Chapter 29 Tempura Shrimp - That's Just a Rumor
The three of them naturally walked together to the school gate, and then went in two different directions.
Akina Amazu returned home, and after having dinner, she sat down at her easel again, picked up her paintbrush, and continued to sketch the oil painting.
Hmm, it looks like I can probably finish drawing it today.
However, this painting is not very convenient to carry around. I'll tell them it's a gift from me when they come to my house on the weekend.
Meanwhile, Miyako and Miyaji went to train as usual.
The next day when she came to school, she felt, whether it was her imagination or not, that someone was secretly watching her and that someone was whispering to her as she passed by.
But by the time Amaho Akina got close to them, the people had already moved away.
Akina Amane sat in her seat, not quite understanding what was going on.
But she didn't know anyone in her class, so of course she couldn't ask anyone else.
"Never mind, I'll ask them again when I'm with them at noon," Amako Akina sighed.
After a quick morning of classes, which were not difficult, Akina Amami organized her notes and then went to the rooftop with her drawing board and lunchbox.
To her surprise, Gong You and Gong Zhi arrived at the rooftop first.
There was a seat left in the middle, clearly reserved for her. Amamiya walked over naturally and sat down.
She was a little puzzled as to why the two people were so quiet today, but after looking at the expressions on their faces, she understood.
Why do these two both look so conflicted and troubled?
Thinking this, Amaho Akina naturally asked, "What's wrong with you guys?"
Gong You's body stiffened for a moment, not expecting that Mina would act as if nothing had happened.
Or is it that she actually has no idea what happened?
He asked, "Minnai, do you usually read the campus forum?"
Gong You would occasionally glance at it, probably just to satisfy a sense of novelty, and then forget about it afterward.
But when he logged onto the campus forum yesterday, he happened to see it—about them and Akina Amaho.
How could such a rumor exist? They and Amaho Akina are not in that kind of relationship.
Not yet, at least not now.
Akina Amane tilted her head: "I don't care. I'm not interested in these rumors."
So, the issue they're struggling with is related to the campus forum?
With that in mind, she opened her phone and awkwardly typed in a website address.
"I don't care. I'd rather focus on what to have for dinner tonight." Gong Zhi shrugged.
If Rintaro Kakuna hadn't shown himself the large headline on his phone early that morning, Miyaji probably wouldn't have known.
"Hmm... what's the URL?" I entered it but got a 404 error page. It was obvious that I entered the wrong URL.
Akina Amako looked at Yuu Miyako with a troubled expression.
"You can just look at my phone, it's this." Gong You sighed. Knowing that Tian Suimingna was unaware of this, he didn't really want her to see it.
However, he felt that this matter should be left to Mina's discretion.
Gong You took out his phone and opened the campus forum page. The title of the post at the top was "Shocking! A girl is dating two volleyball team members at the same time."
Amane Akina blinked, clicked to read, and it seemed to be talking about herself, but she felt... well, this title was just made up, right?
They're just ordinary friends.
Akina Amako handed the phone back: "So? What's wrong with this kind of message?"
She seemed completely unaffected. If other girls saw this topic, they would probably be a little panicked.
Gong You was somewhat surprised: "This post is about us, and there are so many speculations. Won't Mina be a little troubled when she sees it?"
In any case, if this kind of news gets out, it will probably have some impact on daily life.
And... and it's just this kind of speculation, doesn't Mina have any other thoughts?
Akina Amane shrugged: "But most of the news is just embellishment and rumors, right? It's not the truth at all. If you care about these things and try to prove yourself, you'll just get caught in a vortex of accusations."
After all, some people become even more convinced that the person involved did these things and that's why they're making excuses after seeing the person involved come forward to prove that they didn't do them.
It's better to say nothing and wait for the hype to die down naturally.
Miyaji was surprised that Mina would say that. He wasn't particularly concerned about this kind of news, but he breathed a slight sigh of relief after being made worried by Miyayu's flustered behavior.
Miyayu was initially worried that Amaho Akina might be greatly affected after seeing this news.
However, Minnai didn't react much; they were already used to not saying anything.
Gong You pursed his lips.
“However, if this news comes out, Mina might be harassed by others at school,” Miyaji added.
He wasn't worried about Mina's mental state, but he was worried that she might stumble upon something else.
“That’s alright. In fact, some people are afraid to make a move if they don’t know me.” Akina Amami shook her head.
Anyway, she doesn't usually like to have much contact with those classmates, which is actually a good thing.
At most, it's just a few idle words.
Gong You and Gong Zhi exchanged a glance.
"For now, Mina should continue coming to the volleyball club. We'll take you home after we're done," Miyaji said.
"Yeah, let's wait until the post gets less popular before we talk about it. It wouldn't be good if someone caused trouble during this time." Gong You scratched his head, his golden hair becoming a little messy.
