The thunderstorm came and went quickly, but the rain didn't stop; it continued to drizzle. The London sunset shone through gaps in the clouds, brightening the sky a little, but it was still not as dazzling as car headlights.
Shi Youxi stopped a few steps away from Mu Yiran, silently watching her, as if waiting for her to answer him.
The two were locked in a silent contest. After a few seconds, Shi Youxi slowly reached out to her, "Sister, come back with me."
"..."
Mu Yiran blinked and glanced behind her. The men wearing sunglasses, whose origins were unknown, blocked her and Candice's escape route. Even if Candice knocked down a few, more men would come to block her way. Their goal was simply to wait for Candice to be exhausted so they could leave.
It's easy to imagine who these people are.
It's no surprise that she has no way to escape.
The escape was over before it even began.
Mu Yiran was speechless and indignant. The more she thought about it, the angrier she became. When she saw the thick powder that had melted under Shi Youxi's feet, her anger flared even more.
She shook her head at Shi Youxi: "No! Do I want to be locked up again if I go back?"
“I didn’t intend to lock you up.” Shi Youxi’s expression darkened as he watched her back away. “I wouldn’t have locked you up if you hadn’t run away. You promised me that first, you swore an oath first.”
Even though it was a perfunctory response, Shi Youxi still believed her. He was secretly pleased and planned to get rid of all the people who were spying on her. Shi Youxi knew she was soft-hearted, and he was indeed despicable, wanting to use this to gain a reward and credit.
He just wanted to make her happy, to stop avoiding him so much, and to just stay by his side. That way, Shi Youxi would find a way to gradually get her used to him and their relationship.
But when he received the news that she had run away with another man, Shi Youxi laughed at his own stupidity.
He was imagining all sorts of futures for them, while she was thinking about running away from him.
“It’s okay that my sister always lied to me before, I can overlook it, but not this time, she has to come back with me.”
Shi Youxi took a step forward and stood in front of her, his eyes filled with undisguised obsession and madness. He was trapped by the woman's face projected in his pupils. Once that face disappeared, everything that was imprisoned in his body would break free.
“How do you want to hold a grudge? Shi Youxi, I’ve done everything I promised you. I owe you nothing. I am my own person, and only I have the right to decide my own fate. You can’t lock me up!”
Mu Yiran, having given up all hope, saw that Shi Youxi was not backing down at all, and began to go crazy: "If you want to insist on swearing an oath, there's nothing I can do. I swear to the heavens, so if you have the guts, let the heavens strike me dead!"
"...You'd rather die than come back with me?" Shi Youxi let out a deep, mocking laugh. "Very well, then there's nothing more to say."
Before Mu Yiran could run away, the man had already wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her forward sharply, her forehead slamming heavily into his hard chest.
Mu Yiran's forehead was both sore and wet. When she realized what was happening, she raised her hand to grab Shi Youxi's face, but Shi Youxi had already anticipated her movements and easily grabbed both of her wrists with one hand, pinning them to her lumbar spine.
This position forced Mu Yiran to lift her head and thrust her chest forward, directly pressing against the man's chest. Both of their clothes were wet, and in this position, they could feel each other's body temperature.
In front of so many people...
Mu Yiran's face flushed instantly, and she gritted her teeth: "Shi Youxi!"
"Shi Youxi, let her go!" Candice kicked away the people around him, snatched the switchblade from one of them, and flipped his finger to aim at Shi Youxi.
Shi Youxi took a step back with Mu Yiran, coldly watching Candice approach, her eyes filled with deep mockery.
It was this unspoken mockery that enraged Candice.
He promised to help Ran leave, and he can't not even do this small thing!
Shi Youxi came alone; as long as we stall him before the Shi Clan arrives...
The bodyguards sent by Stuart recognized the young master of the Shimen family and dared not make a move. They could only watch as Candice recklessly attacked the other party, and even nearly injured the woman trapped between the two several times.
Shi Youxi gripped Mu Yiran's shoulder blades, and as Candice approached, the ferocity in his eyes grew stronger. He released his grip and pulled Mu Yiran behind him, giving him no time to dodge the oncoming blade.
Having been briefly freed, Mu Yiran saw Candice recklessly brandishing his knife at Shi Youxi. Just as she was about to stop him, in the instant their eyes met, she suddenly understood what Candice meant.
It's not late, it's incredibly fast!
Mu Yiran took off running!
The car can't be driven, and we don't know where it's going, but if we don't drive it now, we might not have another chance.
Mu Yiran did not turn around.
She knew that with Shi Youxi's abilities, he wouldn't get hurt, and with the Stuart family around, he wouldn't actually lay a hand on Candice.
"Bang!"
"candice!"
That was… a gunshot?!
Mu Yiran turned around and saw the scene, which made her tremble all over.
The bodyguards who were originally blocking Candice's back had now surrounded Candice in a hugging manner, but they were hesitant to get too close to her because of something they were afraid of.
Everyone was doing the same thing.
He pointed his gun at Shi Youxi, who stood alone in front of him.
Shi Youxi lowered his arm, aiming the delicate pistol at Candice, who was kneeling on the ground.
“Mr. Xi! We have no intention of fighting you!” The middle-aged man leading the bodyguards said warily to Shi Youxi.
“Candice was in the wrong for slashing you, but you fought back. I want this to end here. This is London. A gunfight in the streets won’t do either of us any good!”
