Chapter 47 Love Letter: Will You Be My Girlfriend?
Only now did Zhou Yu realize which song Chen Jingchi wanted to play for the three-plus minutes during the phone call Du Heng made to her that afternoon.
Now I understand why the stylist didn't dare show her the setlist when adjusting her costume yesterday.
It turned out this was an encore song he had prepared long ago, and the arrangement was even different from the one he had performed in high school. Chen Jingchi gave Zhou Yu a completely unexpected surprise at the end of the last show of his solo concert.
His gaze remained fixed on her, and he had even memorized all the lyrics, so he didn't need to look at the teleprompter.
The song was only a little over three minutes long, so short that Zhou Yu hadn't even recovered from the shock before it was already over.
All the lights went out, leaving only a beam of light focused on Chen Jingchi. He stood up from the piano bench, picked up the microphone, and thanked everyone once again: "Thank you for listening. See you next time."
He bowed deeply, then left the stage with all the musicians.
"They all kept this from me!" Tan Bei looked at Zhou Yu in shock and asked, "Baby, are you alright?"
Zhou Yu stood up slowly, and after several seconds replied, "Huh? It's alright."
"The trending topics must be exploding right now." Tan Bei, still excited, grabbed her hand. "Chen Jingchi's move is too invincible! Who could resist that? Damn it!"
Zhou Yu reacted slowly, and after being pulled along, it took him a while to say, "Where are we going?"
"There's a dinner party tonight." Tan Bei turned around and saw her blank expression, and couldn't help but laugh. "Don't make that face in front of everyone later, or Chen Jingchi will be thrilled."
Zhou Yu couldn't see his own expression, so he quickly lowered his head and adjusted it.
As audience members passed by and left, Zhou Yu could hear their conversations.
"Chen Jingchi is amazing! How much does he like him? Weibo must crash today."
"Is this the first time someone in the entertainment industry has done something like this at a concert?"
"I thought he was career-oriented, but I didn't expect him to be a bit love-obsessed too."
Did Zhou Yu come today?
"He's definitely here! Didn't you notice he kept looking down at the audience?"
"I really want to see what she looks like, how can he love her so much?"
"Who knew, I couldn't find a single picture of it online."
Zhou Yu gradually regained some of her senses, but the further she walked backstage, the more nervous she became, unsure of what to do when she saw Chen Jingchi. He had confessed his love to her in front of 50,000 people, and the choice was entirely hers, yet she was incredibly flustered.
Tan Bei led her backstage. Du Heng stood at the door of the van, urging the two to get in quickly. The boys were all sitting in the back. There was an empty seat next to Chen Jingchi, but Tan Bei skipped over it and sat down next to Zhan Li.
When Zhou was about to get on the bus, her eyes met his. She quickly looked away and sat down next to him, her movements restrained and awkward.
Tan Bei was still bothered by the confession, asking them, "Why didn't you tell me about this? You even kept it from me!"
“Miss, you two are such good friends, are you sure you won’t accidentally let it slip?” Zhuo Wencheng explained, “We musicians definitely need to know, right? This is such a big deal, we definitely have to tell the company. Brother Du Heng needs to know, right? You can just sit in the audience and watch.”
Tan Bei could barely accept this reason, but then something occurred to her, and she asked in surprise, "I was there every day when you were rehearsing, how come I didn't know about this song?"
Zhan Li suddenly said, "You were already asleep by one or two in the morning. Otherwise, what do you think we were doing staying up all night the other day?"
Hearing this, Zhou Yu finally understood why Chen Jingchi had messaged her at 3 a.m. earlier; it turned out he was preparing this song.
She tried to steal a glance at Chen Jingchi, but when she looked up, he was staring at her, and she wondered if his gaze had never left her. Her ears began to burn, and she dared not look again, lowering her head to minimize her presence.
Du Heng turned around from the passenger seat with a funny expression: "The funniest thing is that yesterday the stylist came to me and said that Zhou Yu had picked out the outfit for today's encore song and asked me if I wanted to add it back. I took a look and it was a pink outfit, which was quite youthful."
