Before Li Jin'e could finish speaking, Huang Mancang ran away in a flash.
He didn't want to hear anything, especially nothing nice.
Huang Xiaofu didn't stay long. After the college students in the village left one after another, he and Tie Niu headed south together.
"Brother Xiaofu, do you think we'll succeed?"
Huang Xiaofu glared at him speechlessly. Is it auspicious to say such things as soon as you step out the door?
"You have money, I have brains, what do you say?"
As their voices faded into the distance, Huang Xiaoguo and Huang Xiaomin exchanged a glance, watching their second son's figure.
"Are they alright?"
"I should be fine... right?"
Time flies, and university life is fulfilling and liberating.
Wenjuan blushed slightly as she looked at the person in front of her. "I'm sorry, something came up at home, so I can't go out with you."
After saying that, he turned and ran away.
They didn't notice the person standing under the shade of the tree behind them at all.
When Wenjuan got home, she put down her backpack and stared in surprise at the person sitting in the living room, "Tie, Tie Niu?"
I hurried forward and saw that it really was him. "What brings you here?"
Tie Niu's expression remained calm, showing no sign of anything amiss.
“You haven’t spoken to Xiaobao on the phone for over a year. He misses you and asked me to come see you.”
A strange look flashed across Wenjuan's face. "Um, I, I'm a bit busy. When I have time, I'll go back to the village to see him."
"Why don't we bring him over? The three of us would be perfect..."
Before Tie Niu could finish speaking, Wen Juan sternly interrupted him, "No!"
"Now that you're here, how am I supposed to explain this to my neighbors? They don't even know I'm married and have a child with a farmer!"
A hint of sarcasm crept across Tie Niu's lips as he lowered his eyelids to conceal the emotions in his eyes.
"Let's get a divorce, I'll grant your wish."
"What?"
Wenjuan was taken aback. "You saw everything?"
Tie Niu gave a bitter laugh, then got up, supporting himself on his knees with his hands. "Alright, you don't need to worry about the kids. I'll take care of them. We won't bother you anymore, don't worry."
She paused at the door, "If you still have any conscience for Xiaobao, go back and see him one more time."
He misses you.
After saying that, he slammed the door shut, leaving Wenjuan standing there, frozen in place.
Tie Niu, looking like he'd lost his soul, staggered back home, where Huang Xiaofu was sitting in the living room watching his younger brother and sister-in-law.
He glanced at the person returning, then at the affectionate couple across the street, and shook his head.
Sigh, there are still differences between people.
The worries of the village party secretary and his wife have come true.
When Huang Xiaoqiang saw Tie Niu return alone, he immediately understood everything.
I wanted to offer some comfort, but I didn't know how to say it.
His situation is not uncommon.
There aren't many couples like him and Gu Qing.
Time heals all wounds.
From then on, Tie Niu took the child with him and worked like a madman, desperately trying to make money, seemingly competing with someone.
After learning about this from Huang Xiaoqiang and Huang Xiaofu, Old Lady Wu could only visit the village secretary and his wife more often.
Tie Niu took the child away and also wanted to take the elderly couple to live in the city, but they refused.
“What’s so great about going to the city? Cuifen and I can’t find it anywhere. It’s better to stay in the village.”
Gou Cuifen's hair was completely white, and her gaze towards Old Lady Wu was unfocused.
“That’s true. My eldest and third sons live in the village. If Sister Cuifen needs anything done, she can just go to them.”
Gou Cuifen laughed heartily upon hearing this, "I know, I know. Over the years, we've been so grateful to them. Otherwise, my husband and I would have no hope for the future."
Grandma Wu smiled. Her only son was away working, and the two elderly people were inevitably lonely. So she often told Huang Xiaoguo and the others to come and visit the village secretary more often.
It seems they did a great job.
Returning to that courtyard, it had changed a lot, with many new things added. Huang Mancang was lying on a rocking chair, his toes swaying slightly, looking very relaxed and carefree.
Wang Huijun had just come out of the kitchen, shaking her wet hands, when she looked up and saw Old Lady Wu standing at the gate of the courtyard. Before the surprise on her face could even show, she had already called out to her.
"mom!"
Huang Mancang was startled by Wang Huijun. He put down the palm-leaf fan that was covering his face, squinted his eyes, and immediately widened his eyes.
He immediately jumped off the rattan chair.
Grandma Wu stared blankly at the doorway.
Grandma Wu smiled slightly as she watched Wang Huijun rushing over. "What's wrong? Why are you so excited?"
Wang Huijun looked Wu up and down several times, opened her mouth several times, but could not say a word except to call her "Mom".
She slapped her thigh and shouted towards the backyard, "Jin'e, Tiaotiao! Mom's back!"
Wang Huijun's loud voice made Old Lady Wu raise an eyebrow. Time is moving forward, and people are changing. Is this still the same Wang Huijun who never dared to speak loudly?
Hearing the commotion, Li Jin'e grabbed her girl and ran outside, her face showing the same surprise.
Grandma Wu's gaze swept over the little girl that Li Jin'e had placed next to her.
It wasn't easy for the third son and his wife to have such a daughter. She wasn't there when she was born, and now she's all grown up.
"Quick, call her Grandma."
Huang Tiaotiao looked Wu Laotai up and down with her bright, watery eyes. Is this Grandma?
No way, he looks like he's from a different generation than the grandpa in the courtyard.
"Mom, are you sure you're not mistaken? This is my grandma, right? No way."
Huang Tiaotiao covered her mouth and leaned close to Li Jin'e's ear, thinking she was speaking very softly, but even Wang Huijun, who was standing two steps away from her, could hear her clearly.
