Chapter 45 Mango Sago Pudding Art Exhibition

Chapter 45 Mango Sago Pudding Art Exhibition

We finally arrived at the art museum.

The art exhibition ends today, and since it happens to be Christmas, there were quite a few people visiting.

However, there's no need to worry about getting lost.

Akina Amako glanced at the two of them and said, "From now on, we need to keep our voices down so as not to disturb others from appreciating the paintings."

"Also, you can walk around and see what you want to see. There's no need to stay together all the time. We can meet up at the entrance in an hour."

Gong You and Gong Zhi both nodded and followed her into the art museum.

Gong You looked around curiously; he really... well, he didn't quite understand these paintings.

Upon closer inspection, he realized the painting was Impressionist and he could indeed understand what it depicted, but what was the meaning behind it? He couldn't figure it out, so he could only glance at the painting and move on.

Without realizing it, he had already turned left, wanting to see more.

When I saw the next painting depicting the sunrise, I couldn't help but widen my eyes—although I didn't know exactly what the emotion was, I could feel the awe-inspiring beauty in that instant.

This is probably what art is.

He couldn't help but slow down a little. Although he had only said that he was accompanying Amako Akina to see the paintings, he unconsciously wanted to learn more about Amako Akina and also wanted to observe the paintings more closely.

On the other side, Miyaji tilted his head slightly, somewhat unable to understand.

Before me was an abstract painting, the flesh-colored, block-like structure forming the human body, and the human figures in the painting... looked like they were dancing?

This was indeed a heartwarming painting. He then looked at the one next to him, which was an ordinary portrait composed of geometric lines. It was very abstract, and he could hardly understand it.

"If I were to paint this kind of picture, I could do it too," he muttered to himself, glancing back to make sure no one had heard him before letting out a sigh of relief.

If people found out he had expressed such an opinion, well... it would definitely cause dissatisfaction among others, Miyaji thought.

Since I don't understand art, I shouldn't make any random judgments.

Akina Amaho parted ways with them, heading straight to the center of the art exhibition, where works by emerging artists were on display.

When she looks at those works, she is not only absorbing inspiration and growing, but also competing with herself.

Although—if you learn haphazardly, you'll only be able to imitate others in the end, without any of your own creative abilities.

So she was just trying to understand what other people thought.

After viewing the paintings by the emerging artists on display, she nodded and turned to walk towards the Impressionist painting exhibition.

Miyako happened to be at the very end of the line when she saw Akina Amaho approaching and paused, asking, "Amaho, shall we go look at the other works first?"

Akina Amane nodded: "Yes, you can go and take a look, but I don't think you'll be very interested. However, Impressionist paintings are relatively easier to understand."

As she spoke, she tucked a stray lock of hair behind her ear.

“After all, Impressionism… can directly express the emotions of that moment.” As she spoke, she looked up and saw a painting depicting a sunrise hanging on the wall.

"Indeed, I was so shocked when I saw the painting. I never knew art could do something so cool." Gong You nodded; that was his impression.

Well... aside from that, the only thing he thought when he saw these paintings was that they were beautiful.

Akina Amazuki smiled slightly, her eyes crinkling: "Yes, some painters' works are even more breathtaking."

She had also seen paintings like those before.

After exchanging a few words, the two parted ways. Miyako walked in the direction that Amaho Akina had just left, while Amaho Akina went to look at the Impressionist paintings.

The paintings in the museum didn't seem to have changed much; they were the same as those displayed when I visited six months ago.

After looking at them, Akina Amane turned and headed towards the area displaying Picasso paintings.

Ah, is this painting, Picacia's "Dance of Spring," also displayed here?

Akina Amane saw the warm, bright color and was slightly surprised.

Miyaji also walked over at this moment, saw Amaho Akina's figure, and walked towards her.

Miyaji: "What exactly makes this painting so beautiful?"

He was genuinely curious, since the painting didn't depict any specific figures or scenes; it was simply a collection of two figures made up of blocks of color.

"This is avant-garde, I think it should be considered a kind of cubism. It's not that it's particularly beautiful, it just conveys a warm spirit of spring, just like the author's own feelings and expectations," Akina Amami explained.

Gong Zhi didn't seem to understand quite well, but when he looked at the painting again, he did feel a slight sense of lightness because of the colors and the inexplicable movements in the dance.

"Then... what about those paintings?" Miyaji pointed to several Picasso paintings hanging on the back wall.

"What makes his paintings so amazing? Why are they so famous? If it were me, I should be able to paint them too."

He asked while crossing his arms.

Well, if I could do that myself, I might even be able to make money with those paintings.

Akina Amane simply chuckled and shook her head: "The reason he's so amazing is because he successfully transformed three-dimensional art into two-dimensional art. His paintings are all based on three-dimensional observation, which he then converts into two-dimensional representations."