After all, Akina Amaho wants to be an art student, and it would be very bad if her hand got injured.
“I don’t think you need to worry so much… I’ve always gone home alone all these years, and nothing has ever happened to me.”
Akina Amaho smiled helplessly.
In elementary school, I would walk home with classmates, but by junior high, I was walking home all alone.
Gong You became even more determined to send Mina home.
After all, there was a hint of melancholy in her voice when she said those words.
Besides, it was on their way home anyway, they just turned in different directions at the last intersection.
"No, if anything happens to you, we'll regret it to death." Gong You shook his head.
“You don’t need to worry like this…” Amaho Akina felt that this situation was a bit tricky.
But with both of them staring intently at her, she felt too embarrassed to open her lunchbox.
“Besides, Mina would be happy to go home with her friends, right?” Miyaji said.
"..." Akina Amako stared at Miyaji for a moment.
Well, she was actually a little tempted by that reason.
She admitted that she was convinced.
With a sigh, Akina Amane said, "Alright then, but once the post's popularity dies down, you won't have to stick with me anymore."
Fortunately, the oil painting was already finished. Next, all that was left was to prepare a gift for Miyaji, which would be three or four sketches.
"Don't worry." Gong You clenched his fist and patted his chest.
The three of them finally quieted down and started eating.
Today, Akina Amaho prepared tempura shrimp as a snack, and her main dish was also tempura shrimp. In addition, there was some broccoli, white rice, and corn kernels.
It looks like a normal meal.
It might be a little inconvenient to pick this up with chopsticks, so Akina Amaho hesitated for a moment.
She said, "Well, you two can each take a fried shrimp and go."
Using your own chopsticks always feels a bit awkward, so it's best not to do it.
Although she didn't know the specific reason, Akina Amaho had a strong intuition.
“In that case, Mina, you can also take a piece of fried pork cutlet,” Miyaji said, taking a tempura shrimp from Mina’s lunchbox.
Their lunch today was another tonkatsu (fried pork cutlet) rice bowl. Although it was delicious, it felt a bit monotonous compared to Amaho Akina's lunch.
"Then I won't be polite." Akina Ama used her chopsticks to pick up a smaller piece of fried pork cutlet.
She can't eat more than that.
Just as she was picking up a fried pork cutlet, Gong You reached over with his chopsticks, grabbed a tempura, and stuffed it into his mouth. His mouth was still bulging, and his voice sounded a little muffled.
“Minna, take a piece from my side too, don’t just take one from Osamu.”
Although he didn't know what he was comparing at this moment, there was clearly nothing to compare.
But seeing Mina and Ichi so close together made him very unhappy.
Akina Amane made a "hmm" sound and took a roughly the same size fried pork cutlet from Yu's lunchbox.
Hmm, I hope I didn't overeat at lunch today, she thought somewhat inappropriately.
"It feels so good to exchange food." She squinted her eyes with a hint of enjoyment and stuffed a piece of fried pork cutlet into her mouth.
After all, she had previously been the one to unilaterally distribute snacks and the like to the two of them, which could be considered a different kind of modeling compensation.
Now she can eat with peace of mind; that's how friends should be.
“Yes, I hope the lunch I bring tomorrow can be divided like this too,” Miyaji said.
If it's something like curry rice, it's not easy to share with Akina Amami.
"Then let's go home and ask Mom to make a different kind of bento," Gong You suggested.
After all, they didn't prepare their own lunches. If they wanted a different lunch, they would have to discuss it with their mother.
“Okay, I’m really looking forward to what tomorrow’s lunch will be like.” Akina Amami smiled.
The three of them had lunch together, and as their lunch break was about to end, they returned to their respective classes.
The girl from yesterday looked somewhat familiar to Amamiya. Now, she stood awkwardly next to Amamiya's desk.
"Um... I'm sorry, I just mentioned something that Tianhui talked to me about yesterday when I was chatting with someone, and I don't know why it ended up on the campus forum and caused such a stir."
She did look very guilty.
Akina Amako stared at her intently for a moment.
She didn't really care about such things, but her expression still turned indifferent.
After all, this incident not only caused trouble for her, but also for her friends.
"If possible, please don't gossip about your classmates to others next time. I'll forgive you this time," she said.
After all, the incident has already happened, and holding her accountable afterward is somewhat like hindsight.
The girl gave a slight bow and ran back to her seat.
Akina Amane knew this, but she couldn't stop it. People were talking badly about her without her knowledge; after all, there will always be people who don't like her.
But she doesn't like to make a big deal out of things.
Sigh... Don't those people have anything better to do? Do they think their grades are already so good that they don't need to worry about anything else?
Occasionally, Akina Amami would still feel that she didn't really understand other people.
Never mind.
She picked up the textbook she would use for the next class, quickly flipped through it to preview the material, and prepared for class.
