Chapter 8 Door-to-Door Guarantee

Whether she forgot or didn't see it, Old Mrs. Wu got up to go back inside.

Huang Mancang hesitated for a long time but still didn't make a sound. The room suddenly became quiet, and Huang Mancang fell asleep on the small bed in the outer room.

On the other side, Huang Xiaoguo walked out of the gate with his head held high towards Wang Huijun's parents' home. He was personally bringing her back. How much face did she have? How dare she not come back?

The two houses weren't far apart, just across the street. Standing in front of Wang Huijun's house, he felt a little strange. This was his first time visiting his mother-in-law's house. He raised his hand and started knocking, 'Knock, knock, knock—'

After a few knocks, the door was pulled open from the inside, revealing a young, innocent face. "Dad?"

Huang Xiaoguo was also taken aback when he saw his son, thinking it would be Wang Huijun who opened the door. "Where's your mother?"

Huang Xuewen glanced around the room, not looking up at him, and said in a low voice, "She's with my grandma."

"Then quickly call your mother out, let's go home."

As soon as Huang Xiaoguo finished speaking, a large face appeared behind the small face, staring fiercely at him. "Huang Xiaoguo, you beat my sister up like that, and you still dare to come back?"

The moment the menacing-looking Wang Wenzheng appeared, Huang Xiaoguo's legs went weak. "You... what do you want to do?"

This is why he never visited Wang Huijun's family home; once he met Wang Huijun's brother, he didn't want to see him a second time.

He wondered how someone could look like a murderer. Thinking of Wang Huijun's pretty face, he wondered if his mother-in-law had cheated on him and given birth to his brother-in-law. Huang Xiaoguo's thoughts wandered.

When Wang Wenzheng saw that he still dared to stare blankly in front of him, he got angry, bent down, grabbed the man by the collar, and lifted him up.

In Huang Xiaoguo's eyes, Wang Wenzheng's thick black eyebrows and his eyes, which were as big as a bull's eyes, made him look like he was about to devour him alive when he suddenly approached. He was even more terrifying than Old Lady Wu. Huang Xiaoguo immediately started to struggle wildly, desperately trying to break free, and turned to run away as if a ghost was chasing him. He felt that if he was a step slower, he would die.

Wang Wenzheng's hands froze in mid-air, looking bewildered as Huang Xiaoguo fled like a rabbit.

"Is your dad seeing a ghost?"

Huang Xuewen was also confused, but when he looked up and saw his uncle who looked like a black bear, he vaguely understood what had happened to his father.

Huang Xiaoguo, who was rushing home, fell into the house with a 'thud,' startling Huang Mancang, who was sleeping soundly.

Hearing the commotion, Old Mrs. Wu came out. Upon seeing her, Huang Xiaoguo, his legs weak, ran towards her, crying, "Mom! I almost didn't see you again..."

Grandma Wu dodged to the left to avoid getting his snot and tears on her face. "What happened?"

After he finished speaking, Huang Xiaoguo acted as if he hadn't heard anything. His wailing and howling made Wu's head buzz. She subconsciously raised her hand and slapped him, and only then did Huang Xiaoguo stop.

"Stop howling, what happened? Didn't you go to pick up your wife?"

Huang Xiaoguo suddenly stopped, hiccuped, and looked up with tearful eyes, "Mom, Wang Wenzheng is a big, burly man, like a black bear, standing in front of the door. I haven't even seen Huijun's face."

Grandma Wu asked in confusion, "Then why are you wailing like a banshee? Did Huijun's brother hit you?"

Huang Xiaoguo was stunned. After a long while, Wu Laotai heard him quietly utter two words, "No."

Old Mrs. Wu looked her son up and down strangely, as if she didn't recognize him. A surge of anger welled up inside her. "They didn't lay a hand on you, so why are you crying like that!"

