Extra: Xie Yang's Birthday (Part 1)

Xie Yang had never celebrated his birthday before he was six years old.

He was just a puppet used by Xie Biao in exchange for his life, and a tool for the ambitious side branch of the Xie family.

Every time it was his birthday, Mrs. Xie San of the Xie family in Xizhou would miss her biological son who was far away in Zhongzhou especially, and thus would dislike Xie Yang even more.

He was born early in his life and had his first concept of birth when he was three years old.

At that time, there was a child in the Xie family of Xizhou who was two years older than Xie Yang and it was his birthday. His mother made a bowl of longevity noodles for him, and his father let the child sit on his neck and ran around the entire Xie family. Laughter and joy also spread throughout the Xie family.

Many elders gave the child gifts and sent him blessings.

The child's parents also invited many children of the same age to their home, but no one invited Xie Yang.

Even if they saw Xie Yang's eager eyes, they would look away as if nothing had happened and pretend that they saw nothing.

But that was still considered good. Some children under the guidance of their parents would come over and maliciously push Xie Yang, calling him unlucky and asking him to stay away from everyone so as not to let his bad luck affect other people's birthdays.

Xie Yang was used to such maliciousness. He was simply curious about what a birthday was and why the child and his parents were so happy on that day.

That night, the Xie family's land in Xizhou was filled with New Year's Eve lanterns for the child. The orange-yellow lights shone with a touch of warmth, making the scene seem particularly cozy.

However, Xie Yang was standing outside his house in thin clothes, feeling the chilling cold wind.

His nominal parents were disgusted with him for embarrassing himself in broad daylight and asked him to stand outside and reflect on his behavior all night.

The servants passing by felt some sympathy for him, but they just shook their heads and sighed as they walked past him, not daring to help him at all.

Later, he saw the children of the Xie family celebrating their birthdays one after another, except him.

Xie Yang was curious about his birthday, but he didn't dare ask because he knew that Mr. and Mrs. Xie would not celebrate his birthday.

He was confused and didn't understand why his nominal parents had such great malice towards him.

But some part of his nature made him unable to help but make excuses for his nominal mother.

It is said that his birthday is the day his mother gave birth to him. Did his mother suffer a lot for him, so she doesn't want to celebrate his birthday?

But he could never get an answer from them, and as he grew older, he suffered more and more malicious humiliation, until he could no longer bear it and ran away from home.

The first time Xie Yang participated in someone else’s birthday was when he was at the Yun family.

It was the coldest time of the year, and he had just arrived at the Yun family.

The person who celebrated his birthday was Yun Feiche. Xie Yang remembered that this brother didn't like him very much. He thought that he would ignore him like the child he had done back then.

But he was wrong.

Yun Feiche always had a sullen face towards him before, but that day his expression was rarely so sullen. He even gave Xie Yang several pieces of cakes, the kind that elders specially prepared to celebrate children's birthdays.

Yun Feiche was born in the year of the rabbit, so all his birthday cakes were made in the shape of little rabbits, each one lifelike and very cute.

It was the first time someone stuffed such exquisite and beautiful pastries into Xie Yang's hands, and he was a little overwhelmed.

"Why are you being so polite? Take it all, there's some for everyone." Yun Feiche finished stuffing the cakes and leaned close to Xie Yang's ear and whispered, "If you feel embarrassed, then stop clinging to Xiao Qi."

"At least don't be so clingy today! It's my birthday after all, so just let me go."

Xie Yang stared at the bunny cake in his hand and said hesitantly, "Just because I stick with Ah Miao won't prevent Ah Miao from playing with Fourth Brother today."

Yun Feiche was so angry when he heard this that he wanted to snatch the cake back, but he took a deep breath and endured it.

"Can't you just not cling to me today?"

Mr. Yun Sanye told him that Xie Yang was an insecure brother. Because Xiao Qi saved him, he always stuck to Xiao Qi because he felt most at ease only when he was with Xiao Qi.

Mr. Yun San asked him to accommodate Xie Yang and said that Xie Yang would get better slowly.

Yun Feiche also tried his best to accommodate her, but on his birthday, Xiaoqi took better care of Xie Yang, which made Yun Feiche feel aggrieved.

Yun Feimiao was only four years old at that time. He was not very sensible, but he was sensitive to everyone's emotions.

He felt that his fourth brother was unhappy, so he ran to Yun Feiche and hugged him.

"Fourth brother, you must be happy on your birthday today."

Yun Feiche's face lit up with a smile: "Yeah, I'm happy now."

Yun Feimiao immediately breathed a sigh of relief, then reached out a hand and grabbed Xie Yang.

"If Fourth Brother is unhappy, just tell me. Afeng and I will be with you."

Yun Feiche: “…”

Help! He started to feel upset again.

Although he was upset, after lunch, Yun Feiche still took Xiaoqi and called other brothers and sisters to go out for a snowball fight.

As for Xie Yang, Yun Feimiao had been holding him back.

While playing snowball fights, a group of little kids all wanted to throw snowballs at Xie Yang, but they just thought about it. Looking at Xie Yang's thin body, no one could really do it.

Yun Feiyin even muttered to Yun Feizhuo, "Brother, is he really six years old? He's so small, even a little shorter than Xiaoqi."

Yun Feizhuo patted the snowflakes off his body and whispered, "It's too small, so don't rush around when you're near him."

"You're like a little calf, easily hurting people."

"How can I be as much of a cow as my second brother?" Yun Feiyin compared his legs. "His legs are not even as long as mine. I'm mainly afraid of stepping on him."
