Chapter 65: Being a bitch again, huh?

"Hi~, Lawyer Hua," he stretched out his right hand, "Mo Chi, don't you remember me?"

"..." Hua Qi was even more confused. He frowned slightly and searched for this unfamiliar face in his memory.

Fu Jiusi raised her long leg and kicked him on the butt. "Did you bring the things?"

Hua Qi understood, it turned out to be his friend!

Looking at it this way, the two of them seem to have a similar temperament.

Haha...birds of a feather flock together.

Mo Chi rubbed his butt and turned around, taking out a transparent plastic bag from his trouser pocket and giving it to him.

I couldn't see clearly what was inside.

Fu Jiusi waved his hand, signaling him to leave.

"I traveled over 2,500 kilometers overnight to see you, and you won't even let me take a look at you?" Mo Chi reached out and took off his mask.

Fu Jiusi grabbed his wrist and shook it off, slowly uttering a word, "Get lost."

"We've been busy all night trying to get here, so I'll take a break first." Mo Chi said, lying down beside him.

Fu Jiusi sat up with a look of disgust on his face, "You're being a bitch again, aren't you?"

Mo Chi chuckled, deliberately hugged his waist, and said in a low voice, "What's wrong, Brother Ren?"

"Didn't we often take a bath and sleep together before?"

"Get out!" Fu Jiusi got goosebumps all over his body and jumped off the bed.

Facing Hua Qi's eyes that looked like he was watching a play, he felt a little helpless and said, "Don't make the mistake..."

"No need to explain," Hua Qi raised his hand to interrupt him, "I understand."

Fu Jiusi: "..."

Seeing him get humiliated for the first time, Hua Qi couldn't hide the secret joy in her heart.

Fu Jiusi pressed forward, pinched her chin and lifted it up, strong and domineering.

He looked into her eyes and explained seriously, "When he said 'before', he meant when he was very young."

Hua Qi shrugged, "Did I say anything?"

"Why are you in such a hurry to explain?"

"Could it be..." She glanced at Mo Chi and asked teasingly, "Is there really a problem?"

Mo Chi looked over with a smile, his peach blossom eyes curved and full of romance and affection.

Fu Jiusi turned around, picked up Mo Chi, and strode out.

Hua Qi suddenly opened his eyes wide, shocked by his powerful arm strength.

The doctor exclaimed, "Your boyfriend is so manly. Do you feel so safe with him?"

Hua Qi retracted his gaze, glanced at the doctor, and his eyes fell on the wound on his wrist.

"Doctor, he is not my boyfriend. Please stop spreading rumors."

The doctor grabbed her other wrist and glanced at the wristband. "You're 26, kid. How come you still don't know how to choose a man?"

"This handsome guy risked his life to suck out the snake venom for you. He rushed to the hospital, his legs so weak he couldn't even stand, but he still wanted to watch us inject you with the serum."

"His eyes were red after he confirmed that you were out of danger!"

"He was poisoned too. He gargled with that potassium permanganate solution and it burned his mouth!"

"He insisted on staying by your bedside even though he needed an IV drip."

"There's no other choice but to add another bed next to you. This room is a single room."

Hua Qi looked around and found that it was indeed the case.

The doctor continued, "You're lucky too!"

"Before, the hospitals in our small area didn't have enough serum, and many people had to wait to die because of this."

"It wasn't until October of the previous year that a very famous old Chinese medicine practitioner was bitten by a bamboo snake. He didn't get serum to save his life in time, so he passed away."

"Her grandson immediately donated money to all local hospitals, demanding that they be equipped with sufficient serum."

"!!!" A cool breeze blew across Hua Qi's back, and he asked in a trembling voice, "What's the name of that old Chinese doctor?"

"Hao Junmei, your medical skills are extraordinary," the doctor gave a thumbs-up, praising her with admiration. "She's known as the modern-day Hua Tuo!"

Hua Qi burst into tears.

The doctor was frightened. "What's wrong with you?"

Fu Jiusi walked in and was slightly startled to see her crying like this.

He walked quickly to the bedside and held her in his arms.

He gave the doctor a look, signaling her to leave.

The doctor nodded fearfully and turned away.

Fu Jiusi stood by the bed, holding her and accompanying her quietly.

Tears soaked his T-shirt little by little, and the poor little thing in his arms began to twitch uncontrollably.

He sighed, put his hands in front of her mouth and nose, and guided her to take a deep breath.

After she recovered, Fu Jiusi took out a tissue and wiped her tears. "What happened suddenly?"

Hua Qi raised her eyes, her red and swollen eyes filled with heartache, "Where's my phone?"

"I was in a hurry this morning and didn't bring my phone with me," Fu Jiusi took out his phone and handed it to him, "Use mine."

Hua Qi took it, skillfully pressed a string of numbers and dialed it.

After three rings, the call was connected. "Hello, this is Zuo Chuan from the Imperial Capital Procuratorate."

"Sixth brother, why are you..." Hua Qi choked with a sour feeling in his throat.

There was silence on the other end of the line for two seconds. "Xiao Qi?"

"You...changed your number?"

Hua Qi cleared her throat and said, "Grandma died from a poisonous snake bite. Why did you lie to me?!"

There was silence on the phone for a while. "Who told you that? That's not true."

Hua Qi's tears rolled down her cheeks.

"My grandmother started studying medicine at the age of 7. She was always surrounded by herbs day and night. Snakes would avoid her. How could she possibly be bitten?"

"Grandma must have been..."

She couldn't utter the word "murder".

Just the appearance of it in her mind made her heart ache.

Zuo Chuan sighed, "Xiao Qi, stop overthinking. Grandma just had a heart attack."

"Zuo Chuan!" Hua Qi yelled, "How long are you going to lie to me?"