No wonder they're doing their makeup and hair in their hotel room today, which is unusual for them.
She was wondering why she wore blue instead of pink for the final encore when Zhuo Wencheng asked for her, "Then why didn't you change into it today?"
Chen Jingchi finally spoke up: "I can't wait, I'm in a hurry."
Originally, he was supposed to go offstage to change into his last outfit after singing "To My Dear You," but he had been waiting for this moment for so long that he simply skipped the time of going up and down the stage.
The few words he said before the performance were entirely improvised. He didn't want to write his confession down and read it aloud. There was no strict logic to it, and it wasn't polished or embellished. Only the most sincere words that reflected his current state of mind were the most touching.
The group laughed.
Zhou Yu laughed so hard that not only his ears but also his cheeks warmed up.
Not long after the car drove off, Xu Yue asked, "Is Weibo really down? I can't log in."
It's obvious that Chen Jingchi's big commotion tonight will be discussed not only by fans but also bystanders.
Tan Bei's voice came from behind: "I went up there. The last time I saw a row of super popular albums was the day the album was revived."
She posted a screenshot in the group chat, and Zhou Yu clicked on it and saw that his name was at the top of the list.

Who is Zhou Yu?
Upon hearing this, Du Heng reminded them, "You two should stop looking at Weibo. There are definitely a lot of marketing accounts stirring up trouble. Anyway, there are people in the company keeping an eye on things, so there won't be any problems. Just rest well during your vacation and don't think about those things."
Zhou Yu was also included.
"Oh right, I'm worried about reporters or paparazzi taking pictures. If you're going out, you'd better be careful," Du Heng added. "I might not be able to keep an eye on things while I'm back in Jiangbei these next couple of days."
Chen Jingchi replied, "I know."
The three-day concert came to a successful end, and the heavy responsibility that had been weighing on everyone's minds for more than half a month was finally put to rest. Everyone felt relieved, and quite a few bottles of wine were opened at the dinner table tonight. Even Chen Jingchi had some.
He had just recovered, and Zhou Yu was worried it might have an impact, but also didn't want to spoil everyone's fun, so he didn't stop him, only asking, "Can you drink?"
“It’s nothing,” he said. “Just one cup.”
He pushed the wine glass towards her, leaving the amount to her to decide, and Zhou Yu kindly filled it to the brim.
He kept his word, only drinking the cup Zhou Yu poured for him, not touching a drop more. Zhuo Wencheng tried to persuade him but to no avail, so he mischievously called out, "Sister-in-law, you're being too strict!"
Zhou Yu never expected that he would get so drunk after only a short time drinking. One way he addressed her made her so drunk that she could barely lift her head, which made everyone burst into laughter.
Tan Bei stood up for her: "What sister-in-law? Did you agree before you called her that? Don't go on a drunken rampage!"
Chen Jingchi poured some water into a glass and laughed, "Let him have his way, nobody cares about him."
Zhuo Wencheng's momentum was completely extinguished in an instant. He sought psychological comfort from Xu Yue, but Xu Yue pushed him away, saying, "Don't force me to drink, go force me to drink."
Du Heng accepted all drinks; he had a high alcohol tolerance, and everyone else started talking nonsense by the end. After the dinner, as Zhou Yu was about to get up, Du Heng whispered to her, "He needs a hot compress on his lower back tonight to remove the bruising, or you could buy some safflower oil and massage it for him; it will help heal faster."
Zhou Yu nodded and remembered: "Okay."
"Then I can rest assured that I'm leaving him in your care." Du Heng patted her shoulder, his expression somewhat comical. "Kids, let's get out of here!"
Tan Bei shook her head as she watched them respond to her call: "It's a good thing we only drink together once in a while. It would be as easy as fooling an idiot to trick them out of their bank card passwords right now."
Zhou Yu smiled, thinking that she wouldn't see Tan Bei again until school started after today, and hugged her: "See you next month."