"I...I'm scared." After being yelled at by Old Mrs. Wu, Huang Xiaoguo's tears, which he had stopped, started to fall again. He couldn't live like this anymore. He was threatened by being grabbed by the neck when he went out, and when he came home, he was yelled at by his own mother.

Seeing his teary eyes, Old Lady Wu closed her own eyes, jumped over him, and walked outside.

"Mom, what are you doing?"

"Take your wife home! You bunch of good-for-nothings, we really owe you a debt!"

Just as Huang Xiaoguo was about to get up and go back to his room to lie down, his ear suddenly hurt, and he was pulled away by Old Lady Wu.

As the mother and son walked to the door, Huang Xiaoguo subconsciously took a step back and stood behind Wu Laotai. Seeing this, Wu Laotai's palms itched again, and her hands, which she had just wiped clean, once again visited Huang Xiaoguo's face.

"You hit me again, Mom. Are you addicted to hitting people?"

Old Mrs. Wu was too lazy to pay attention to him. He sent his own mother to take the blame. Shouldn't he be beaten?

Just as Old Mrs. Wu was about to knock on the door, Wang Wenzheng opened it. The two looked at each other and Old Mrs. Wu looked him up and down without making a sound. In the few years since she last saw him, Wang Wenzheng had grown even more robust. She glanced at his head, which was level with the door frame, and thought to herself that he must be about two meters tall.

Its face was dark, and its fur was black; at first glance, it really did look like a black bear.

Wang Wenzheng was also taken aback when he saw Old Lady Wu. It took him a while to remember who it was. "Aunt Wu, what brings you here?"

Given Huang Xiaoguo's despicable character, the two families only maintained contact for a period of time during their honeymoon. Later, Huang Xiaoguo's malicious nature was exposed, and he beat Wang Huijun every few days, so the two families gradually lost contact.

Huang Xuewen is 5 years old this year, and it has been at least four years since the two families last visited each other.

Wang Wenzheng can now calmly call Old Lady Wu "Auntie" because he feels that among the scoundrel Huang family, only she has a personality similar to his own sister and is a good person... though she is often beaten by her husband.

Grandma Wu smiled and replied, "It's Wenzheng! He's grown so much."

Wang Wenzheng blushed. No one had spoken to him like that since he got married. "Auntie, I've already had a wife."

Grandma Wu blinked and suddenly remembered that half a year ago, Huijun had indeed mentioned that her younger brother was getting married and had even gone back to her parents' home for half a month to help with the wedding arrangements.

Wang Wenzheng suddenly realized he was still blocking the doorway and quickly stepped aside, saying, "Auntie, please come in."

Grandma Wu nodded and was about to step inside when she caught sight of Huang Xiaoguo, who was hanging his head behind her, and pulled him inside.

Seeing this, Wang Wenzheng was angry, but he held back because of Wu Laotai.

Wang's father passed away a few years ago, leaving only Wang's mother. When Wu entered the door and saw Wang's mother's expressionless face, she felt a little awkward.

His own son beat up other people's daughters until they were black and blue, and not just once or twice. If it weren't for the fact that it's easy to get married but difficult to get divorced these days, Huang Xiaoguo might have been a bachelor long ago.

"My dear in-laws, I'm such a fool, I didn't appreciate marrying such a good wife as Huijun, and I even treated her badly, I..."

The Queen Mother raised her hand to stop her, "Mingxia, we're all neighbors on the street, so don't say such polite things. I know what kind of life you're living in the Huang family."

Old Mrs. Wu slowly lowered her eyes, and the voice of the Queen Mother came again, "You also gave birth to four sons, but I only have one daughter, Huijun. Every time I see her come back covered in wounds, my heart is bleeding."

As he spoke, he turned his gaze to Huang Xiaoguo, who was standing to the side, and said, "Xiaoguo, if you still want to do this, write a guarantee today that you will not lay a hand on Huijun from now on."

“If you don’t want to live together anymore, then get a divorce. We still have land in the countryside. At worst, my daughter and I can go back to the village to farm. We won’t starve.”
