Chapter 114 Pitiful
Jiang Xia was dressed in thin clothes. He was standing in the underground parking garage, where the temperature was still not as good as at home.
He rubbed his arms; they were a little cold.
Wu Zhou, who was standing next to him, put his arm around him and said in a low voice with heartache, "Let's go home first."
The words fell.
His hand rested naturally on Jiang Xia's waist.
Jiang Xia looked at Wu Zhou in the direction he was looking, and the gesture was intimate, almost touching his face.
The two exchanged a glance, and Wu Zhou pulled Jiang Xia a little closer to him. This time, the two of them really rubbed their faces together.
Jiang Xia felt a little itchy and couldn't help but chuckle softly.
His voice was also very soft: "Okay, let's go home first."
The two turned and walked toward the elevator.
Wu Ming, who was hiding in the corner and spying, was still in a state of great shock.
He stood there, his mind blank, his legs filled with cement, too heavy to lift, and he dared not follow them to confront the two men.
Wu Ming searched desperately for his sister-in-law, hoping she could help him persuade Jiang Xia to change her mind and return to his side.
But now, he has discovered that Jiangxia is the "sister-in-law" he has been looking for.
He opened his eyes wide and looked at the spot where the two had just been standing.
There was no one there anymore, but the scene was still vivid in his mind. From Wu Ming's perspective, it seemed that if Wu Zhou had gotten just a little closer, he could have kissed Jiang Xia.
Jiang Xia used to avoid his elder brother and never talked about him.
Now that he can so readily accept his older brother's affection... the two of them must have already established a relationship.
Wu Ming suddenly remembered what Zhang Wenxing had said.
Zhang Wenxing said, "You brothers share the same aesthetic taste."
So that's what it meant.
Wu Ming leaned against the pillar, his legs gave way, and he slid to the ground, feeling suffocated.
Like a human skin drum, completely sealed off, the sound of a heartbeat echoes endlessly within this body, unable to be released.
He stared blankly at the empty space before him.
I kept asking myself one question: "Why Jiangxia?"
My older brother clearly knows I like Jiangxia...
My older brother had been avoiding Jiangxia from afar all along...
Ever since he got involved with Xie Xingzhang, his elder brother saw an opportunity.
Wu Ming let out a mournful cry, his voice hoarse and his lips trembling incessantly. He no longer had the strength or courage to confront his elder brother.
He also dared not face the Yangtze River Gorge directly.
In his memory, Jiang Xia always wore formal and stiff attire after graduation: suit, shirt, tie, leather shoes...
It seems like I wear the same thing every day, but it also feels different. The suit will have different patterns, the shirt will be a different color, and so will the tie and shoes...
And every time I saw Jiang Xia during this period, it seemed that he was wearing different clothes.
The outfit Jiang Xia was wearing earlier had warm colors and soft fabric. Wearing it felt like sinking into soft clouds, or being warmed by the sun – it was incredibly cozy.
It makes you want to get close to him and smell his scent.
So that's what my older brother did just now...
Wu Ming whispered Jiang Xia's name... He wasn't afraid that Jiang Xia would hate him, because there was still a chance to make amends.
He was most afraid that Jiang Xia would fall in love with someone else, because he knew Jiang Xia wouldn't cheat on him and choose him again.
In the dimly lit basement, light and shadow shifted around, and other residents walked home, passing by and heading towards the elevator.
The closed elevator doors opened and closed, the lights came on, and Wu Zhou and Jiang Xia walked out of the elevator side by side and returned home.
The housekeeper had cleaned up before leaving, and the house was spotless, except for the lingering aroma of the food in the air.
Jiang Xia changed his shoes and sat on the sofa. As soon as he sat down, Wu Zhou sat down next to him.
He pulled Jiang Xia into his arms.
A rare moment of solitude.
Wu Zhou said, "We can still have two hours alone together."
Jiang Xia looked up, saw the man's jawline, and uttered a questioning sound.
Wu Zhou touched his fingers: "Zhan Lintian will take his little niece home for an hour, and he'll definitely come back right away."
Jiang Xia nodded.
Wu Zhou spoke in a low voice again, and Jiang Xia, distracted, finally couldn't help but pull his hand away: "Stop touching me."
My fingers are almost red from his touching.
Jiang Xia looked at it and thought to himself that this behavior was no different from that of a hooligan.
Wu Zhou chuckled: "Hate me?"
That's not what I meant.
Wu Zhou countered, "Then why won't you let me continue touching you?"
Jiang Xia asked, "Why do you always touch my hand?"
"Because of happiness."
Jiang Xia repeated his answer: "Happiness?"
Wu Zhou kissed Jiang Xia's forehead: "Touching you is like inflating a balloon in the sunlight; my heart feels full and satisfied, and the sunlight feels warm on my skin."
"When I think about how we will always be together in the future, and how we will accompany each other no matter what happens, I no longer feel lonely."
He kissed Jiang Xia's eyes and whispered, "Jiang Xia, from now on, we are family."
Jiang Xia's nose tingled, and her eyes welled up with tears.
He is a person who rarely cries, unless his emotions overflow.
Jiang Xia wanted to say something, but when he opened his mouth, he couldn't utter a single word.
He thought: So it turns out that when people are happy, they really do stop thinking.
Jiang Xia hugged Wu Zhou's waist, tilted her body, and fell sideways onto the sofa, resting her head on Wu Zhou's waist.
Jiang Xia adjusted her posture again, like a puppy wriggling in Wu Zhou's arms, her body warm and her hair fluffy, gently bumping against him.
