"Hey, what business is it of yours what I buy?"
When Qi Niuhua gets angry, she puts her hands on her hips and looks more imposing than Li the veterinarian.
"Will you sell it?"
Veterinarian Li's face darkened. "What medicine did you buy? And what did you want to buy it for?"
Qi Niuhua's eyes darted around. She didn't keep dogs at home, and now it wasn't her turn to raise pigs either. She was supposed to buy medicine for the livestock, so this veterinarian Li definitely wouldn't sell to her.
"I'm buying this for myself. I'm too full and want to buy some food supplements and medicine to help with diarrhea."
For a moment, Veterinarian Li thought he was hallucinating. What?
Feeding it? It can cause diarrhea.
Does she even know what she's being shown to?
Did you forget to take your medication today?
Qi Niuhua gritted her teeth and said, "You're the one who didn't take your medicine."
"I just ate too much. I haven't had a bowel movement for half a month... no! A month. My stomach is so uncomfortable."
Veterinarian Li was speechless. "Go to the town hospital and see a doctor. I'm treating livestock here. Are you livestock?"
Qi Niuhua: "I've been a widow for over ten years. Where would I get any money? Going to town costs money, and going to the hospital is an even bigger drain on my wallet."
"I'll just take some diarrhea medicine and I'll be fine," Qi Niuhua hissed, then said solemnly, "preferably a large dose."
Veterinarian Li narrowed his eyes, gave her a strange once-over, and realized that Qi Niuhua was out of her mind.
Moreover, he was quite ill.
The medicine prescribed for livestock has different ingredients and dosages than that for humans.
He had never heard of medicine meant for livestock being given to humans.
If that's the case, then what's the point of having doctors? We might as well just replace them all with veterinarians.
"To sell or not to sell?"
Qi Niuhua, seeing him frowning and smoothing his brow every now and then, grew impatient and said, "Why are you, a grown man, so slow and dawdling?"
Veterinarian Li: "Not for sale."
"Okay, give me five packs first. I'll owe you the money. I'll give you a few when the work points come in."
Qi Niuhua finished speaking to himself before realizing that he seemed to have said "not for sale" twice.
"What! You're not selling?" Just as Qi Niuhua was about to grab the railing and climb in, the big black dog in the yard started biting her fiercely again.
"Why?"
Veterinarian Li raised his hand to soothe the big black dog before saying, "People and livestock are different; medicines are different, and you can't just give them anything."
"Besides, if something goes wrong with what I eat... I can't afford the responsibility."
"Who asked you to take responsibility? Don't worry, I'll eat my words and not come looking for you."
Veterinarian Li let out a long sigh of relief. Seeing that he couldn't reason with her, he simply waved his hand and went home, saying, "Forget it, I can't reason with you. Anyway, I'm not selling to you."
After saying that, he loosened the chain holding the big black dog several meters, just enough for it to reach the fence, before going back into the house.
Qi Niuhua was so frightened when she saw the big black dog, which had just been unchained, pounce on her in an instant and quickly back away.
He gritted his teeth so hard they almost broke, glared fiercely at Veterinarian Li's room, and then turned and left angrily.
She refused to believe that he was the only veterinarian with the medicine.
If there were none in the surrounding villages, she would travel even further, determined not to believe that other veterinarians wouldn't give her any!
Veterinarian Li, unable to see Qi Niuhua's figure after peering through the window, finally exhaled, clutching his chest.
"What's wrong with you? Who were you talking to when you were rambling on in the yard just now?"
Veterinarian Li pulled the blanket over himself. "Who else could it be at this hour? Everyone else is asleep."
Veterinarian Li's wife turned her neck and thought for a moment, then asked doubtfully, "Is it Qi Niu Hua?"
"You guessed right."
"What is she doing here?"
Looking at the dark ceiling, Veterinarian Li still found Qi Niuhua amusing. "She said she hadn't pooped for a month and her stomach was bloated. She asked me to buy some laxatives, and said she wanted a large quantity."
"They even said they'd owe me the money first, and then give me a few when the work points came in."
"You think I'd give that? Animal medicine isn't for humans. She's mentally ill, and I don't have any."
"What if something happens and she comes to me first, and then tries to extort money from me?"
Veterinarian Li's wife didn't say anything, but she was thinking about Qi Niuhua in her heart.
"I feel... something's not right."
Veterinarian Li was taken aback and subconsciously turned his head. Although it was dark and he couldn't see clearly, he still tried to open his eyes wide to look at her. "What's wrong?"
“Look, Qi Niuhua may be a bit short-tempered and likes to fight, but she’s not mentally ill. How could she not know that the medicine for livestock is not for humans?”
Veterinarian Li frowned. "You're overthinking it." He didn't think Qi Niuhua was mentally sound; everything she did suggested she was seriously ill.
Sleepiness washed over her, and she waved her hand repeatedly, "You're definitely overthinking it. What could she possibly do with the medicine? She doesn't raise livestock at home, not even pigs anymore. What else could she do with it besides using it herself?"
Indeed, after thinking for a long time, Li the veterinarian's wife couldn't figure out what else Qi Niuhua could do with the medicine besides using it herself.
I drifted off to sleep.
She never imagined that Qi Niuhua wanted to kill the village's piglets.
After all, in this simple and honest mountain village, the natural death of chickens, ducks, pigs, and dogs is unavoidable.
But to kill someone intentionally, or to kill them by some means, is something no one in the village could imagine.
For several days in a row, no one in the village saw Qi Niuhua. No one cared that she was not around. She usually hid alone in the pigsty and did not interact with the villagers.
Apart from the village party secretary who searched the entire village thoroughly and even fussed over not being able to find Qi Niuhua, everyone else remained indifferent.
The village party secretary frantically scribbled in his notebook with a pen: No work points...no work points!
When she finally finished, she suddenly lost her temper. Even if she didn't earn work points, she wouldn't go hungry. They all ate from the same pot, so how could she go hungry?
The village party secretary sighed, and the people in the fields saw it all clearly.
"What's wrong with the village party secretary?"
"What else could it be? There are always people who want to get something for nothing. There are only so many people who want to work, and there are plenty of people who want to freeload."
Huang Xiaoqiang pricked up his ears and listened. "Free meal? Who is it?" He craned his neck to look and found that everyone was there and there were no servants missing.
Then someone next to me asked, "You mean... Qi Niu Hua?"
"Yeah, I haven't seen her for days."
"We've never seen her before, so what's so surprising?"
"Tsk, she used to raise pigs, though she was just as cunning and even managed to kill them, but now she probably has nothing to do, right?"
"It's not right that we can't see her, is it? Stealing the fruits of everyone's labor is shameful!"
"No! This is despicable and shameful!"
Huang Xiaoqiang thought about what Qi Niuhua had done to Wu Laotai a while ago, and subconsciously became more attentive.
When Huang Xiaoqiang returned home and told Grandma Wu about it, Huang Xiaofu didn't take it seriously, saying, "So what if she doesn't want to see us? What does it have to do with us?"
Old Mrs. Wu heard this, remembered it, and lowered her head in deep thought.
Huang Xiaoqiang got angry when he saw his second brother acting like a brat who didn't care at all.