"It's been so long," Tan Bei whispered to her. "You have to tell me when you're together!"
Zhou Yu felt a little awkward and nodded slightly.
The driver first drove to the hotel. After Du Heng and his group left, only the two of them remained in the car. Chen Jingchi told the driver to take him to his house, then asked Zhou Yu, "Want to keep me company?"
Since there were still outsiders present, Zhou Yu didn't dare to answer directly, and only asked, "Do you have safflower oil at home?"
That's considered as agreeing.
Chen Jingchi chuckled: "No need for that."
Zhou Yu still insisted: "Brother Du Heng said it will heal faster."
"Maybe." Chen Jingchi looked at her, his expression ambiguous. "I'll have a very hard time."
It took Zhou Yu a while to understand what he meant. She glanced at the driver in front of her and felt embarrassed for him, thinking that he had said it so casually in front of him.
Even though the carriage was dimly lit, he could tell she was blushing. Seeing her evasive gaze and shy eyes, every second felt incredibly long to Chen Jingchi.
He had been waiting for this day for so long. He had already included it in his plans as soon as he learned of the opportunity to organize a concert. Now that it had finally come true, he couldn't wait to hear the answer.
He relinquished all control, awaiting Zhou Yu's judgment.
Upon arriving at Chen Jingchi's building, he said to the driver, "Uncle, please wait here for her for a while."
Zhou Yu followed him out of the car and upstairs. Each step made her heart beat faster, making her extremely nervous about what she was about to do.
She didn't even have time to look inside after entering the room. She hugged Chen Jingchi from behind, but only for two or three seconds before letting go.
Chen Jingchi turned around and hugged her tightly.
The moment I touched her, a void in my heart was filled, and a warmth rose in my chest.
Zhou Yu didn't speak, but looked up at him, her gaze moving from his eyes down to his lips, lingering for a few seconds before quickly looking away.
Just like before, she wanted his hug but didn't say it outright, using small gestures to provoke him and make him itchy and restless.
Chen Jingchi sighed, "You really know how to manipulate me."
He raised his hand, his thumb forcefully tracing her lower lip, his voice lower, "Are you going to dodge this time?"
Zhou Yu remained silent, only turning his head slightly to follow the finger as it left, as if kissing the fingertip.
Chen Jingchi was driven mad by the fire.
The fingers on her lips were removed, replaced by his lips, which were incredibly hot. Chen Jingchi swallowed her panicked gasp and forced her to tilt her head back to receive his burning kiss.
He kissed her fiercely and urgently, as if she would leave at any moment, and he desperately wanted to possess her.
Zhou Yu raised her hand and placed it against his chest, her mind filled with the warmth of his lips, their intertwined breaths, and the bitter aftertaste of his perfume.
This was Zhou Yu's first time having such intimate contact with someone. He had no experience whatsoever, only feeling that he liked it, wanted it, and felt comfortable. She responded to him instinctively. When their lips parted, their teeth would occasionally clink together. This made Zhou Yu, as he gradually became immersed in the moment, realize that he wasn't so skilled at kissing either.
Her willpower began to weaken, and she felt his tongue probing inside her. Without even a moment to hesitate, she opened her teeth in response, fully welcoming him.
Her initiative excited Chen Jingchi even more. He forcefully took over her mouth, their tongues entwining in a passionate kiss, the sounds of their bodies mingling, and the surrounding air rapidly heated up. Zhou Yu's body became as soft as her voice; all her oxygen was being taken away by him, leaving her breathless. Her moans became sweet and cloying, the last syllable trembling like a hook.
Chen Jingchi kindly let her off this time. Looking down at her cheeks flushed pink and her eyes filled with tears, his desire to conquer her was aroused.
His voice was hoarse, as if it had been ground by coarse sand: "Zhou Yu, I don't want you to agree to me in a moment of impulse, but I really can't wait any longer now."
He reached out and wiped the moisture from her lips, trying to ease the confusion in her eyes, before asking again, "Will you be my girlfriend?"
