Chapter 199: Breaking off relations (1/2)

Chapter 199: Cutting off relations

As the two were talking, Qiu Yi hurried in and reported, "Madam Peng, the young master wants to sever ties with Mr. Xie."

"What?" Mrs. Peng stood up.

Cut off ties? Shen Heng was surprised. How serious was it?

The two of them hurried to the study, where Master Meng and his wife were standing outside with helpless expressions on their faces. Their son had grown up now and had his own ideas, and they could do nothing to persuade him. Whenever they tried to persuade him, he would go against them. The second and third wives had tried to persuade them before, but it seemed like this rebellious son had offended all his uncles and aunts.

They are so successful in the business world, but when they get home they can do nothing in front of their sons.

A servant brought over a mat.

The other servant held a dagger in his hand.

"Sir, the dagger and mat have been brought." The servant reported to the study.

Chen Heng looked at everything in front of her and thought, damn, breaking up a relationship is so ritualistic.

"Xie Jian, I must have been blind to consider you a confidant." Meng Xuanlang's sobbing voice could be heard from inside: "A true man does not betray his innocent heart. Look at how you usually interact with those people, flattering and trying to curry favor. You are ashamed of your own body."

"Meng Xuanlang, today we are going to talk about how you offended the Dali Temple Minister." Xie Jian's voice was as cold as ever.

She paused in her sobbing, then continued, "So what if I've offended someone? Those people in the Dali Temple are always shirking responsibility, exaggerating, and covering up their crimes. They're always acting like petty people. It's ridiculous that no one in the entire Censorate dares to speak out and expose their evil."

"So what? Can't you just watch? You have to step up. You're just a small official of the Censorate. Impeaching a fourth-rank official is just creating trouble out of nothing."

"Making trouble out of nothing? Yeah, how could you be so wicked as to associate yourself with Tang Zixing from the Dali Temple and become corrupt? Xie Jian, you really disappoint me."

"What nonsense are you talking about?"

"I'm talking nonsense? Why would you have such a pleasant conversation with such a person? Tang Zixing and the Shaoqing of the Dali Temple are in cahoots." Meng Xuanlang's voice became louder and louder.

The next moment, the study door opened.

Meng Xuanlang pulled Xie Jian out and pointed at the mats the servants had placed on the ground. "We are different and cannot work together. Xie Jian, I am severing ties with you. From now on, we are no longer friends."

Meng's father and mother were anxious beside him.

"Why is he getting more and more excited the more he talks?" Mrs. Peng beside him was also anxious: "This man is angry, what can we do?"

Chen Heng looked at the two young men with a headache. She really couldn't tell Meng Xuanlang clearly about what happened between Xie Jian and Tang Zixing.

"Do you really want to break off all ties with me?" Xie Jian asked coldly.

"Yes." Meng Xuanlang's eyes were still filled with tears because of his sadness. "I have made up my mind. No matter what you say, I will never waver."

"I have nothing to say."

"Okay, okay, I misjudged you." Meng Xuanlang said to the servant holding the dagger: "Give him the dagger."

"It's you who wants to break up with me, so do it yourself." Xie Jian refused.

"Why should I do this? It's obviously you who did the wrong thing."
