Chapter 362: Down to Earth

Every dish was delicious. Xu Manman was full very quickly. She didn’t leave the table and just watched Xiao Jinxuan eat. I have to say, he has a pretty face and it’s a pleasure to watch him eat. It would be more perfect if his face didn’t change so quickly.

If it was Tongzi with only one skin, the situation could still be controlled, but this time Xiao Jin released all the skins, and after taking a few bites of one, he would move on to another. In the end, the banquet prepared by Xu Manman, which was enough for more than ten people, was eaten up, and the soup in the dishes was used to mix with the rice.

Xu Manman really couldn't help it this time. There were so many dishes and such a big bucket of rice. Even if it was divided among seven or eight skins, one skin would have been a lot.

She reached out and poked Xiao Jin's flat abdomen, "Where did you put all the food you ate?"

Xiao Jin, now in the form of Doctor Jin, had eaten and drunk his fill. He squeezed Xu Manman's fingers and said, "It's all in my stomach, but Xiao Jin's body digests it much faster than a real human. You might need to take some nutritional supplements later. Let's go, um... to the bathroom and empty it."

After hearing this, Xu Manman burst out laughing. Tongzi, who used to be so ethereal and otherworldly, has now become so down-to-earth.

However, after the meal, Xu Manman still made herself a cup of chrysanthemum tea. After eating so many oily, salty and spicy dishes, she still needed to cool down.

The next day, Xu Manman washed up and left the space early. She tidied up the bedding and other luggage, put them in a wooden box, and packed all the things she wanted to take on the train into her schoolbag.

Before the exam, Xu Manman took Chen Ming out for a walk and bought some local specialties to send back. So this time when he went back twice, apart from three sets of clothes and some daily necessities, a backpack was just enough to hold them all.

After Xu Manman finished, she opened the door and saw the note on the door, "Manman, I'm going to buy breakfast."

Chen Ming was actually earlier than her. Since that was the case, she was no longer in a hurry. She put her schoolbag back, took a book and sat on the railing of the corridor to pass the time.

Not long after, Chen Ming entered the yard carrying two lunch boxes in a net bag and a fried dough stick wrapped in oil paper in one hand.

"Manman, you must be hungry. There are quite a few people queuing up in front of the restaurant, all waiting to buy youtiao. I bought three too. They were freshly fried and still hot."

Xu Manman took the fried dough sticks, and the two of them didn't go into the kitchen. Instead, they stood at the edge of the corridor, holding the fried dough sticks in one hand and the lunch box in the other, and started to eat with slurps.

He was too lazy to wash the chopsticks and spoon, and his eating manner was very unrestrained, which was very different from the elegant way he ate Western food yesterday.

After breakfast, Chen Ming rinsed the lunch box, put it back into the net bag, and hung it on his schoolbag. He would need it later when eating on the train.

Their train leaves at 10 o'clock, and it's not even 8 o'clock yet. It only takes half an hour to get there by bus, so there's no need to rush.

The doors of the house are closed and the yard gate is locked. Xiao Jin has the key in his hand, and he will come and open the door by himself when work starts.

Walking out of the alley and onto the main street, the bustling feeling hit her. There was no rush anyway, so Xu Manman bought a lot of cakes and biscuits at the dim sum shop and two lunch boxes of braised food at the delicatessen shop, which she would save for when she got bored on the bus later.

They went back to the station 20 minutes in advance and checked their tickets to get on the train. Uncle Wang helped them buy sleeper tickets. There were fewer people here, so they didn't have to squeeze with others.

After finding the corresponding berths, one of them was on the middle berth and the other on the lower berth, Xu Manman decisively decided to sleep on the upper berth.

Chen Ming had no objection. Although the lower bunk was more convenient, the upper bunk was relatively safer for the child. With him watching from below, nothing would happen.

They both got on the train quite early and the carriage was still quite empty, so they sat together on the lower bunk and read. After waiting for about 10 minutes, two people finally came across them.

They were two middle-aged men in their thirties, wearing half-worn Zhongshan suits. In addition to their luggage, they also carried briefcases and had pens stuck in their breast pockets. Their outfit was very recognizable.

The two put their luggage away and looked at the young man reading a book across from them. "You guys are college students, right? Are you going home for the holidays?"

All major universities have been on holiday these days, so it’s not surprising that they could guess it.

The people opposite were all men, and Chen Ming was the one who handled the socializing. "Yes, let's go back to Hai City."

"What year are you in? Which school do you go to?"

When they heard Chen Ming say that the brother and sister were freshmen at Peking University and Tsinghua University, the two men looked at each other. They thought that the brother and sister were both talented, so the subsequent conversation became more enthusiastic.