Finally, he rested his head on Wu Zhou's lap, looked up at Wu Zhou's chin, and reached out his hand. Wu Zhou tilted his head and pressed his face against Jiang Xia's palm.
Jiang Xia thought to himself: How disgusting.
Is this what it feels like to be in love?
Jiang Xia touched the man's face and said softly, "I want to take a nap first. After eating, I might still feel a little dizzy from carbs."
He was really forced to eat too much tonight.
Wu Zhou and Zhan Lintian wished that food would be stuffed into their mouths the moment they opened them.
Jiang Xia ate a little too fast, his mouth and brain didn't keep up, and by the time he realized it, his stomach was already full.
Wu Zhou patted him and said, "Go to sleep first. I'll wake you up later. Can you sleep for half an hour?"
Jiang Xia nodded.
He turned to his side and buried his face in Wu Zhou's stomach. Finally, Wu Zhou brought a pillow and helped him settle down.
Jiang Xia's eyelids were drooping, and he was so sleepy that he soon fell asleep.
When he woke up, the person who was calling out to him was Zhan Lintian.
Jiang Xia stood up, placed his hands on the sofa, and looked at Zhan Lintian.
Have I already slept for two hours?
Zhan Lintian explained, "Wenwen fell asleep shortly after we started driving, so I got out halfway and had my aunt and uncle take her home."
Jiang Xia asked, "Where is Wu Zhou?"
Zhan Lintian raised an eyebrow: "He has some trouble to deal with. Are you awake? Want to get up and walk around?"
Jiang Xia nodded, but the first thing he did after getting up was to check on the three puppies.
He had brought the three puppies to the pet room, where they were supposed to lie down. But as soon as Jiang Xia turned on the light, the three puppies suddenly darted to his feet and started howling.
Fortunately, the house is well soundproofed.
Jiang Xia stumbled over a dog with every step he took, sighing a few times before walking towards Zhan Lintian with a somewhat helpless expression.
Zhan Lintian reached out to support him, then put his arm around Jiang Xia's waist and lifted him up.
Jiang Xia lifted his feet off the ground and quickly wrapped his arms around Zhan Lintian's neck.
Zhan Lintian deliberately held him very high, so Jiang Xia could only cling to him with nowhere to put his feet down, and the three little dogs spun around.
Jiang Xia, worried that she might step on the puppy when she landed, whispered in Zhan Lintian's ear, "Hold me tight."
Zhan Lintian patted Jiang Xia on the back with a smile: "Don't worry, you won't fall."
Jiang Xia was still soft-hearted. When the puppy circled around him, he couldn't take big steps, always afraid of stepping on the puppy.
Zhan Lintian was much more "hard-hearted," probably because he had been pestered by Wenwen, his little shadow, since childhood. He was experienced and quick-witted. With a big stride, he carried Jiang Xia to the master bedroom and quickly closed the door.
Jiang Xia then landed.
He chuckled helplessly, and Zhan Lintian hugged him tightly, saying, "So adorable."
Jiang Xia asked, "Do you mean the puppy?"
Zhan Lintian wished he could meld him into his body, and Jiang Xia's waist was pressed back by him.
Zhan Lintian said, "I was talking about you."
Jiang Xia coughed once: "Don't say the word 'death'."
Zhan Lintian was puzzled.
Jiang Xia said embarrassedly, "We need to avoid the omen."
Mr. Zhan nodded, "He's quite superstitious...but..."
He grinned and said, "You're so cute I'm going to faint."
Jiang Xia couldn't push him away, and the man hugged her and teased her relentlessly.
Zhan Lintian thought to himself that Wu Ming was still somewhat effective in keeping Wu Zhou occupied.
At this moment, Wu Ming squatted down next to the garage pillar, his voice trembling: "Big brother, I know I have no chance, but why you? You clearly know that I like Jiang Xia."
Wu Zhou retorted, "Really? I didn't realize that. I thought you hated Jiang Xia."
He sneered and rebuked, "You're ignoring him, preventing him from making friends, don't you hate Jiang Xia?"
Wu Ming was about to refute.
Wu Zhou said, "Besides, you liked Miss Xie not long ago, and before that, Miss Wan and Miss Li. Are you just trying to find a girlfriend with the surname Jiang, so you're using Jiangxia to make up the Hundred Family Surnames?"
Wu Zhou always cleaned up his messes, so Wu Ming had no secrets from him.
Wu Zhou glanced at his phone, typed, and said, "Stop bothering your sister-in-law. We have a good relationship, and she's very happy now."
Before leaving, Wu Zhou, in the manner of the male host, added, "By the way, thank you for discovering his family's poverty when you went to Duliang and for helping him for many years."
After saying that, he turned and left.
While Wu Ming was sobbing on the ground, Miss Xie, who was overseas, called.
"Hey, Xingzhang," Wu Ming said in a hoarse voice.
Xie Xingzhang said happily, "Wu Ming, I've thought about it, let's get married."
"What?!"
Wu Ming was stunned.
Xie Xingzhang blew on his bangs, thinking that he could get a lot of money from his older brother Wu Zhou by marrying Wu Ming anyway.
She didn't care whether Wu Mingtong agreed or not.
A note from the author:
Miss Xie: That's right, if you have the money, we can settle the payment. [Sunglasses]
Wu Ming: I disagree.
Wu Zhou: Rejected
Zhan Lintian: Rejected
Xie Xingzhang: Rejected
Jiang Xia: Brother... Sister-in-law?