"Therefore, the prerequisite for completing those paintings is a mastery of three-dimensional painting techniques. If someone is not familiar with painting... there is a high probability that they cannot do it."

After hearing Amaho Akina's explanation, Miyaji was stunned for a moment, and then looked at the paintings again, and it seemed that it was indeed the case.

“There are many people who don’t like Picasso’s paintings and can’t understand them. Although he is very famous, there are still a lot of people who can’t understand his work,” Akina Amasui added.

"As for me, I'm just looking at the paintings; I don't really like them." She looked up at the paintings, then lowered her head again, clearly uninterested.

"So that's how it is." Gong Zhi said thoughtfully.

"Art is indeed difficult to understand," he sighed.

“That’s the beauty of art, isn’t it? The most wonderful moment is when you understand it and empathize with the author’s feelings.” Akina Ama shrugged.

This is also why she sometimes likes to come to art exhibitions; if she can see a painting she likes, that would be even better.

Some paintings possess only formal beauty but lack soul, while others possess soul, yet the artist's expression of it is not so perfect.

The two stopped talking, and Miyaji thought to himself that he still couldn't understand the meaning of these paintings.

But at that moment, when I saw Minna's painting, I inexplicably felt the strong emotions expressed in it.

He walked thoughtfully to the other side, while Amaho Akina went deeper into the area.

The three met up at the entrance an hour later.

Gong You let out a slight sigh: "I didn't expect the art exhibition to end so quickly."

He thought it would take even longer; now, there are still several hours until dinner time.

“Since we’re already here, and there’s another exhibition hall next door, let’s go check it out. It’s also an art exhibition, and I heard it just opened today,” said Akina Amasui.

She saw it on a sign after she arrived here; it said there was an exhibition of works by emerging artists next door, featuring winning entries from a previous competition.

“Those are all contemporary painters,” she said as she led the way.

"As for contemporary painters... like Mina, shouldn't their paintings also be shown to others?" Miyaji pondered for a moment before raising this question.

"Well, my work isn't at the level to compete yet, but I think there will be opportunities to exhibit it in the future."

Akina Amane thought about the situation. She had never actually signed up for a competition before, and she was always afraid that her skill level wouldn't be up to par and that she would waste the competition fee.

Moreover, some competitions are predetermined.

“Then Mina must hold a solo art exhibition in the future. Aji and I will both go to see it.” Miya Yu came forward and stood next to Mina.

"And it would be best if all the paintings I've depicted were also displayed." He said, becoming excited again.

"Is it to show yourself... so that everyone can know you?" Akina Amami tilted her head slightly, not quite understanding.

“That’s just how Yu is, always looking for fame. Don’t bother with him.” Miyaji shrugged and stepped forward, standing on the other side of Amaho Akina.

"I'm not doing this for fame, I'm doing it so everyone can see Mina's hard work," Miya Yu pouted.

His reason for doing this was simply for Amaho Akina.

“Yu, sometimes people don’t care how hard you work, they only care about your visible achievements.” Akina Amami turned to look at Yu.

They had already entered the exhibition hall by then.

Akina Ama pointed to one of the paintings: "When you see these paintings, do you think about how much effort they put in and how much time they spent to complete them?"

Gong You honestly shook his head.

Well... this isn't a volleyball match, so even if you work hard to improve, it might not be seen by anyone.

Gong You fell silent for no apparent reason.

“So, if I show those sketches… people probably won’t care that much, and besides, I don’t want to be seen as someone who works hard.” Akina Amami shrugged.

“However, if I ever have a solo art exhibition, I will definitely paint a separate oil painting for each of you.” Her expression was very serious.

At this moment, Miyaji suddenly spoke up: "Akina, if we don't show it, how will you know what others will say?"

He did not agree with what Akina Amaho had just said.

Akina Amane was a little stunned. She hesitated for a second before saying, "After all... most people who come to the art exhibition are just looking at it casually, right? They probably don't care much about the sketches."

“No, Mina, let’s display all the paintings, just for us,” Miyako said, joining in, completely shaking off her earlier dejected state.

“Because, Mina is walking towards tomorrow with us step by step.” He said, a carefree smile on his face, his eyes bright, through which Mina could see her own reflection.

"If they really don't care, they won't care what paintings you exhibit."

She closed her eyes, and sure enough, she couldn't win against them; in fact, she was even persuaded by them.

Perhaps, the person who has such thoughts is, to some extent, insecure and afraid of being judged by others, which is why they want to display only their best paintings.

Anyone would have this thought.

But behind the praise, perhaps... showcasing one's own growth is also a good idea.

This feeling isn't bad either.

Akina Amaho nodded, took the hands of the two of them, and walked into the building.

"Okay, then, you can all come with me to see the rest of the art exhibition."
