Chapter 104 Grandpa Decides, This Marriage Must End

Chapter 104 Grandpa Decides, This Marriage Must End

"What are you doing? Why did you let her out?" The old man tapped his cane on the ground repeatedly as he glared angrily at Jin Qingyu.

If there weren't so many outsiders present, he would have loved to swing his cane directly at Jin Qingyu.

Jiang Xingyao stood right next to him, and the old man was so guilty that he didn't dare to look Jiang Xingyao in the eye.

Just now, he confidently told Jiang Xingyao that Jin Qingyu would never look for Jiang Cancan again.

How long has it been? Half an hour?

His trusted grandson had directly humiliated him, and the old man couldn't remember the last time he had felt so embarrassed.

Jin Qingyu remained silent. The director explained, "Based on the evidence provided by Mr. Jin, Ms. Jiang Cancan does not constitute hiring someone to commit murder and is now being released without charge."

The name "Mr. Jin" shattered the old man's last hope.

The old man questioned again: "You did this? What did you promise me before? What do you mean by protecting this thing now?"

The questioning voices came one after another. Jin Qingyu's eyes flickered. He stepped forward and took the old man's arm: "Grandpa, I'll explain to you when we get home."

He glanced at Jiang Xingyao out of the corner of his eye; his face seemed somewhat helpless, and he didn't say a single word to her in the end.

Jiang Xingyao's eyes were as cold as if they were filled with ice.

All of this felt so familiar to her; she couldn't remember how many times this had happened, but she didn't care anymore.

Deep down, she seemed to feel a great sense of relief.

She had to thank Jin Qingyu for his firm choice of Jiang Cancan this time, which made her bet with her grandfather go so smoothly.

Although the old man was still angry with Jin Qingyu, he cared more about the Jin family's reputation. With so many outsiders present, he couldn't directly confront Jin Qingyu.

He reluctantly left the police station with Jin Qingyu.

Jiang Xingyao lagged slightly behind. Shen Mingsu, walking beside her, couldn't help but feel concerned. He lowered his voice and asked, "Xingyao, are you alright?"

"I'm fine. Keep those pieces of evidence for now. We can deal with this after I get a divorce," Jiang Xingyao said softly.

Shen Ming responded and, watching Jiang Xingyao walk towards the Jin family's car, gave her a few more words of advice out of concern.

Jiang Xingyao agreed to everything. She pretended to be relaxed and said to Shen Ming, "Just wait for my good news. I'll treat you and Sister Shen Ying to dinner then."

They only met briefly at the airport, but after exchanging a few words with Jiang Xingyao, Shen Mingsu agreed with Shen Ying; Jiang Xingyao had indeed changed a lot.

The old man had someone drive the car directly to the old house.

As soon as he entered the room, he impatiently swung his cane at Jin Qingyu's back.

In the living room, Jin Manchuan and the others were all there. Seeing this scene, Jin Manchuan teased, "What made Dad so angry? Did that project with the Zhou family fall through? I always said it wasn't appropriate to hand over such a large family business to some guy who just popped out of nowhere."

"You insisted on not listening back then, but now you know I had foresight, don't you? There's no time like the present, Dad, you should quickly hand the Jin family business over to Yan Zhou; maybe it can still be salvaged."

Jin Manchuan spoke with obvious schadenfreude, as if he felt that the distance made it difficult to see clearly. He even walked up to Jin Qingyu.

The old man's temples were already throbbing, and now that Jin Manchuan was making trouble for no reason, he immediately said, "Get out of my way and stop jumping around in front of me."

Jin Manchuan didn't show much emotion when he encountered a setback. Instead, he pulled up a chair and sat down opposite Jin Qingyu.

Every time Jiang Xingyao saw Jin Manchuan, she felt that he was a rather strange person.

Jin Qingyu's birth was, frankly speaking, caused by his own inability to control his lower body.

Regardless, they are father and son.

But Jin Manchuan always seemed to regard Jin Qingyu as an enemy.

Without Jin Manchuan causing trouble, the old man's cane once again slammed into Jin Qingyu's shoulder.

Jin Qingyu frowned: "Grandpa, I know you're angry. I can explain this, I..."

"Shut up! Kneel down!" The old man suddenly raised his voice, and his cane pounded on Jin Qingyu's body like raindrops.

He was already panting heavily after about seven or eight hits.

The butler quickly helped the old man sit down.

Aunt Jin stepped in to smooth things over: "Dad, no matter what Qingyu did, you've already hit him so many times. Have some tea first and calm down."

The old man took the tea from Aunt Jin, but casually threw his cane at Jin Manchuan: "You raised this good-for-nothing son of yours, you beat him, beat him to death!"

"Grandpa!" Jin Qingyu called out to the old man, only to meet his furious eyes.

The old man ignored Jin Qingyu and repeated to Jin Manchuan, "What are you standing there for? Hit him!"

Jin Manchuan was stunned for a moment, as if he hadn't expected such a good thing. He quickly picked up the old man's cane and smashed it mercilessly on Jin Qingyu's shoulder.

