"You really are a decisive person; you're very efficient in getting things done."
Grandma Wu immediately noticed the subtle change in Guo Zhixia's attitude. "Hehe, I feel relieved that it's all settled this morning. My youngest son will be going to the countryside soon, and it won't be long before Xiaoyue's wedding is over."
"So fast?" Guo Zhixia asked in surprise.
Grandma Wu nodded. "Yes."
Old Mrs. Wu was concerned about the remaining materials, so after exchanging a few brief pleasantries with her, she bid farewell to Director Jia and his wife and left.
Time flies, and soon it was time for the wedding banquet.
After submitting all the documents for the household registration transfer, Old Lady Wu went to Director Jia's house to help Guo Zhixia.
I was busy until it was time to attend the wedding banquet.
"You've worked so hard these days, with so much going on at home and at the factory, yet you still found time to help me."
"It's nothing. I just think Sister Guo is a good person, and we get along well, so I'm just going to shamelessly visit her more often."
Guo Zhixia nodded happily, then, as if thinking of something, her tone became somber, "Sigh, it's just that you'll be leaving soon."
When she spoke of this, Old Mrs. Wu's eyes lit up slightly. Yes, she was about to leave this world.
Huang Xiaoqiang's destination in the countryside has been decided; it will be in Nanshi, and Wu Laotai's household registration has been transferred there.
Huang Xiaofu didn't want to stay any longer, so the three of them had their household registrations separated and moved away together.
Huang Mancang was left staring blankly at the household registration booklet containing only his two sons, daughters-in-law, and a grandson.
This makes it seem like they're a divorced couple, since their household registration books are still separate.
"It's alright. Once I've settled in, I'll write to you and send you a telegram. Then we can act as if we've met in person."
Guo Zhixia nodded with interest. She had finally found someone she could talk to, someone whom Director Jia didn't object to. But they hadn't been together long before they had to part ways, and with her daughter getting married, it was no wonder she was upset.
Glancing at Jia Hua to the side, she suddenly thought of Qiao Yuping, who had been following Old Lady Wu around these past few days. "How is she doing at the factory?"
Suddenly, an image of a tall, beautiful girl popped into Grandma Wu's mind. She smiled and nodded, "She's pretty and smart. She picks things up very quickly. In a few more days, she'll be able to handle the director's duties all by herself."
Guo Zhixia glanced at her in surprise. Such a high evaluation? She looked at Jia Hua and thought of Qiao Jianguo. She couldn't imagine what the beautiful Qiao Yuping, whom Old Lady Wu had described, looked like.
Grandma Wu never imagined that she had seen Qiao Jianguo on the day she paid the money. He was not tall, had a big belly, and not much hair on his forehead. He wore thick-rimmed glasses. At first glance, she really couldn't imagine that his sister was such a beautiful person.
Thinking of Qiao Jianguo, Guo Zhixia pulled Old Lady Wu close to her and whispered something to her.
Guo Cuihua, who was not far away, saw this scene and gritted her teeth. She reached out and touched her huge belly.
A surge of anger instantly filled his heart. Just as he was about to raise his hand to deliver a powerful blow, he realized that his hand would land squarely on his own stomach. Startled, he broke out in a cold sweat and quickly withdrew his hand.
These past few days, even while sitting at home, she could hear that Old Lady Wu was going to her eldest sister's house every few days, even more frequently than she, the younger sister, was.
Ironically, Director Jia didn't object; in fact, he was happy to see her visit Guo Zhixia and become friendly with her, showing a completely different attitude and expression compared to when he visited her.
I don't know what kind of spell Old Lady Wu cast on them, making them stop associating with their own sister and instead associate with this complete stranger.
That's not all. Not only did they give her the position of director of the third workshop, but I also heard that she has an apprentice by her side and they want to pass the position to a young girl!
The more I thought about it, the more the anger in my heart seemed to tangibly erupt from my eyes.
The two had only been talking for a short while when Guo Zhixia was called away by Factory Director Jia. Old Mrs. Wu was left looking at the double happiness characters pasted all over the room. Her smile had barely lasted a few seconds when it was interrupted by a sharp shout from behind.
"Hey! What are you doing, peeking around like that? Stealing something?!"
Grandma Wu turned her head and, after recognizing the person, chuckled, "Oh, it's you. What's wrong? You're so heavy, yet you're out walking around. Are you sure you're alright?"
"Besides, I came to help with the permission of the host family. What do you mean by spying or stealing? How can you make baseless accusations against me?"
"you!"
Guo Cuihua was about to curse when she caught a glimpse of Guo Zhixia walking over out of the corner of her eye. She pouted and said, "Sister, Wu Mingxia is bullying me!"
“She just yelled at me, saying I was peeking around and that I was stealing! You should make her leave right now. What kind of person is she? She makes baseless accusations and just spouts nonsense.”
Grandma Wu stared wide-eyed at Guo Zhixia, who was copying and pasting her words. She knew she hadn't yet mastered the art of turning the tables and lying without batting an eye.
Guo Zhixia looked at Old Lady Wu suspiciously and asked Guo Cuihua, "Really?"
"Of course it's true." Guo Cuihua raised her chin, hugged her eldest sister's arm tightly, and looked at Old Lady Wu provocatively. See? In the end, she still sides with her own sister.
Why would they side with an outsider?
"impossible."
Guo Cuihua's smile froze instantly. What did her sister say? Impossible?
Is this a suspicion that her sister is lying?
Guo Cuihua looked at her elder sister in disbelief. "What are you saying? Impossible! You mean I'm lying to you?"
Guo Zhixia opened her mouth but hesitated for a moment. Guo Cuihua had already gritted her teeth and glared at Old Lady Wu. "Fine, you trust an outsider but not your own sister? Fine, since that's the case, I suppose you don't welcome me either. I'll leave, I'll leave, okay?"
Guo Zhixia watched helplessly as Guo Cuihua left in anger, wanting to advise her not to get angry and to take care of her health, but the woman was already far away.
The person who was groaning twice with every step just a moment ago is now walking briskly, causing Guo Zhixia's eyebrow to twitch.
Grandma Wu was a little embarrassed, after all, they were sisters. "I'm really causing you trouble."
Guo Zhixia waved her hand dismissively, "That's just how she is. You can only believe three-tenths of what she says; the rest is exaggerated. You can't believe everything she says."
Huh? Old Mrs. Wu's mouth opened slightly. She had seen Guo Cuihua before at the factory, but they never interacted. She had only occasionally heard people mention her, saying that she was difficult to get along with and that she always tried to gain the upper hand because her brother-in-law was the factory manager.
“My husband used to not let me and Cuihua spend much time together, and I didn’t like it. But after something happened, I gradually distanced myself from her, and that’s when I started seeing you more often.”
"After staying away from her, I feel like my mind is much clearer, especially when I'm with you, I feel like I've become more clever."
Old Mrs. Wu's lips twitched. "No, really?"
“Really.” Guo Zhixia looked at Grandma Wu seriously. “I feel that what you say sometimes makes a lot of sense. It even brought my thinking back on track after being led astray by Cuihua.”
