Chapter 29 Ancestral Graves Emerge with Green Light

It would be better if we didn't talk about it; he gets angry as soon as we bring it up.

What's the situation at home? Doesn't he know? He's still out there pretending to be a rich kid and chasing girls!

He had told Huang Xiaofu before that this was not how you pursue a girl.

If you're so eager to spend money on others, you'll only be seen as a sucker!

"Then come home with me."

Huang Xiaomin took a few steps, then frowned when he saw that the man hadn't followed. "What's wrong?"

"You go back first, I'm not going back for now, something's come up at home, have someone call me." Huang Xiaofu said and left without looking back.

Huang Xiaomin wanted to say something, but Li Jin'e grabbed him and said, "No, Second Brother is like this, you can't call him back even if you shout."

The two had just returned home when Huang Mancang was already there. Huang Xiaomin peeked out at the bright, blazing sun and asked him, puzzled.

"Dad, you're home so early today?"

While tidying up his house, Huang Mancang didn't even look up and replied directly, "There's not much to do at the factory today, so I'm coming home early."

"Yeah?"

The question had barely left his lips when a feather duster flew straight at his face, followed by a slightly angry voice, "Why would I lie to you!"

Huang Xiaomin reluctantly picked up the feather duster from the ground, gestured for Li Jin'e to go back inside first, and tentatively sat down to tell Huang Mancang about meeting Huang Xiaofu in front of the supply and marketing cooperative.

"That brat is blinded by greed, he's obsessed with that Miao girl, he'll get what's coming to him sooner or later."

Huang Xiaomin nodded in agreement. Miao Fengying was involved with other men, and all sorts of rumors were flying around. He had seen it at least twice.

Huang Mancang slapped the table. "Forget it. Your second brother isn't thinking straight right now. He won't listen to anything we say. It's not like we haven't told him before."

Before the two had exchanged more than a few words, Huang Xiaoguo pushed open the door, rushed to the table, grabbed a water glass, and gulped down the entire pot of water before finally sitting down on a stool, panting heavily.

"Mom, Dad, Third Brother, guess who I saw?"

Huang Xiaomin rolled his eyes. "What? Have you seen a ghost?"

Huang Xiaoguo slammed his hand on the table and shouted, "That's about enough!" He then glanced towards the door, leaned close to the two men, and whispered, "Me..."

"I saw Miao Fengying, the girl the second brother likes, exchanging glances with that short guy from the Wu family on the next street at the alley entrance. Tsk tsk tsk... You didn't see it, that woman almost clung to that short guy!"

Huang Mancang and Huang Xiaomin exchanged a glance, a hint of sympathy flashing in their eyes simultaneously.

Seeing that the two of them were not speaking, Huang Xiaoguo scratched his head and asked, "Why aren't you saying anything?"

"When I picked up Jin'e, I saw our second son and Miao Fengying together, buying her a Dacron shirt."

Huang Xiaoguo was stunned. What? He had just broken up with Huang Xiaofu and then found another sucker?

"If the second son were to go headfirst into marrying such a woman, our ancestors would be turning in their graves."

Huang Xiaomin was used to it; he'd seen this situation many times before. He simply waved his hand in the air.

"It's okay, he can't marry her. Mom won't agree."

Li Jin'e, having put her things down at some point, quietly added, "Mom doesn't seem to object; she's even helping my second brother save money..."

The three members of the Huang family froze instantly. Had his wife and mother said those words...?

Huang Mancang immediately made the decision, instructing Huang Xiaomin to bring Huang Xiaofu back later.

“When I ran into him and Miao Fengying, I told him to go home... but my second brother wouldn’t come back with me.”

Huang Mancang was instantly enraged. "That bastard!"

When Grandma Wu returned home that evening, she saw the Huang family father and sons staring at her hesitantly, as if they wanted to say something but couldn't. "What do you want to say?"

The two brothers, Huang Xiaoguo and Huang Xiaomin, looked at Huang Mancang and gestured for him to speak.

Huang Mancang hesitated for a long time before slowly speaking, leaving Wang Huijun and Huang Xiaoqiang, who were unaware of the situation, looking completely stunned.

Grandma Wu thought it was something serious, but after hearing what Huang Mancang said, her brows relaxed and she didn't seem worried or troubled at all. They were stunned. Could it be that, as Li Jin'e said, she really didn't object?

But that won't do.

Old Mrs. Wu interrupted Huang Mancang, "What do you plan to do? Call him home and try to persuade him with kind words? Or tell him the truth about Miao Fengying? Or lock Huang Xiaofu in the house and prevent him from seeing Miao Fengying?"

A few questions left them taken aback.

"Will he listen to advice? Or will he believe what you say?"

Old Mrs. Wu smirked, "Not only will he not, he might even see you as obstacles preventing him from being with the person he loves."

The room fell silent instantly. Old Mrs. Wu lowered her eyelids, a cold smile creeping onto her face. She had done all these things in her past life, thinking it was for his own good, doing everything she could to prevent him from being with Miao Fengying, but the result was not as good as letting him have his way in the first place.

"Don't worry about him, let him do whatever he wants." She wanted to see what the outcome would be for Huang Xiaofu and Miao Fengying if she let go and didn't interfere for the rest of their lives.

Huang Mancang wanted to say something, but was stopped by Old Lady Wu's expressionless face, and he didn't speak again.

Unmarried young people working at the food processing plant can live in the dormitory. Huang Xiaofu has been staying in the dormitory these days because he hasn't gone home.

'Gurgle gurgle...'

Huang Xiaofu picked up his water glass and slowly gulped down a large amount to barely suppress the burning hunger. He patted his pockets and couldn't help but sigh. There were still five or six days until the end of the month, and he didn't have a single penny left.

How am I going to get through the next few days...?

My thoughts slowly drifted back to the time I met Miao Fengying today.

"Xiaofu, my mom found all the money I had on me and took it all... I, I... I'm so sorry!"

Her words were incoherent, filled with sobs and whimpers, her thin shoulders trembling, a sight that pierced his heart with pain.

"No, don't cry. It's gone now, at least you weren't beaten."

Miao Fengying casually brushed a strand of hair behind her ear, and the ill-fitting sleeve of her dress slipped down instantly, revealing bruises on her arm.

Huang Xiaofu's pupils contracted instantly. "She, she hit you!"

Miao Fengying seemed to realize something, and quickly lowered her sleeves and bowed her head, "No...nothing."

Her tone was light, tinged with grievance, "My new clothes are ruined."

Huang Xiaofu waved his hand dismissively, "It's alright, we'll buy more, I have plenty of money!"

Miao Fengying immediately looked up at him, her eyes sparkling.

As soon as he finished speaking, Huang Xiaofu quietly reached into his pocket for the remaining five yuan. He blinked and saw Miao Fengying gazing at him with affection, as if she only had eyes for him.

He hardened his heart and told her to wait for him for a while.

He went back to the dormitory and borrowed five yuan from a familiar coworker. He hurriedly ran out, afraid that Miao Fengying would be waiting anxiously.

I just went to the supply and marketing cooperative to buy a Dacron shirt, but I ran into my third son and his wife, and I forgot to take back the change.
