Chapter 101 The plan to reorganize the entire hospital is put on the agenda.

Before Grandma Wu arrived, the village secretary watched the decreasing number of piglets with growing anxiety.

He had originally planned to find a few men from the village to use force to get rid of Qi Niuhua and have someone else raise her.

Just then, Grandma Wu arrived.

The villagers have no way to deal with Qi Niuhua, but the city people might have a solution.

Sure enough, when he learned that Qi Niuhua's wrist had been broken by Old Lady Wu, he was actually happy.

We've finally met a woman who can cure Qi Niuhua.

This has even motivated the villagers to work harder, which he hadn't expected.

With pig farming on track, the work in the pigsty became less demanding, and with the help of the Huang brothers, Huang Xiaofu and Huang Xiaoqiang, Grandma Wu gradually had more free time.

With more free time, it's time to put the big plan for the yard on the agenda.

After quickly tidying up the yard, I immediately got to raising pigs.

The house and yard are now empty; they're only good for sleeping and eating, and there's nothing else to see or do with them.

There's a vegetable patch in the front yard, but it's past the season for anything else, so we can only plant some scallions and garlic.

The backyard was paved with red bricks only in the direction leading to the back door; the rest was still bare earth. We cleared out a patch, fertilized it, and planted some fruits and vegetables next year for our own consumption.

Grandma Wu first went to the village secretary's house, and the person she was most familiar with in Shanyao Village was Gou Cuifen.

I picked out two boxes of pastries from the mirrored space and stepped into the village secretary's house.

"Mingxia? What brings you here? Perfect timing, I was just thinking of going to see you."

Grandma Wu was taken aback. "Looking for me? What's up?"

Gou Cuifen pulled her to sit down, "I haven't seen you for a while, so I wanted to come and see you."

Grandma Wu smiled warmly, "We really are on the same wavelength, isn't that why I came to see you?"

Only after she spoke did Gou Cuifen notice what was in her hand, and clicked her tongue, "What are you doing with that? I don't want it."

Grandma Wu ignored what she said and put it directly on the table, saying, "I need your help."

"Just say what you need. What are you taking? Take it back right now!"

Grandma Wu didn't move, but instead smiled at her, "Don't I have a vegetable garden in my yard?"

"The area in the front yard?"

Grandma Wu nodded. "To tell you the truth, I have a big appetite. I usually only get half full at the canteen. Now that things are settled down with raising pigs, I'm thinking of having more time to cook at home."

Gou Cuifen gestured with her hand to indicate that she understood.

"But the time to plant vegetables has passed now; nothing will grow if you plant them now."

Grandma Wu smiled and said, "I'll plant those next year. Right now, I just want to plant some scallions, ginger, pickled vegetables, and other seasonings."

Gou Cuifen waved her hand, "That's easy, there are some in my backyard right now. I'll pluck a basket for you when you leave."

Grandma Wu smiled and said, "Since I came, Sister Cuifen has taken good care of me. You must accept these two boxes of pastries, otherwise I won't dare to bother you again."

"Hey! Well, okay, I'll take it."

Grandma Wu left the village secretary's house with a basket of scallions, ginger, and garlic, their roots still covered in soil, completely satisfied.

Just after seeing off Old Lady Wu, Tie Niu returned home. He had just filled a tub with water when he caught sight of the snacks on the table, and his eyes lit up.

"Mom, where did this come from? Did you go to town?"

Gou Cuifen picked up a cloth and carefully wiped his sweaty forehead clean. "The canteen is so busy every day, I don't have time to go to town."

"Where did this come from?"

"Your Aunt Mingxia gave this to you, you can have it."

Upon hearing that it was edible, he immediately untied the rope, looked at the exquisite pastries inside, swallowed hard, picked up a piece and offered it to Gou Cuifen's mouth, saying, "Mom, you eat first."

A deep tenderness welled up in Gou Cuifen's eyes. "You eat it, Mom doesn't like these."

Tie Niu didn't move, but insisted on feeding her a piece before putting one in his own mouth.

"It's delicious. I'll have some first, and I'll save the rest for you and Dad."

Gou Cuifen gently touched Tie Niu's sweaty head, her eyes filled with affection.

The warmth of the village party secretary's home was unknown to Old Lady Wu when she returned home.

Huang Xiaoqiang saw Wu Laotai early in the morning and went to greet her, saying, "Mom, you're back." He then took the basket from Wu Laotai's hands.

Grandma Wu also let go of him casually. Looking at Huang Xiaoqiang, who had a calm expression, Grandma Wu was somewhat dazed.

Noticing that Grandma Wu was staring at him, Huang Xiaoqiang felt a little embarrassed. "Mom, what's wrong? Is there something on my face?"

As he spoke, he reached out and wiped his hand, then opened it to find nothing there.

"No, let's go home and farm."

At this moment, the pent-up resentment in Old Mrs. Wu's heart gradually dissipated.

The past cannot be retrieved; we should look forward to the future.

Vegetables are hard to grow, but scallions, ginger, and garlic are easy. Just plant them directly in the soil and water them.

Looking at the lush green onions, Huang Xiaofu inexplicably felt that the courtyard had come alive with a lively vitality.

Next, Huang Xiaofu patted his chest and took on the task of fertilizing the backyard, saying, "I'll do it."

Grandma Wu gave him a skeptical look. "Can you do it?"

"Yes, of course I can. I've learned a lot about farming from the villagers these days. I can handle the fertilizing."

Huang Xiaoqiang spoke up for him, "Second Brother has changed a lot these days, I think he's good."

Grandma Wu looked at Huang Xiaofu and said seriously, "This vegetable garden is crucial to whether we can grow anything next year, or even grow it well. I'm entrusting it all to you."

This child should be encouraged at appropriate times to promote his positive energy.

Huang Xiaofu looked directly and seriously at Old Lady Wu, "I will not let you down, Mom."

After finishing her story, Old Mrs. Wu rubbed the goosebumps on her arms, thinking, "Why does it sound like I'm handing over a revolutionary mission?"

The lush greenery in the front yard added a touch of life, while the stench in the backyard was overwhelming. Huang Xiaofu had two wads of cotton stuffed in his nostrils, yet he was working with boundless energy.

Looking at the yard, Grandma Wu stroked her chin. She thought, "If I have the chance, I'll go to town and see if there are any flower seeds. I'll plant them all around the walls, inside and outside. When they bloom, they'll be beautiful."

With the issues in the yard mostly resolved, it's time to deal with the things inside the house.

Grandma Wu carried everything out of the mirror space one by one, taking out all the things she had brought from home.

The room wasn't small, but it was empty except for a bed and a cabinet. It wasn't nice to look at, and it made me feel bad, as if it was just a place to spend the night.

As soon as Huang Xiaofu entered the room, he was stunned by the sight of the room being so full. "Where did all these things come from?" he wondered. "Why do they all look so familiar?"

As soon as I stretched out my foot, a thick stack of books blocked my way. I bent down and looked, "Isn't this the collection of quotes from great figures that you made me read when I was little, Mom? How come this is here too?"

Old Mrs. Wu straightened up and said without changing her expression, "Oh, this was mailed to me by your sister-in-law."
