themselves.

"You guys are really something, you could have run a yellow light, why did you stop?"

Upon hearing the noise, Jiang Xia slowly straightened up, ignoring the cold. His breath drifted away in the wind, revealing a pair of eyes filled with shock and barely suppressed anger.

Jiang Xia glanced at him. He estimated the man to be around thirty years old, not very old. Judging from the panicked look on his face, he clearly wanted to shift all the responsibility onto the car in front, so he wouldn't have to pay a penny and would even ask the car in front to pay for his repairs.

Some complete beginners will be intimidated by him.

The other party noticed the gorge in front of them, which was higher than themselves, and suddenly fell silent.

This person looks very angry... I'd better not provoke them.

Jiang Xia narrowed his eyes, and based on his experience from the last time he was rear-ended, he opened the trunk, placed the warning triangle, and walked up to him: "I'm asking you, did you call the traffic police?"

The other person's lips trembled.

Jiang Xia took out her phone, stared at him, and calmly called the police.

"You don't know how to use a phone? I'll help you!"

The other person panicked: "No, I just want to get there as soon as possible so I can get to work!"

After Jiang Xia explained the situation to the command center, he was told, "You'll be responsible for compensation, repair costs, medical expenses, and lost wages—you won't escape any of them."

The other person was still laughing awkwardly: "Young man, don't be like that, his car is so expensive, I..."

Jiang Xia emphasized it again because she could tell he probably didn't have car insurance, which was why she was so aggressive at the beginning to embolden herself. So she specifically confronted him: "Expensive? If it was expensive, why didn't you step on the brakes?!"

Jiang Xia deliberately poked at his sore spot: "Pay up!"

"I heard you perfectly clearly! You're not going to pay a single penny less!"

"Thank goodness they're alright!" Jiang Xia said through gritted teeth.

Wu Zhou got out of the car and draped his coat over the fuming Jiang Xia.

"It's cold, put on a coat first."

Jiang Xia got out of the car in such a hurry that he didn't take off the down jacket from the passenger seat.

He clasped his hands together in front of his chest, and Wu Zhou whispered a reminder: "Come on, put your hands on and put your clothes on properly, so you don't get cold."

He opened his clothes and helped the fuming Jiang Xia put on his coat.

A note from the author:

Jiang Xia: I'm helping you guys fight back. If you try to be peacemakers, you'll get yelled at too. [Angry]

Wu Zhou: [Heart]

Zhan Lintian: [Heart]