Even if Jin Manchuan was ignorant and incompetent, he was still younger and stronger than the old man. After a few strokes of his cane, blood seeped from Jin Qingyu's shoulder.

The old house was so quiet that it was as if only the sound of the cane tapping on Jin Qingyu's body could be heard, deafeningly so.

Jin Yanzhou and Han Hui stood aside and watched coldly. Aunt Jin tried to plead for him several times, but seeing the old man's cold face, she dared not say another word.

Jiang Xingyao watched all this coldly. Amidst the dull thud of her cane striking flesh, she looked at the old man and said, "Grandpa, I won the bet. You promised me..."

"Yaoyao, don't worry, Grandpa keeps his word. But before that, let Grandpa vent your anger first," the old man said.

He didn't call a stop, and Jin Manchuan was happy to continue.

After fighting for an unknown amount of time, Jin Qingyu's face turned sickly pale, and cold sweat dripped continuously from his forehead.

Even Jin Manchuan started to pant heavily.

A faint smell of blood seemed to permeate the air. This repetitive action brought Jiang Xingyao no pleasure; instead, it made her feel somewhat annoyed.

She stood up abruptly: "I'm going out for some fresh air. Call me when Grandpa's done hitting me."

Her voice was so cold that it betrayed no emotion. The old man was startled, and Jin Qingyu looked up directly at Jiang Xingyao.

The woman didn't turn her head or give him a single glance; all he could see was her graceful back.

Jin Qingyu's hands, resting on his knees, tightened slightly. He pursed his lips, and his eyes, as he looked at Jiang Xingyao's back, were filled with a deep, melancholy, as if a silent storm was brewing within them.

Does she really not care about him at all?

Or perhaps she had already planned to leave him and find someone else?

Otherwise, why would she rush to shield Shen Mingsu from a drink, while she herself is being punished here, yet she can't even get a glance from him?

Jin Qingyu pursed his lips tightly, the veins on the back of his hand standing out clearly.

It's no use. Jiang Xingyao is his wife, his possession.

She wants to find someone else? Impossible.

A cool breeze blew on her face, ruffling Jiang Xingyao's hair.

A shadow fell over her head, and she heard the man's deep voice: "You made a bet with Grandpa that you wanted to divorce Qingyu, right? Believe me or not, things won't go as you wish."

Jiang Xingyao looked up and saw Jin Yanzhou leaning lazily against a pillar with his arms crossed, his eyes slightly narrowed and filled with a playful expression.

“I trust Grandpa,” Jiang Xingyao said, not really in the mood to chat with Jin Yanzhou.

“I can help you.” Jin Yanzhou didn’t care about Jiang Xingyao’s attitude and offered his help directly.

There seemed to be a hint of confident strategist in his eyes, which Jiang Xingyao didn't like. Jiang Xingyao said, "No need."

Jin Yanzhou said ambiguously, "You'll need it. You'll thank me sooner or later, Jiang Xingyao. We didn't have any real conflict to begin with, did we? This year of confrontation was all because of Jin Qingyu. It wouldn't hurt to try trusting me for a moment."

“No need.” Jiang Xingyao repeated.

Jin Yanzhou is the kind of person who won't do anything without a reason, so Jiang Xingyao doesn't believe he would help her for no reason.

Rejected once again, Jin Yanzhou shrugged indifferently. Just as he was about to say something more, a commotion suddenly broke out in the room. Jiang Xingyao heard Jin's second aunt shout loudly, "Qingyu has fainted!"

With her brows furrowed deeply, Jiang Xingyao could still see a knowing smile on Jin Yanzhou's face when she returned to the house.

Jin Qingyu was helped to the bedroom.

The lingering smell of blood still lingered in the room. The old man leaned back on the sofa, looking somewhat dejected, as if he had aged many years in an instant.

When he saw Jiang Xingyao come in, he waved to her.

Jiang Xingyao walked to his side and heard the old man sigh heavily: "Yaoyao, Grandpa lost this bet."

Grandpa will keep his promise to you, but this time it's my fault for being impulsive and not knowing my limits, which caused that bastard to faint.

"Okay, Yaoyao, for the sake of our past as husband and wife, give him a few more days. Once he can get out of bed and walk again, Grandpa will definitely let him go with you to get the marriage certificate, okay?"

Jiang Xingyao stood quietly, her gaze towards the old man somewhat strange.

The old man said again, "Yaoyao, Grandpa keeps his word. Once he can get out of bed, even if we have to tie him up, Grandpa will make him go with you to get your marriage certificate, okay?"

Jiang Xingyao wanted to say no.

But when she turned her gaze, she saw the old man's face full of guilt.

Jiang Xingyao said, "I have taken on several commercial performances in Hong Kong. I will go to Hong Kong first these few days, and I will come back to get my marriage certificate after I finish."

The old man nodded: "Okay, you go ahead and get busy. You must take good care of yourself while you're out there. The Jin family and Grandpa will always be your support. This time, Grandpa will stand up for Yao Yao. We don't want that bastard anymore. This marriage is definitely over."

The old man's voice was gentle. As Jiang Xingyao left the old house, he forcibly stuffed a bank card into her hand.