Shi Youxi slowly raised his eyes, his gaze sweeping over the countless dark gun holes in front of him, before slowly and precisely landing on Mu Yiran outside the crowd. It seemed that what threatened his life was not the countless guns in front of him that could turn him into a sieve at any moment, but her.
All it takes is an unarmed Mu Yiran to take Shi Youxi's life.
At that time, Mu Yiran had this absurd idea pop into her head.
Mu Yiran saw Candice clutching her bleeding right arm, yet still yelling for her to leave. He tried to pick up the knife from the ground, but suddenly felt a chill on his forehead.
Shi Youxi tilted the gun tip slightly, pressing it against Candice's forehead. His eyes were fixed on Mu Yiran, but he was speaking to someone else: "It's just a scratch, but it might not be the same next time."
He asked Mu Yiran expressionlessly, "Still running?"
"You take one step, I fire one shot."
“…”
The man's calm and indifferent voice revealed no brutality in his words; it was as bland and ordinary as discussing the aftermath of a storm.
It chilled everyone to the bone.
No one dared to speak, because everyone knew that the future leader of the Time Gate was not joking.
Mu Yiran also knew.
Candice's blood had soaked the entire sleeve, and the viscous liquid made Mu Yiran feel suffocated.
Even though she was so far away and so safe, she suddenly felt like she was the lamb to the slaughter under that gun.
They were helpless, with no chance of survival and no power to fight back.
"Don't listen to him! Ran, you run! Shi Youxi, if you have the guts, just kill me! Don't try to use me to threaten her!"
Candice fearlessly pressed her head against the wall, causing the bodyguard next to her to break out in a cold sweat.
He's about to lose his life and he's still provoking people!
Are you really that eager to die?
"Oh god! Candice, please shut up!"
"Open fire! Shoot me! Kill me!"
“…”
Shi Youxi ignored the Englishman's nonsense; he was simply waiting for Mu Yiran to give him an answer.
He actually knew what the outcome would be, but he had lost patience.
So he tilted the gun and fired the bullet with a "bang" from below Candice's ear.
The deafening roar silenced Candice as a stray bullet struck his bodyguard behind him, eliciting a scream of pain.
Shi Youxi smiled, just like when she used to hug Mu Yiran and act coquettishly, and said, "Sister?"
Mu Yiran closed her eyes, feeling dizzy, and said dryly without hesitation, "...I'll go back with you."
"Don't go with him—"
As soon as he finished speaking, Shi Youxi swung his hand down, and Candice's head lolled to the side as he fell limply to the ground.
"candice!"
Mu Yiran ran up to see the man being carried away, but her wrist was grabbed and she was pulled into the car by Shi Youxi.
"What did you do to him! I already said I was going with you! Why did you still hit him—" The seatbelt in front of her chest was tightly locked, and the man pressed down on her, face to face, their breaths mingling. Mu Yiran turned her face to try to avoid him, but her chin was grabbed.
“What can I do to him? He hit me so many times, and I only hit him twice back. What can I do? I just knocked him out, otherwise my sister would run off with him again, right?”
"Just like in the apartment, we ran hand in hand!"
In the confined space, Shi Youxi no longer concealed his violence, staring intently at her, as if he could devour Mu Yiran at any moment.
Did he kiss you?
Mu Yiran froze and did not answer him.
As he pressed his fingertips against the woman's soft, red petals, Shi Youxi thought of the footage from the elevator surveillance camera: his sister nestled in another man's arms, making no attempt to hide her desire for his kiss, just like a pair of lovers.
But what about yourself?
Jealousy made his chest heave violently, and Shi Youxi lowered his head and kissed him fiercely.
"Shi Youxi! No—Shi—" Mu Yiran shook her head to avoid him, but was then turned around by having her head pinned back.
Mu Yiran grabbed his hair and pulled it back forcefully, "No!"
The man raised his head slightly, his lips were cut and blood was flowing out, and his scalp was in excruciating pain, but none of it hurt as much as when he saw the resistance and fear in her eyes.
"...Why, why can he do it, but I can't?"
Mu Yiran's mouth tasted of rust, and tears welled up in her eyes. She didn't know if it was from pain or fear, but she gritted her teeth and stubbornly refused to listen.
"Anyone will do, but you... just not!"
“…”
"...Is that so?" Shi Youxi stared at her for a few seconds with a tense face, then sat back in the driver's seat. Without giving Mu Yiran any time to react, the sports car sped off, the powerful recoil pressing Mu Yiran tightly against the back of the seat.
She was so scared she wanted to scream, but stubbornly bit her lip and kept quiet.
The deep roar of the sports car grew louder and louder, and her chest felt as if it could no longer bear the violent throbbing of her heart. It was like a needle aimed at an increasingly inflated balloon; once punctured, it would cause excruciating pain.
"Shi Youxi, I'm scared..." she whispered.
Shi Youxi released the accelerator and stopped the car. He then carried Mu Yiran, who was so frightened that she had closed her eyes, out of the car.
When the darkness in her vision dissipated and everything became clear, Mu Yiran was able to see where they were.
This isn't in an apartment; this is the first impression.
At first glance, Mu Yiran saw an iron cage in the middle, with "her" inside looking at her from afar.
The cage was open, and Shi Youxi carried her straight there.
